Atomic Heart is disappointing and average - Review

Atomic Heart is a very average video game which's reception has shot up to overrated levels because of the failed boycott. It's boring, draggy, and just in general, not a very good or amazing game. It doesn't suck, but it for sure does not succeed in delivering on the themes it beautifully showcases in its intro, making the rest of the game a facade and disappointment. Especially for the $70 price tag, it is most definitely not worth buying, either try it on game pass, or leave it alone. The conceptual potential seems like as deep as an ocean from the outside, but as shallow as a sink when you actually play, and most definitely not a Bioshock competitor.

I agree with almost everything, very nice review. To me personally the biggest issue with this game, aside from the poorly executed stealth mechanics and clunky melee combat, is that it feels completely aimless and poorly executed in what it tries to do. A 10 hours linear adventure with tighter combat, no open areas, less damn cameras and and a dozen less puzzles and locks would have done wonders to this game. It simply needed to be a more focused and polished experience.

1) shoot the cameras 2)melee combat feels fine 3)plenty of open areas in the open world section 4)the puzzles are meant to be challenging I agree with you on the unfinished stealth mechanic and the locks tho.

I was about to quit because of the monotony of the puzzles, but the power fantasy that gets achieved later and boss fights were cool. I'm glad I stuck it out. You articulated some great points that I agree with. Good review man.

Agree with author. The strongest side of this game is a new aesthetic of USSR. And that's all. Maybe developers have no enough experience to develop AAA game. Good start, but many mistakes

When this game was first revealed, what stuck out to me was the focus on unorthodox horror, tight focus, and unique design. It’s unfortunate that those aspects went to the wayside to be more like a bioshock clone when they were what could’ve made the game a potential gem

I beat this game mainly with Axe how you might ask because theres a fight glitch in the game as long as you duck when confronting the robots or a boss they can.t attack you only when they leap on you but you can avoid this maneuver if your quick all in all this game though it took 7yrs in the making after defeating the robot wifes of the hero the true villain escapes but its still fun to play just not twice.😊

I like to take my time and explore when playing open world games. The constant repairing of defeated broken robots makes me just want to rush to the next story point.

To me puzzles were never a problem I could just infinitely jump in the game by capping fps to 300 on 2k res for some reason you just can get through anything by it, but the game is full of bugs and I got softlocked a lot of times, considering lotta people have it too this game doesn't deserve it's price tag.

I HAVE been playing this game for the last 2 hours and i am so irritated and bored. There is no brightness control on playstation for the game so most of the time i can't see shit. As a former communist i find the storyline so damn unbelievable im getting a damn head ache.

Many things you got right on point, and I agree with your conclusion. Still some things that confuse you about this game can be easily explained. I believe you are not related whatsoever to the culture of former USSR countries, as it changes perspective quite a bit. Where you see absurdity - we see irony. Where you see overflow of trash talk - seemingly unnecessary and meaningless - well, I hate to break it to you, but Yes, they Are. And thats how we generally expect the "MC kind" to talk. It does not take away the point that it poorly translates to English, maybe they could have done a better work there. And the last why - there is an additional layer that hides rough edges for us - is a mixed nostalgia feeling that is blasted at you from every frame, every speaker, and surprisingly even from the plot, as from our perspective, given the circumstances, I would call it quite realistic give or take. I spent 40h on it and honestly quite liked it, yet I agree with you on most of the points. Surprisingly good quality for your channel size, Sub : )

This game had way to much hype. I literally fell asleep for a few minutes during the 30 minute opening segment! It's also super glitchy. It will randomly turn all the visuals bright white. I will give it another shot, but so for its just a waist of memory

brilliant review. Way to much puzzles, way to long intro. To start the game takes 1 hour . Really what the hell. Never compare this game to BioShock and Portal its nothing like them 2 and its a shame to put Atomic Heart name close to these 2 legends!

Atomic Heart was a big disappointment for me. I was really looking forward to this game and felt like it was Bioshock with a Soviet Union feel. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming and not all that good in the end. It was nothing more than a boring shooter with some light RPG elements.

Playing this, and honestly everything is correct except the combat. The combat is absolute dogshit as well. Dude dodges like a snail but w key works fine….😂not only that, my gawd….the gawd dayum puzzles are about to make me uninstall and not finish this shitter. Half way in and the dialogue too, I have muted this dumpster until I get to the end.
