Should you buy Atomic Heart?
Atomic Heart deserves it’s own place in the hierarchy within the gaming industry as far as I’m concerned and that’s regardless of any inspiration that was found from games that they themselves were inspired by the many different forms of media that came before them.

this game is exactly what this game meant to me it's not perfect but this Dev team said they were going to put out a game worked on a game and made something truly different than the rest of the stuff that steam and other platforms have to offer it's amazing to me that gamers will cry and cry about Deb's lying to them putting out half finished games not paying attention to their game and these devs actually made a game that you can tell is close to their hearts and they put a lot of passion into it but now because of the outrage surrounding this game these devs might never have a chance to get better and keep going gamers are single-handedly crushing what they desire the most companies have growing pains this is their first IP for Christ sake and for a first game it's amazing

you can't blame anyone for comparing it to Bioshock, especially since Mundfish was self-aware of its similarities. There is a scene in the game that even references Rapture.

Thanks for the insight! I had been watching Atomic Heart for a while since it looked so cool. The reviews have been divided but I'll definitely be playing it at some point. Got the PSVR2 yesterday. First time using VR and its crazy. Started RE8 in VR last night (first playthrough) and it's next level. Cheers!

I think it’s worth it! A little over hype lead to some harsh criticism but it’s a decent game. I’m jealous! Would you believe it, I’ve never experienced anything in VR before! I’d need to get on that! Sounds awesome! Cheers for watching Zane!

The game rocks! Dismembering robots reminds me of Soldier of Fortune... It's a bloody good time! Gets a solid 86/100 from me. A good game worth experiencing that feels unique and original in it's own right. Good combat, great, exploration, discovery, and atmosphere... Not many games hook me anymore because I've played too many since the early 90s, but this game hooks you and is a blast!

People don’t understand this game is it’s own game. And it is a mf masterpiece! Half gamers these days aren’t real gamers, call of duty fan boys comparing one game to this or that. Overly critical of everything, when they couldn’t even think of something as unique as this game. I’m only 15 hours in but I’m not even close to tired of this game yet and can’t wait for 4 DLCs

Hardly a master piece. The looting was over done. Seriously started to feel like a choir I didn't want to do anymore. The pacing was seriously way too slow. Alot of it felt like padding added later. It's attempts to be funny was out of place, overly done and sounded awkward. The overly sexually vending machine being the only highlight. Not afraid to say I laughed. Which is why you never hear of any other examples. It's a decent first game out of the gate, but it will hard put the creators on the map. Although we understand it's a different game. All things created are built off existing things and have similarities. Is it, it's own game. Lol, yeah definitely. With all that said. I can see the potential in the creators of the game. Seems like they got enough of a cult following to make more. So hopefully they can iron out the kinks and make a more stream lined gaming experience that doesn't feel like a choir to the wider audience.

A review on Atomic Heart actually focused on the gameplay? And giving a new developer with real people trying to feed mouths a fair chance? How fucking dare you?! ...great review. I agree with everything. Fully enjoying it even though it's clunky at times. Brings enough thought provoking lore combined with unique and fun gameplay that it still much more of a hit than a miss. Anyone giving this game below an 8 is just a political hack in my opinion. Even with it's flaws this is still easily a 8.5, closer to a 9 imo. Great entry into the market Mundfish, looking forward to more!

I mean, the backlash against Hogwarts became *unreasonable* with literal threats against TWITCH STREAMERS who just want to play the game and "reclaim" Harry Potter from the creator who wanted fo erase them. But the backlash against Atomic Heart is arguably *more understandable.* Not when the developers literally created a shell company in Cyprus so they could still keep getting paid when the world declared war against their owners, stakeholders, and benefactors for bankrolling the extermination of Ukrainians...

I watched your “days gone, should you buy in 2022?” Vid. You began the days gone vid by mentioning the terrible reviews it got, Atomic Heart has gotten the same kinda scores. Do you think it’ll eventually have the same cult player base as days gone? I haven’t played it yet, but I love the Cold War stylised art, it’s like a Soviet Fallout 4 vibe. It looks cool, the hand to hand looks about as functional as the dying light mechanics which is fine. This review convinced me even though I had to trawl to find a positive review, reviewers saying “it’s bad, don’t recommend”, while I’m thinking “um.. This looks awesome!”. 😂 P.s. the power wash simulator reference made me lol, because I’d never heard of it while thinking ‘what a brilliant game I.p.’, while enjoying how clean the bbq and lawn mower were getting. Glad I wasn’t tripping 😆

@@VHS_NEON The whole game itself is a literal demonstration on the failures of communism. Does it really have to spell it out with a direct line of “Communism bad!” for game critics to be able to get their head out of their ass?
@VHS_NEON
@VHS_NEON Жыл бұрын
@@MarkoPollo2009 It should have at least some form of criticism. It has none. The story is not about the failure of communism. Its about a group of people hijacking stuff and trying to impose their world view instead of communism. The main character still upholds his positive view of the communist ideal even at the end of the game, regardless what ending you get. Nor is the game ever satirical about the soviet union either. Imagine if the Wolfenstein games had you play as a Gestapo agent and atr no point would there be any criticism of the hrid reich or Nazi ideology? It would be just as bad.
@MarkoPollo2009
@MarkoPollo2009 Жыл бұрын
@@VHS_NEON Maybe the gaming industry does need to spell it out for you. The entire game is a direct demonstration of the failures of communism. You play as a dull and mindless army man who has been trained to serve his nation and follow its ideologies. While many in the gaming industry simply write him off as a off-putting protagonist with poor writing, the over the top and borderline melodramatic presentation of his simple mind serves to show as a demonstration of the dangerous of mindlessly following an ideology, as we learn as he progresses through the story and learns that his master has anything but the true and honest intentions that he had espoused origionally. As the story continues, the main characters ton shifts. You can see the cogs turning as he realizes that the powers given to one man by people who have collectively turned over their freedoms can and will be corrupted. In a sense, they even spell it out directly like you asked for by naming the thought network the "Kollektiv". Later on we learn that the failures of the Kollektiv were built in from the start, not by the original antagonist Pevlov - who was just an narcissistic and mentally unstable software engineer that was hoping for notoriety by exposing Sechenov's corruption - but by Sechenov himself, who had built in war weaponry and fighting capabilities into his servant robots from the start while deceiving the entire world to think they were incapable of doing so. It's a literal demonstration of the failures of communism: You cannot mindlessly turn over your rights and individual freedoms to the collective because the leaders at its helm will be corrupted by its power and will be able to destroy the collective as a whole... you know, almost exactly what happened under Stalin and Lenin. It even manages to throw in a jab at capitalism in there from another angle. During a dialog with Charles in the end, we learn that the US and its capitalist ways literally invited the Atmoic Heart with open arms. The people protested the use of robots because they feared losing their jobs, but the capitalist powers embraced the soviet robots for profiteering directly inviting in the robots that would cause their demise. It's brilliant writing really. If you also needed it to be spelled out even more. There are many dialogues with deceased, that very directly criticize communism. The HR Director who tells our protagonist that he's just a "simple army man that doesn't understand the values of individual freedoms and is frustrated by the leaderships ideology because it doesn't allow for individual thought." The bar tender in the theater that is frustrated because he's narrowed down to his role because the ideology doesn't allow for more unique expression of his personality. There's so many examples within these little dialogues that offer indirect criticism of the communist ideology, you just actually need to play the game with intent to see it. I almost feel bad for the developers. The story is intersting with its twist, but its really not that complex. They must really feel that western media is beyond dull, incapable of understanding a message unless its quite literally spelled out for them.

I think it’s a decent game in terms of art direction and visuals but it’s absolutely annoying when it comes to gameplay. At first it’s great but it quickly becomes extremely repetitive and grindy. You had to do a lot samey things in Bioshock too but Bioshock had much more consistent visuals and a far better story. Not to mention that Jack, even though he was silent, was far more likeable than the Crispy Critters guy from Atomic Heart.

@@Housian It's not his fault it has similarities to Bio Shock. Anyways, I played the game before watching reviews. I got bored after an hour. Forced myself to play another hour hoping it would pick up. I wanted to give it a chance. I'm sorry to say it failed. I simply lost my patience with it. So tired of seeing another lock on a door. Which lame puzzle do I have to solve now? Go to special vision. Make sure nothing is blue. If it is, suck longer. Even is you sucked it already. Need to get over there? Well first you go left that way, then right, then up, then forward, then down, then left, and finally solve an easy door lock that makes you question why it was even there. Reviewers are being honest when they call this game a choir. Even then the reviews I saw gave it credit for where it did well. So in short, you might love it or you might find it boring. We all thought it was visually good. They nailed the setting.
