I think it gets a little overrated because you got to play as snake again, I've always prefered 2 it's a lot more intense.

The oncoming rant is unhinged and unchecked for spelling mistakees don’t get me wrong I really really love snake he’s absolutely my favorite character in the series and I know it’s not the same snake in three but I understand being excited to play as snake again at least cosmetically. BUT hear me out There’s a really bad book called Trigger Warning by some old guy idk who but I watched a video about it by Jenny Nicholson. It’s a very good funny video and I recommend you watch it if you haven’t but BASICALLY the book is about this young, gun loving, snowflake hating, republican badass. SNAKE from the third game reminds me SO HARD of the main character from that awful fucking book and I know that it’s not a complaint that’s fair but I can’t help it. He’s a rookie I get it I get it but he’s always talking about how cool some gun is and explaining all the tactical bullshit about it and he DOESNT FUCK GIRLS because he must keep his eye on the mission (he would fuck his gun though) and then he gets his ass kicked in literally EVERY single circumstance that I’m NOT controlling him. Which actually…him getting his ass kicked is ok. My favorite scene in the game is probably the torture scene where he pisses himself (artistically) (pee more) (it’s not weird it’s artistic) (pee more) Snake in the first game also comes across like kinda a big dumb soldier guy but IDK in that game when he’s blatantly staring at some girls ass it’s kinda hilarious because the ass in question is only a few polygons. Ok I have more to say besides just how dorky snake is in this game. WHY is there suddenly an inventory quick select limit of 8. Mgs2 had the sub menus so all pistols are grouped together, all rifles, all boxes etc, and it worked so so good! Now I gotta open my menu and spend like 10 seconds just to use my shotgun and it adds up I HATE the inventory management and they KEPT IT FOR THE FORTH GAME. WHY. MAYBE it’s so they could put a wider variety of items in the game without worrying about turning the weapon select into an endless TOTK style list, but i don’t care. Instead of only 8 items, why not let me equip as many as I want? Let ME decide how long I want the weapon select list to be. If I end up scrolled for years just to find my shotgun it’d be my own decision at that point! I can’t wrap my head around this choice honestly it makes no sense like I can not FATHOM the thought process behind ruining a perfect system like the one in mgs2. Also the cobras are the lamest enemy group in the series. Also the enemy alert theme in the base… Is actually fucking sick. That alert theme is my favorite thing in the entire game. At my funeral I’m gonna have that theme interrupt whatever music they have playing halfway through.

I don't know about any book, I wasn't blown away by the story of 3 like I was with 2. I don't think the ps2 was really powerful enough to simulate the lush jungle environment they were going for. The maps seemed pretty spread out and gameplay felt more slow and methodical as a result. I think 2 benefitted from tighter level design and the combat felt much faster paced. If I'm not mistaken 2 also ran at 60fps compared to 3 at 30fps. I also much prefer the judo throw over CQC. No VR missions in 3, etc.

@@r3tr0sp3ct3r Also the codec/whatever it’s called in 3 is worse. The codec in the first two having actual FaceTime calls left room for a bit of flare in some scenes, like Otacon getting close to the camera when snake gets ambushed in mgs1, or the ai colonels face turning into a skull in 2. I get it makes sense for the time period, but threes codec has no fun scenes that have fun with the layout. Ig you don’t end up using the codec as MUCH as you did in the first games so it doesn’t matter, but MY code name is “nit P. Ick” so I gotta fill my role here

I never used the radio in 3 much because I wasn't as interested in the characters and it's kind of brown and boring, but yeah the codec looks better.
