I could watch an hour-long version of this quite happily, very poetic and visual. I am loving the entire calendar. 🎄

This was our favourite door thus far, and that's intended as high praise - we are so very thoroughly enjoying your Advent-ures. As for *this* installment, you have such a gentle gift for seeking out and seeing the majestic beauty in humble hidden places, and deftly framing said wonders to share with us all. That is a true gift; thank you again and as always for this beautiful interlude. We truly appreciate your making time to do this.

This is an Advent Calendar? Yes... but this is also a beautiful, absorbing, uplifting, wonderful series, given to us by this amazing man. Thank you, Shrimp...... and looking forward with delighted anticipation to the the rest of the Treat .

I have to say your audio narration is an unexpected delight

Oh, that was lovely. It reminded me of one of the Public Information Films of the 1960's and '70s - not the scary 'don't do this' ones, but the ones aimed at the tourist, the camper, the walker. A beautiful elegiac narration, with some classical music, and the odd sound effect. I was always fascinated by those. My younger brother, on the other hand, was terrified by them - he hated the ones that had sounds of battle, but show peaceful countryside. The film for Warwick Castle is one of those. Yours, however, is simply beautiful, and I shall be enjoying it again. Thank you. 👌👌👌

I'm slowly becoming fond of late autumn/early winter. It can, in fact, be beautiful. One just needs to look past the obvious grey and cold and focus on such little but meaningful things.
@ZagnutBarАй бұрын
You and Eva have quite different methods of reflecting.
@ConstantlyDamagedАй бұрын
They're both chasing something at their own pace. Mr. Shrimp's is slow, meandering, and without a specific goal beyond enlightenment. Eva's is as fast as her little legs will carry her, to find the ball and return it.

I never regret taking a walk in the woods in rainy weather. It's magical. A totally unique world of sounds and sights and smells.

Captivating! Thank you. The scenes in this video somehow reminded me of illustrations from a book that I received for a very long ago Christmas. Books, especially old and beloved ones, become a special sort of friend. So my plan for today is to take time to reacquaint myself with that beautiful pal that still lives on the bookshelf in my den.

This takes me back to my childhood. My mother was amused by the way I would stop and stare at the tiny details in plants and small insects, getting left behind as the rest of the family walked on.

Ah I loved this. I'm a big moss fan, and it's a wonderful miniature world all by itself. They go back hundreds of millions of years, and there are thousands of species across the globe. Loved your Atomic Attenborough narration as well, and a cameo from Eva is always welcome.
@silva7493Ай бұрын
I really loved this! Mosses are one of my very favorite things. I'll never forget my time in a state campground overlooking a huge bay in Kodiak Alaska, where moss fronds had individual leaves 1/4 of an inch long on it. You could walk through woods on brilliant green carpets extending as far as you could see, and they sounded and felt as though they were several feet thick. Although everything is enormous there.
@anniestumpy9918Ай бұрын
This was a really pleasant short little beautiful reminder that there are always things to appreciate, even if it's on other's behalf (like the rose hips as food for animals). Thank you :)

I never miss an episode! This was lovely! I don't know whether you are familiar with the children's program, Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, or perhaps it was too much of an American phenomenon that you wouldn't be familiar. His program evoked wonder and appreciation for the world around us. I think of your videos as being a bit like Mr. Rogers for adults who are still young at heart. Thank you for this.

If you have any microscope gadgets it’s worth taking some moss or leaves home to look through. I work on springtails and when I dig through moss to find them even a small patch is teeming, there’s also mites and isopods and pseudoscorpions etc. They are also often in the gills of the tiny parasols. It is also fun because you can do this at any time of year - especially in the winter when lots of nature has quietened down.
@markfergerson2145Ай бұрын
When I was five I was gifted a magnifying glass. I took it on a walk in our back yard and had my Leeuwenhoek moment when I looked at some moss on a stone near the trunk of a tree. There were so many tiny things moving around, being hatched, living their lives, eating and being eaten that I never looked at the world the same way afterward. That was before I even knew microscopes existed.
@whatevername4873Ай бұрын
