Great video, I have started using my Ninja Blade again and referred to your video for a refresher. I love the fact that you got right into the video. Your setup for seeing what your doing what buttons you're pressing even though it's a different device is excellent.

Since you talk about battery life, I think it's important to note that all new Shoguns will be shipped with a 5200 mAh battery, and all registered owners will be sent one at no cost. I think that's phenomenal customer service. I've been using a 6300 mAh battery on mine and didn't need to switch all day shooting both 4K and 1080.

What a great video on this, I have watched so many videos on Atomos monitors but NO ones as explained all the features and how they work as well as you. Wave forms, zebras, thank you for doing this it as helped me decide I need one. But I think the new Ninja V will be better for me.

TomAntosFilms Great stuff Tom!! Can you tell me what the difference will be in image quality when you compare a normal 1080p file to a 4K file when you shoot with the Sony A7s?? I have shot normal 1080p with my A7s and then played it through a 55" 4K monitor that does up-scaling and it looks very good to say the least! In fact I really do not see a very big difference between the GH4 4K and the up-scaled A7s image... Your comments Tom??

Tom, good review. Now I have a much better understanding of this piece of tool. I got mine last week and I will be using it with the Sony PMW320K, bypassing the ever expensive SxS cards. With regards the plastic build of the Shogun. My understanding is that it will be a much lighter addition to the weight of your set-up, being mounted on the top of your camera. Everton

Perhaps a Silly question... Can the ATOMOS SHOGUN record 1080p at 120 FPS from a Sony A7S - as in does the HDMI signal allow for higher FPS rates outside of the camera's own internal recording capabilities? The reason I ask is that the camera settings on the Sony A7S only allows for 120fps for the 720p HD setting and not the 1080p.
@MicDoesThings9 жыл бұрын
looks like the video signal is a bit delayed. Is that the case? Cause I'm experiencing that with the Ninja 2
@TomAntos9 жыл бұрын
Yes it is... that's not a problem with the shogun it's a problem caused by HDMI technology. Any device that's connected using HDMI cables will have a delay.
@MicDoesThings9 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom. I only find it a bit annoying when monitoring audio on the Ninja 2 because I can hear my talent in the background and the audio feed a quarter of a second delayed. By the way... the video you shot in Rome was fantastic!

+Tom Antos (Tom Antos Films) what about SDI? If I use an HDMI to SDI converter and then connect it to the recorder, will I still get the delay?

Hİ Mr. Antos I would be pleasure if you reply my question. I am trying to be more familiar with exposure but I am really stuck with Canon c300 mkii with shogun inferno. 1- For Proses Raw with shogun inferno what is the proper exposure? I mean if I use waveform on inferno for exposure, where 18% grey card should be on? And would it be changed both c log 2 and 3? 2- İf I decided to shoot internally C log 2- cinema gamut- production main setting for C300 mkii where grey card should be? 3- I responed to my question about noise on shogun inferno when shoot internal c-log2; a dop said don't apply lut from your camera to shogun them noise will dissaper. What do you think about it? thank you.

Getting deeper into my Atomos Ninja V (now that Nikon has delivered ProRes RAW) and I assume that the functionality for Wave and Vectoring is (about) the same??? Using the Zoom F4 recorder and tentacle 🐙 to get a more accurate Time Code (syncing a base track to my Z6 left audio track to match) but I hear that there is a lag writing to the Atomos recoders... any tips/tricks to re-sync? Either way, the audio will be real-time but the video will be lagging behind... hopefully... consistently!

Hi Tom, I notice some latency on the monitor, is this a problem you think?
@AntosMedia10 жыл бұрын
Not really... that's the case with using HDMI not the monitor. Any monitor you use that's connected via HDMI will have that... that's why when playing Xbox or PlayStation you have to adjust latency settings for different TV's

Thanks so much for this. I just received my Atomos Assassin for my Sony A7s. Quick question. When shooting in Slog2, most people suggest shooting around +2 stops over. With regards to this, do I read the histogram the same way with not clipping over 100 with the highlights?

How tight is HDMI port on that SHOGUN? After the too tight HDMI port on my smallHD AC7 leading to damage, I no longer trust smallHD, and I'm looking for another brand.
@TomAntos10 жыл бұрын
Christopher Cox Its pretty tight... then again depends on the HDMI cable and the plug on that.
@CommiePinko10110 жыл бұрын
Tom Antos Thanks for letting me know. As for HDMI cables. I've found the plug size on them to be more consistent than the size of the HDMI terminals on various devices, including high end YAMAHA receivers.

Hi, can you have video in via SDI and at the same time video out via HDMI?
@LaurentLaborde9 жыл бұрын
+Teofil Harii never tried but yes, with a 1 frame delay (or is it 0?) if i remember correctly. check the manual.
@LaurentLaborde9 жыл бұрын
+Teofil Harii Does the Shogun loop out 4K over HDMI? Yes. Whatever the input resolution and frame rate is will be output over HDMI & SDI. You have a built in converter. Does the Shogun downscale 4K to HD on the loop out and in playback? Version 6.1 or earlier did not have HD downscale. However, now with AtomOS 6.2 available, a 4K UHD input to 1080p output with the same frame rate can be realized. This means you can still work with your existing HD infrastructure (ie HD monitor, HD wireless transmitter, HD EVF etc) but record to 4K. Do you support SDI loop out from a HDMI input? Yes. You have a built in bi direction converter. Conversion is always on between HDMI and SDI and vice versa. What is the exact delay of HDMI from Shogun? 1 frame delay on output. Remember that cameras have a delay on their HDMI output as well. The delay of the Shogun is a maximum of 1 frame, in addition to the delay from the camera. Do you support HDMI loop out from a SDI input? Yes. You have a built in bi direction converter. Conversion is always on between HDMI and SDI and vice versa
