I have an S8. It is awesome value for money. I didn't know it could do chat gpt. Thanks for sharing.

There might be an update for yours? Or you could add the DriveChat app to it via one of the app stores? Thanks for watching!

What a trip, I was looking at your Unraid content and found this. I have the S8 Premium, I bought it before my SBC adventures. Super cool to see a video on it. I still need to find the right codes for the steering wheel, it was way too hot to sit there and try all the settings the other day. Seems like a winter project, lol. I did add a better am/fm antenna and a different Wifi module that I extended for better signal when the stock module went out. I told you it's been hot here, lol. I haven't checked for updates in a year plus so I'll go check it out now, thanks for the info! I'll LISTEN to your content on KZbin when I drive. Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I've been SUPER happy with the S8 since I got it installed. My steering wheel buttons all work (it can be a bit to get it set up initially) and it's easy to use. I did end up adding a pre-amp between the S8 and my subwoofer amplifier as the voltage on the S8's USB out isn't quite enough, but once I did that, my subwoofer hits harder than ever :) Thanks for watching and commenting!!

Thanks for the update. I first found your channel when looking into having a Pi based stereo in the car, something I still haven't done :( . Your ATOTO looks nice, I hope it serves you well.

Thanks!! As long as you've got a data connection, you can chat a bunch!!

I wish the chat gpt assistant could read data from the obd and actually suggest diagnosis

I bought the s8 ms and so far loving it although I'm having what I assume is user error issues with the Bluetooth 2 connection although I've only had this head unit for a few hours now

Bluetooth 2 is for things like the OBDII scanner from what I can tell

Hey how did u get the ui light to work? Mine won't turn on automatically.

I've actually noticed the same thing. I don't drive at night much so I didn't notice it at first, but I've noticed that I have to go in and toggle the setting off and on (even though it's already on). Not sure what's going on with that

@DBTechYT well shux atoto support just argued with me and said that I soldered a bad connection.

this appears to be geared more toward the electronics person than the audio file type. It probably doesn't say but I was wondering what the voltage output of the RCA's are. Also does it have carplay?
@DBTechYT3 ай бұрын
I will say that the RCA line out voltage for the subwoofer is kinda on the low side in my opinion. I've considered getting a 2 channel line out converter/amplifier to go between this and my amp for better signal strength, but it's not terrible. I wasn't able to test if it's got carplay as I don't use Apple devices, so you'll want to look through their site/listings to make sure it fits that need.

Would have really loved to see it connect to Plex and/or PlexAMP over its own 5g connection.
@DBTechYT3 ай бұрын
Maybe I'll have to do a Channel Members/Patreon video with some extras like that so i can connect it to my house and remotely access stuff.... Also, it's only 4G compatible, not 5G :(
@unibrowser13 ай бұрын
@DBTechYT Well 4G should be fine for music even with a spotty connection. Plus you can tell Plexamp to pre-cache a certain amount in case connection is spotty. This is a very cool gadget!

Can you check the data being sent and where? My concern is that it'd dump your personal data to some servers that belong to General Xi
@DBTechYT3 ай бұрын
because it's an android-based device, you could put a network monitoring app on it to see what's going on

Only reason I stay away from Android head units is the low voltage outs. If I'm spending for car audio then I want sound quality. I can play with my phone at home. But no, not really interested in even more AI/LLM stuff invading every aspect of life.
@DBTechYT2 ай бұрын
I agree with the low line out voltages and I've been thinking about getting a line out converter/amplifier to bring the line out voltage up to something like 10v (my amp supports up to 40v in) to help with sound quality. And I've only ever used the AI/LLM stuff for demonstrative purposes and will likely never use it now that the video has been completed :)
