I believe there to be a slight inaccuracy at 12:57 . It is mentioned that Vy is to be found between Vmp and Vmd, but Vy is always greater (or equal) to Vmd. At least this is what it makes us understand it as. Btw, thank you so much for the videos, not only on this subject but also the others, very good job :D

To be sure that i understood the analogy for the climb angle: flight path angle is the angle of the vertical trajectory of the plane over time whatever its attitude, and climb angle is the angle of the plane ?
@atplclass11 ай бұрын
Flight path angle: Where the plane is, compared to where it started on the ground draw a line and find the angle. Pitch: aircraft nose compared to horizon. Climb angle: vertical and horizontal comparison through the pocket of air it is currently flying. In no wind conditions climb angle and FPA will be the same. But when we add in wind the pocket of air we are climbing through moves making the FPA lower (tailwind) or higher (headwind).

So am I right to call the climb angle angle of attack???
@atplclass Жыл бұрын
No. Angle of attack is between relative airflow and the chord of the wing. Whereas climb angle is based on the distance travelled through the air horizontally and vertically. Not to be confused with pitch angle which is just the angle between the main longitudinal axis of the plane and the horizon.
