Originally named Retribution, American metalcore band Atreyu opted for their name change in tribute to the character from The Neverending Story, to avoid being confused with another band called Retribution, also hailing from Californian roots. With the formalities out of the way, Atreyu has gone on to release five studio albums since its formation in 1998. Experiencing a change in band members its most recent line-up, said to be on a hiatus, include Alex Varkatzas, Dan Jacobs, Travis Miguel, Marc McKnight and Brandon Saller.

This just goes to show what can be done in the studio with vocal work. It's obvious that Alex cannot sing worth a damn. I've yet to see any live performance where he sounds even halfway decent. He's out of tune and completely flat in every single instance I've ever seen.

hankfully it's a little better than it was. I have to say I liked a few of their songs and as soon as I saw their performance of this song in the 2008 weenie roast video. If you think this is bad, just look at that video. It's the wort live performance I have ever seen by a band, at least singing wise.

The main singer ruins vocals every single performance i've seem so far. He's terrible, kick this guy out. Brandon sings beautifully, and he plays drums very well too. Alex's work is only singing and he cant barely do this. =/

He has had better performances, he told in a interview that he started doing "decent clean singing" on records, so he knows that hes not good at it and he is learning. IDK how they sound now that they reunited, but at least he knows he isn't good at it.

The vocalist has Genuenly good screaming for metal, but absolutely awful singing. He sounds awful Genuenly nothing like he does in the studio…. I swear I could do a better job (not the screaming, he’s great at that) but the singing… and I can’t even sing, he’s just completely of tune, it’s almost as if he’s trying to parody himself 😂
