Atreyu - Come Down

These guys have had a crazy journey, and I'm always happy to see them come around with these albums. Like many others before them, there is good, and bad but this entire album makes me feel like I'm on my 20s again. Working at a grocery store, no car, and a longboard was how I made my way around the world. No fucks to give, amd Atreyu by my side. My first rehab, 2nd rehab, my wedding, and the birth of my 2 daughters are all marked with some of their greatest stuff. Keep on keeping on!

@@PoloDavey most definatley my friend. Just recently picked up my 12yr chip. These guys played a big time role in my choice of music, and following through with learning an instrument during my early years of recovery. I finally got a chance to see them 2yes ago at the first "when we were young" music festival and I plan on seeing them again this year along with the awesome line up they have.

After listening to Atreyu for the better part of, almost, half my life I finally got to see them live in September 2023. It was a moment I won’t forget, and really showed me how much Atreyu’s music has meant to me growing up. Anyways, this video and Forevermore really show that, at their core, they’re just a bunch of friends that truly just enjoy each other’s company. Forever thankful for these guys. Keep cranking out the jams!

Suicide notes and the curse are two of my all time favorite albums. I even have an Atreyu tattoo. I’ve been so bummed about these guys on everything after the curse. I hate to say it but I’m glad they let Alex go. He’s putting out some amazing stuff lately

I love this song and this music video. It’s a work of art, and I can relate. The way I interpret it is that people who get high to escape reality end up hurting themselves more and often end up looking foolish. -Hence them dressed up as birds and flying through the sky. And them being like zombies in the beginning whose lives seem to be revolving around getting f***** up. Plus “reality is a fickle beast, Cruel Impatient and cold. I need to find the sacred place between losing the peace and losing my grip. I need to chain this beast up before it bites me again.” Implies someone struggling with addiction and trying to escape the harsh realities of life or their circumstances via substances. They understand that it helps them relax but they tend to overdo it and ‘lose their grip’. Yet they still have a longing for it even though they understand they tend to overdo it, but want to be able to find the perfect balance of not overdoing it I.e. ‘the sacred place between losing the peace and losing my grip’. “Sleep walking in the undertow, I slowly see the light. Imperfect at the surface, watch this fucker come to life” - I interpret this as they’ve been going through life dazed and confused, yet still functioning, but not at a very high level, and they tend to be in their own world and somewhat withdrawn from others and other people wonder if something might be wrong with them… perhaps gossiping, etc. and ‘coming back to life’ implies that they’re no longer high anymore and either came down and/or have decided to leave their habit behind and their regular personality while sober is coming back and they are more talkative and outgoing, perhaps. They then communicate that we all essentially go through some s*** in life, sometimes feel like we’re lost, and to not beat ourselves up about it. Plus I like how they made fun of their old frontman, Alex V, for talking all kinds of crap about the band. They have a great sense of humor. Their music video for ‘Drowning’ I thought was really funny, despite the overall tone of the lyrics and song itself.
