I don't know if this idea is too specific, but it would be interesting to see which 3-4 trucks to bring, if you were limited to only those, for each map. Would make a cool challenge and help co-op people who wants to divide specific jobs between them. Love the content man!

If you know anyone who has the phase 1 DLC while not having it yourself you can nab the AWD upgrade for the GMC if you are in their session as long as they are the host IIRC.

I really like the fleetstar you get when you first get the garage, I used mine with only awd and diff lockers to recover all drowned vehicles and get the kodiak out, it's a brilliant all rounder I'd say

I agree. I still use the Fleetstar regularly, as there isn't much that it can't handle, and has rescued many trucks for me.

I think a big part of why the Loadstar retained its relevance ties into its utility and how fun it is to drive. It’s one of the few scouts with extended functionality, given that it can also moonlight as a repair truck or a crane truck. And if I’m not mistaken, I think the Loadstar is also still the fastest scout in the game. Combine this with its short, squat body and bouncy suspension and you have a truck that’s pretty stable, yet still exciting to drive. Plus it just has a great aesthetic. IMO its still one of the best-looking trucks in the game.

Great wrap-up, with most of which I agree. 👍 Twinsteer is by far my favorite truck in the game. I usually have at least 6, and usually take 2 everywhere. 8 cargo slots, no trailers, and a tag-along rescue vehicle. I use 2, with 4 L04f's on board to open new maps. I drop the 🍞s off around the map as mini service stations. Can't remember the last time I ran out of fuel. I also like the big Derry. It's great for making big hauls through tight terrain. I used it extensively in Alaska and Yukon. And, of course, the LS 1700 is still one of my favorite scouts. That truck has saved my bacon more times than I can count. ❤️

The p16 has saved me so many times as a recovery truck. Trying to haul logs with the p12 and getting stuck on inclines, the p16 to the rescue

For me, the White Western Star 4964 is my one of my favourites. Its not the best, i'll admit but it can handle (almost) every terrain, it is versatile and it looks good. It is definitly a recommended choise for every map (yes, even Imandra).

No idea how this truck didn't make the list. I only discovered it recently but with the right tires, and all the upgrades it's quickly become one of my favorite trucks. I have yet to try it in deep snow, in deep mud with heavy loads it struggles a bit, but I've only managed to get it stuck with extremely heavy loads. How the hell did this truck not make it on this list?

Oh the Pacific P16, how I love/hate that truck. Probably one of the coolest looking trucks in the game, but it's so outclassed by everything else. I wish they gave it some love.

Only AWD and Pacific P16 will be fine,very powerfull but lacks good handling but all terrain vehicles are known to have bad handling but mine went through deep mud close to the trailer store of Zimnegorsk carrying long logs. The best american truck is CAT 745G by a mile,it's a supreme beast no matter where you are with super tires and powerfull engine combined with good stability and special gearbox. CAT is so good i can go through a lot of terrain in Taymyr carrying medium logs just with L+diff lock. The best american scout is Loadstar 1700.

The Freightliner M91 is a great tractor for pulling trailers, especially saddle mounted trailers. It's small size can be an advantage and it's got decent fuel efficiency. The White Western Star is also probably the best early game truck. Powerful, tough and highly versatile. I use mine as a recovery vehicle and it's never failed.

Hello Ben! Great video, I liked your opinion, but in place of Derry Longhorn, I put the International Paystar 5600TS that even having a smaller fuel tank and an equal consumption of the CAT 770G. It has advantages (Type: 3 Slot Platform + Mini Crane + Trailer). And not to mention other combos that this truck has.. (And it has curtains too). But that's in my opinion.. But I liked the video! The Intl. Loadstar is a beast! I just love it's addon variety. And of courseze Cat 745 is really the day saving machine with the fuel addon, but beware of deep water.

the plethera of mods that enable trailers and some useful logging addons to the 6900 make the truck an absolute beast of a truck and a rather fun challenge to take on tighter trails and roads with the 6900 + large drawbar trailer.

Hi Ben - Very happy to see the Kodiak C70 appear on your list. I love this truck because it's rather nimble in many tricky situations, and its ground clearance is stunning, especially with the raised suspension. I also want to give the Derry Longhorn 3194 a shout-out. Despite only having 2 add-ons (Saddle high & low), it's a truck that has proven to be robust and dependable for hauling larger semi-trailers. I normally use the P16 with these semi-trailers, but found the 3194 to be more 'grippy' in certain spots thanks to its always-on AWD and diff lock. Kodiak is the jack of all trades, if you drive carefully you can use it in a lot of places. Probably on of the most versatile trucks in the game

While I never got much of a chance to try out the Derry 4520 before they gave it a new engine, the moment I started using it I loved it. While it certainly doesn't have the best power-to-weight ratio, it does have plenty of grunt for most loads, and the ability to turn far better than a surprising amount of off-road and heavy-duty trucks, as well as some scouts, comes in especially handy at times. It handles logging easily and having a low and high saddle I feel makes it a decent bit more versatile than other equally heavy trucks.

i used the Derry Longhorn after the buff and really enjoyed it, after previously hating it but i tried to use it again just a day or two ago and it completely feels like they re-nerfed it.

I'd swap out the Derry and the HX520 for the WWS and P512 (or the Fleetstar). Also, the CATs cannot do the crane+2 slot+trailer, but the P512, Fleetstar and HX520 can. The P512 is very underrated The Fleetstar is better than the MH9500, the GMC is a gas guzzler under load, unstable with the raised and for early players doesn't have AWD. Although the MH has the party trick of using larger tires without raised, the Fleetstar also gets most of it's upgrades on Black River. I also find both Derrys underpowered, at least with the high range gearbox.

If it is only possible to use large tires without rasing is better to use standard suspension (GMC and Varon Grad). Of course, GMC without AWD is worst, but in normal mode it is worth getting it at the beginning with a scout. Michigan with Tayga and GMC (AWD) is very easy, too easy.

P512 is a great, versatile Heavy truck. Only the 200l tank volume sucks a bit The PayStar5070 is also a great start truck, with high susp. MUDtires and crane+2 slot+trailer

International load star 1700. Engine upgrade + lift kit and that thing is a little gremlin. Grab up a improved trans and you are set for awhile. Scout wise. It’s lack of mud tire use is definitely understood. Thing would be unstoppable with them. It’s one minor set back. Love that little demon lol. Takes a beating, keeps on ticking.

I believe the Fleetstar needs a good hunk-a-love, beautiful truck, and while, yes, laborious to upgrade, a very fun and strong truck for Michigan/early-mid game.

little late to the party, but I higly recommend not sleeping on the International Transtar. What it lacks in diff, awd and suspension it makes up for torque and low centre of gravity. It is also not thirsty on gas at all so its handy in Michigan and Alaska on hard modes to save on precious fuel.

Derry Longhorn 4520 has always been a beast. Neither the Ziks or the Kolobs can fit chains. Also the steering rear axle means that it handles that 8 slot trailer like nobody's business. The thing turns on a dime, puts down good power and it can fit chains. It may seem trivial, until you have to haul some ungodly amount of material up an icy hill to a gold mine in the Yukon.

I Play on Hard the most time and use the GMC 9500, Brigadier and WesternX49 coz im off AWD most time(to save gas) and thay got a decent torque power and that comes in handy if I use the high-gearbox and swap in the H gear, so I can fly Dirt and some Swampy roads(have to watch for the suspension or I kill them). Well its not easy for new players to drive that way coz u need to know how to use the engine, but once u get the feel for it u can do crazy there like howling 3 loads medium loggs at the same time with the WesternX49 at once(truck addon+2 trailers, one is winched) and it gos fine. I let some ppl Online dump folded seeing me do stuff like that.😂 Good video great content as ever👍

Sounds like you are a SnowRunner pro, good job. I think it's easy to just get into the habit of AWD on and full speed ahead, which is definitely not always necessary and less efficient on fuel. I really should play more hard mode. Cheers for watching!

White western star is my favorite lol went outta my way to get all the upgrades xD it just looks so good, not the most capable but super stable, like so stable I use it as a scout since the scouts are lack luster and it just powers thru anything, it might take 30 minutes to get thru that mud but you'll do it and without using the wench! The most powerfull are ANK and Paystar but very unstable and spend a lot. One of the best is White Western Star because it's versatile and better than Fleetstar and stable. That CAT you have in the video i have to find because i believe that truck is a serious beast.

Longhorn is absolutely great for pulling heavy cargos. Only thing I hate about it is it's speed. However like Azov, this beast is slow and steady. Also the rear wheel steer is good for making smaller turns at some points.

First of all great vid as usual and I was waiting for this list because as you said the russian trucks are better in the game giving the american truck an "underrated and forgettable " feeling. I almost agree on everything except for some trucks: first of all White Western Star and Fleetstar must have been on the list I've used them on every map in the game from Michigan to Maine and they've never let me down and so I would replace the kodiak by the Fleetstar and the Jimmy by the White. I would have chose the Freightliner 114SD over the two Cats because I find it better offroad than them and also less fuel angry when under load. As for the other trucks they are in fact really good american trucks if you know their strengh and weakness. PS: I would have put also Paystar 5070 at the same place with the Derry longhorn (like an honorable mention) because this trucks can be really good if you know how to drive them as one is very fuel angry, quite unstable but very capable and the other quite underpowered but still very capable. I really really wanted that pacific to be good, but its only downfall for me is its huge weight and lack of power to compensate for it. I came to a dead stop on the road going up a slight hill in Michigan with logs on the back. There was no mud and no issue with traction. The engine just didn't have the power to turn the wheels. I was very sad about that. But maybe it will get an engine upgrade one day like the Derry did.

@@UKeXtremeMedia The other killer is that upgraded, it has a hilariously bad issue about tipping, especially when you use it for the intended role of logging. That thing will tip over if you sneeze in the same county. It's kinda a -1 sword IMO, since early on it's a beast of a truck that'll help conquer some challenges, but it very very quickly becomes outmoded.

King of low saddle+crane (best for completing the game) BM17. Low nose isn't as disturbing as many would say, the saddle positioned closer to the cab than any other truck, so the rear axles get more grip, ergo more fuel efficient, cuz you wont need to use as many awd. In high low you get loads of torque, so lack of diff isn't problem. P12 long logs+log crane, always on diff. Best for logging if you don't mind the slow speed. Best trucks: bm, p12, twinsteer, loadstar, cat

Hey bud. Thanks for the love. I think most people enforce region-specific trucks, manual loading, no recover and maybe no cheesing like buying fuel trailers to use then sell back at full price. You could also try a steering wheel although it's a mixed bag. The lack of manual gears hampers the experience somewhat. Hopefully that helps!

@@ATribeCalledCars Cheers. Take that onboard. Shame there isn't a simple mod that 1. Charges for fuel and repairs and 2. Charges a rental fee for trailers. I already have the "No Recovery" mod. The other immersion mods out there, are a bit OTT for my taste. It would be a simple case of 2 or 3 adjustments to gameplay but make a massive difference to Normal gameplay.

Nice video, mostly agree with you, just some differences: Instead of CAT680 I prefer Paystar 5070: high Suspension, MUDtires and Crane+bed+trailer HX520 is a great truck to get small things done fast Dont like the Kodiak much, themissing third axle makes it lift front axle when drawing Semis ANK is great due to Mud Tires and Perma AWD+DiffLock but has tiny tank and is tippy as well, so I dont like so much TwinSteer is the best US-option to get 4 loads anywhere, with all the upgrades its just a beast! CAT745 definetely one of the best haulers and with Tank addon great recovery and utility truck! I also Prefer P12 instead of P16 due to its AWD and great ground clearance. I could have a more powerfull engine, but its great for hauling heavy trailers through harsh terrain. Loadstar is a great Scout and together with YAR the best, that can pull scout trailers as the prototype GMC is iconic and with all the upgrades from later maps it can easily mess with Fleetstar, WhiteWestern and even CAT and Royal The Derry is also a great hauler, it has a great turning angle and with chain tires its the best truck for Alaska in my eyes (with super heavy trailer) In Addition I add to my personal Top10: Ford f750 as a great Scout and small cargo truck with autonomous winch(!), PayStar5600TS which is thirsty as well but a great offroader with high load capa and biggest fuel tank in game (!) P512 as "special mention" because its cool and versitile - even if the small tank and lack of awd suck ;-)

Some solid insight and suggestions, the 5600TS is great so maybe I should have gone with it. And the 512 although I find the lack of AWD in SnowRunner is particularly noticeable. P12 I always find underwhelming compared to the Vorons and Taygas but obviously for America/Canada it's worth a look as you said. Edit: The F 750 is excellent, I cheated a bit by mentioning it in the video. At least people will know to give it a try.

I never liked the Loadstar that much. Drinks a ton of fuel, gets stuck super easily. The F-750 is pretty much better in every way. Better offroad and more fuel efficient. All Loadstar really has going for it is it can tow scout trailers, and who tows cargo with a scout trailer? As for a fuel trailer I rather just winch it behind a Tatarian, and I usually use the Yar for the radar. I won't deny the Loadstar is a fan favourite, but for me it's just a meh truck. I haven't tested it yet but I've heard the drop axles might actually be useful. Supposedly they help on soft ice by redistributing weight and taking some pressure off the front axles. I haven't been in Amur or Kola in a bit and Alaska doesn't have soft ice, so I haven't been able to put it to the test. But I have heard it. I'd say, based on the trucks I use most, my top 10 america trucks would be - F-750 - GMC Brigadier - Western Star Twin-Steer - CAT 6T681 - Western Star 49X - CAT forklift - Chevy Apache - Forester - CAT 745C - Derry Longhorn 4520 The Apache has been slowly creeping it's way up the list for me. When used the right way, it's kinda like a American Yar. It has problems, it can't hold a gear in auto to save to save it's life for example. But offroad, man stick thing in medium low (not Low+) and you'll be amazed what this truck can just walk it's way though. Plus it has good stability, is pretty small and narrow so it fits places, lots of ground clearance for going over rocks. As long as you can accept going slow, it can actually get you a lot of places. It's a lot more capable then I initially gave it credit for after buying it. Forklift is kinda a similar story. Take the useless boom arm off it and run it around as a scout, and this thing will go anywhere. Like I go into Lake Covd, and I thank this thing off the road and it just crawls. Some spots in Lake Kovd I've even gotten the mighty Tatarin stuck. And I love the Tatarin, but I'm just saying so far I have not found a single mud hole or snow drift that has gotten the forklift stuck. You do have to stay clear of basically any bit of water at all, and like the Apache it's not fast, it's not going to run you from one end of the map to the other in 2 minutes flat. But for what it does do, it's pretty damn good at it. 745C and Forester only make my list because of short logs. Honestly I hate driving them, on PS4 (with controller not a wheel) the steering is still bugged on them. So if you go to turn right for example, they'll jolt left before turning right. Issue doesn't seem to happen on wheel, but I don't have a wheel. These things are undrivable on controller in Auto gear. At best I can manage high gear, and even then it's torture to drive them and I've found myself in the ditch more then once even in high. But hey, when you are moving 3 loads of logs by yourself at one time, you can't really complain to much. CT681 and 49X are my short log trucks. 49X has a mid bumper winch point making it a great secondary truck. And honestly the two does the job pretty dang well together. Derry 45 has become probably my main long log truck with the P12 second and P16 third.

Yeah, it's a bit fuel hungry but the advantage it gets is having what amounts to a medium truck engine in a vehicle with a third that weight. Once you grab the raised suspension, and toss some solid off-road tires onto the chassis; the thing won't flinch at all but the worst mud in the game. It also isn't locked behind Lake Kovd, which for me doing maps in order. EG I cleared all upgrades, and got every truck before moving on. Meant by the time I had the 750, I kinda just was like: "Neat, but I've got other vehicles that do this better." Especially with the MISERABLE stock power-to-weight ratio, which requires exploring a hard as nails map to fix.

Hi Ben, please do a review of White Western Star 4964, I've only recently tried it, and it's probably better than ALL the trucks you have listed here. (With full upgrades, and Off Road Gearbox). It's an amazing truck, that has taken first place in my inventory, even surpassing the Vorons and Tayga. (Although it's nowhere near as good in really sticky mud or deep snow)

@@ATribeCalledCars please do, even if you don't do a video on it, make sure to check it out. The truck is an absolute joy to drive, as long as you don't overload it. (I've actually done long logs on it, and for everything except heavy mud and deep rivers it actually outperforms the Azov trucks, and the P16) I was stunned, either this thing got a HUGE buff or it's been that way since the beginning and people just didn't notice. I've always dismissed the American trucks because of their lack of mud tires and suspension (apart from the Ank83) but now I'm gonna go back and check all of them (or at least the ones that have raised suspensions)

Imo the gmc 9500 performs better w/ stock suspension, it's wheel well still accepts the big tire option..the lower center of gravity is needed it tips to much without 4wd*

Good point, if you can fit the biggest wheels without maximising the ride height it can be beneficial for stability. Just watch out for some rocks...

Yep. I prefer the MH9500 with stock suspension and the biggest tires it can equip. It performs great in that configuration. I used it on most of the maps.

After seeing the starter GMC in that list i imagen alot of ppl would question WHY? Even if it was added just becouse its free the Fleetstar is sitting right there at the Garage and u dont need any DLC to make it useful. The GMC is not better then the Fleetstar even after fully upgraded. Using addon for fuel or repair sure but cargo hauling there are far better options for that.

Fleetstar is handy, but in my opinion the GMC is much more stable making it more pleasant to use. The trick is to fit 47" tires without raised suspension.

F750 and 5600TS really deserve in the list. 745C is not only an all-terrain fuel carrier and logger, but also is a good deep mud and thin ice helper. In my opinion, CT680, HX520, plus GMC8000, 114SD which are not in your list, I think they are just average. CT681, 49X and 3194, I can't accept any dead axle on my truck, so P16 is out too. If MH9500 can be on the list, F2070A should also be. Because it doesn't need player to fight with the deep snow and annoying stones in Kola to find its AWD upgrade, and is free too. The White Star was great until it hit snow, and then it was pretty much useless. Chained tires on icy roads were a bonus, but outside of that I found myself repeatedly benching the truck. It performed especially poorly on the first Russia map. The mud there is more heinous than Michigan apparently.

@@ATribeCalledCars In my various attempts to mod the trucks to my own tastes adding power to the drop axles usually helps as its no longer just dead ground resistance. That said the drop axles are usually not effected by tire changes so they remain street tires. Once or twice they have helped me get out of a high center situation. If there is a situation in which a stock non modded drop axle is useful it must as you said extremely niche.

@@ATribeCalledCars In this game, it's only for keeping a vehicle from being high centered. In reality, lowered, it offers an increased load capacity. Raised it provides less friciton and drag, and saves fuel. Not sure if it does in this game, but would be impressed if it did.

Partially. Year 2 is not worth it. The whole of phase 5 is barely a half of a normal map size, 2 maps of 1x1km (20-30 hours play). Phase 6 is ok 2 map of 2x2km (~60-70h play). I am not sure about Tatras if they're included, check for it on the page. Year 1 is worth it. A lot of maps, vehicles and tasks.

I think it is but I base it on hours played. So long as it lasts longer than a movie I'm usually pretty happy - games are great value for money relative to a lot of things. At least, that's how I see it.
