That wasn’t him tripping out, if you listen to what he said to jimmy, it’s just a visualization of what’s going through his head at least from my opinion. The cement in the feet refers to him not falling off the bridge, the falling off the ship at the end of the stairs refers to him wanting to start over and try something new (the ladders being the options he has)

Yeah Curly wasn't a hero either in the history he basically let Jimmy take advantage of Anya and didn't let her have a gun to defend herself or try to confront Jimmy about it, he also let Jimmy do what ever he wanted in the ship and didn't stop him when he enter the cockpit. He knew Jimmy wasn't a good person but refused to hold him accountable or accept the horrible actions of his friend. Curly didn't deserve to suffer the hell Jimmy make him experience, but is not like he is a victim in the same level as the rest of the crew in this history, he didn't take responsibility early and end up paying in the worst way possible.
