ATS 1.40 Western Star 49X New Sleeper & Lighting System first full driving experience
Today's drive we'll be taking out our brand new Western Star 49X with it's sleeper cab variant and lift axle chassis. Our drive takes us from Newport to Bend with some logs. This is a vanilla profile with no mods active, so we can enjoy and experience the game the same as everyone else.
The Western Star has had quite a bit of love in the newest update, included some new customisation options too! "The Western Star 49X will also receive an array of new parts to customize your truck including new bumpers, quarter fenders, mud flaps, hood mirrors, sun visors, grille guards, and different interior colors."

If you wish to participate in the open beta, you can find this version in the public_beta branch on Steam. The way to access it is as follows: Steam client → LIBRARY → right-click on American Truck Simulator → Properties → Betas tab → public_beta → Public Beta 1.40. No password required.

It sure was, it took a while to find one in stock. But i'm happy with the purchase, I did have some tracking issues half way through the video so I'm assuming it still needs some tweaking in the settings.

It was a pleasure watching this video, Fox. Thanks for making it. How were the fps? Looked like you were struggling there a bit in the beginning on the forest roads? You say you have no mods installed, however I saw no floating symbols at the petrol stations and the unloading location. Is there an option to switch them off now?

Thank you Johan, I'm pleased that you enjoyed watching the video. The in-game frame rate was fine, the reason for the stuttering is because I forgot to change it from 144hz. Nividia Shadowplay only records at 60FPS, so it sometimes shows stutters in the recording. Yes that's correct, you can disable them with a console command. "g_show_game_elements 0"

first of all I thought it was a great ride and it is indeed better because of the lighting of roads, cars and buildings what I do find a disadvantage about that truck when you are right behind the wheel you see nothing in your left outside mirror this is what I experienced when I started playing the game ,,, for the rest it your good driving experience

Thanks Ronny, I'm glad that you enjoyed the trip! I used to have that issue with this truck, but it's much easier with Track IR. I do believe there was a mod that moved the mirrors closer so you could easily see them. If I can find it, I'll send you the link on Discord.

How does that head tracking work unless you have triple screen set up? I hardly move my head when playing

It takes a little while to get used too, I'm only playing on one single screen. But if you wish to look left/right then you simply move your head towards that side of the monitor. It becomes pretty natural after a while.

If you have the developer console enabled you can use the free cam by pressing 0.

I've never had that issue, make sure that your room is decently lit. I've recently switched to a Track IR5 and I find the tracking to be much smoother and easier. That's what i've been using in my last couple of videos.

It's just the weird stock SCS sounds, I've now put in some sound mods on this driving profile. So the upcoming ATS driving videos should be more enjoyable.
