ATS v1.44 - Open Beta (Active Cruise Control, California Rework, Adjustable Suspension Height)

The adaptive cruise control and emergency braking systems are something I thought they should implement and here it is. Hazard lights on hard on the brakes and maybe an audible warning that warns the player the system is kicking in. I understand it’s WIP but it’s a nice addition to features in the games.

As a trucker, I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT DRIVE WITH THE AIR BAGS DOWN. It's really unsafe, plus the ride on your truck is horrible. Only put the bags down for trailer hookup/dropoff.

Doesn't it raise the airbags back up automatically if you get above a certain speed? I never left mine down in my Peterbilt 579 after dropping a trailer so idk if it does or not.

I have adaptive cruise control on my truck, let me tell you the system had flaws when it first came out! But the emergency braking has saved me a couple times, the bendix wingman is good system, just takes a minute to work out the bugs.

i have it, never use it, hate it... you dont even notice your coming up to traffic cause you drop down in speed so gradually you wont notice it... ugh

I drive a semi IRL and just got upgraded from my 2019 Peterbilt 579 to a 2022 579 and I HATE the ACC. It's so annoying bc if you start getting close it doesn't gradually apply the brakes nut instead SLAMS them on abruptly.

Why is adaptive cruise control and emergency braking a feature in ats but not for ets2 ? Is it like ats is a testing chamber ? Edit: didn't know it was also added for ets2

The braking system on these new trucks are going to be like the ones in real life where if you get too close to a car it's just going to smash on the brakes and make you look like an idiot truckers MP edition

oh good gravy no thank you! I dont even want this on the real trucks I drive that beeping is annoying. I dont need a computer to telll me I am following too close or adjust my speed for me. I dont mind if ATS puts this as an option in the custom section as long as we still have the option to buy trucks without this.

Trust me the bendix wingman has saved me a couple times in real life from people brake checking me when I’m looking in my mirrors to spotting deer in the road when it’s foggy outside. The only time it really beeps is if your too close.

Unfortunately that's not how supposed to work but it can you don't need to drop all four corners just to back under a trailer you only need to drop the rear airbags

Factory part is from truck manufacturer so for example mirrors side skirts etc, aftermarket part is for example Goodyear tires or wheels etc

How do you activate this beta version

you can find this version in the public_beta branch on Steam. The way to access it is as follows: Steam client → LIBRARY → right-click on American Truck Simulator → Properties → Betas tab → public_beta → 1.44. No password required. Somtimes you have to restart your Steam client to see the correct branch name there
