The repairs cost more than a new/replacement units. Like this with flat screen TVs-it would have cost me >$300 for a fix on my 42" set-new was $350.

How about Nissan cvt automatic transmission is it possible to rebuilt
@shootinstraight22996 жыл бұрын
I work for Nissan very easy to rebuild yet very time consuming

Probably still cheaper than replacing considering those things cost over $3000 brand new....

Duuuuuuuude!.............07 maxima se, 167k, bought it at 164k.... Cvt cooler that passes through the radiator failed, and dumped all my cvt fluid into my radiator...stopped driving it as soon as i caught it....anyways,...I drained rad. & Block, (looked like browngreen paint), drained cvt fluid (very little fluid came out...aprox.4qts) ,last part of drain stream had green coolant blobs in it.... replaced thermostat, hoses, eng.coolant temp sensor, soldered the ports on the rad. Shut, installed external cooler & hoses, flushed the rad with hotwater+dishwasher detergent 3 times, flushed the block with water 3×, refilled w fresh coolant.... dropped cvt drain pan to inspect, no rust or visible blobs of coolant., Reinst. Pan, used 5 qts to flush cvt, ran cvt through all gears, drained cvt (no blobs), refilled w 7 qts of new ns-2 fluid.....changed eng oil, filters, cam shaft posi sens.,new sparkplugs,new valve cover gaskets, .......overheating problem....found small leak behind AC comp. , Figured water pump was bad, so I replaced it...while doing so, upon removal of chain tensioner, found broken end piece of chain guide, put it all back together, horrible rattling sound ,and still have overheating.....I'm changing chain guide now, hoping this will be final repair, My question is; 1.) It's already slipped on me while going up a steep hill, but was low on fluid...how many more miles do you think I got on my cvt, given all that's happened.? 2.all solenoids work,fans work, therm. opens, but still overheats.... Is there something that switches the fans on at a certain temp? I know cool.temp.sens. sends signal to ECM.... Is there some other device that could have failed.....once car is hot, it stays hot...

I've heard that in some instances a bad starter Battery(sulphated)can create resistance issues during normal running that plays havoc on the electronics in these cars. In some instances a replacement of starter battery can resolve the issue. If you have been having any issues with starting your vehicle you may well find that a bad starter battery is also creating havoc with your cvt electronics. Hope you solved your problem Nevin and it wasn't to costly.

My 2009 Nissan Murano 3.5L cvt code p0746...solenoid A off...Took it to Lee Myles Transmission..They said they found secret codes other than the obdll system gave me on my $40 scanner ..wanted $2500 for a maybe it will work Rebuild..Took it to Aamco Transmission told me in 2 days it needs a new CVT without any problem solving or diagnosing.

Not a fan of Aamco they ripped me off big time. Used to be they fixed or repaired not hard to say yeah you need a new one. Gee any shop can say that.

same on the highway and 3-4 mpg more in the city(if you drive conservatively)

Unfortunately i'm not sure there is a pro, or a con to rebuilding. You would be better off just not buying a vehicle with a CVT in it.

CVT Transmissions will soon be regarded as the biggest automotive engineering blunder in modern times, only useful in snowmobile.

I have a 2013 Nissan Sentra with 61,000 miles on it in the shop for transmission work right now. Nissan should be forced to reimburse the full amount they purchased for those cars. Nissan CVT's are crap!

Ever change the fluid
@davidminor12544 жыл бұрын
@@sethlittle7338 yeah I did and from what I found out that never even needed to be touched. You idiots from Nissan make a bad product plain and simple. I can't remember what I paid for that fluid exchange. Funny though even before that I brought it in due to w grinding noise which I knew was the transmission but none of the techs could hear it though it was plain as day. A few months later the transmission went out and I am out $4,000. I take very good care of the cars I drive.
@sethlittle73384 жыл бұрын
David Minor no it didn’t “never need to be touched” you have to change the fluid every 30k and 2013 was when they redesign they’re cvt for better gas mileage reliability etc., well the new had issues that started arising a few years later so in 2017 they updated them because of people having issues and now in 2019 they changed them again to be more reliable and smoother and from what I’ve seen the newer ones are way better, every automaker has their bad years, that a first year transmission and it had some flaws that are now fixed, but again it is annoying to be stuck with it going out because it wasn’t tested enough so I’m sorry about that just know that the bad years to watch out for was 2013-2015 them years had the most issues
@davidminor12544 жыл бұрын
@@sethlittle7338 first off the transmission specialist who changed out my transmission was the one who told me that the fluid should never be touched and he has worked on all types of transmissions for almost as long as I have been alive. He put in a rebuilt transmission and I finally got my car back last month on April 1st after having my dead car put onto a flatbed and towed back to where I live to his shop. The people at my local Nissan are total fools. They kept telling me there was nothing wrong with my car when I kept taking it back in repeatedly after I started hearing the strange sounds. The techs are so bad they could not even put on a simple windshield wiper which flew off once while I was driving. And one time I got a "10 year" battery which lasted less than a month and they refused to replace it for free because they said my warranty expired. Like I said I kept up with all of the maintenance that was suggested. I know all manufacturers have had problems and recalls and such but this car has been a total lemon. I have had to work throughout this pandemic. I am in the grocery field of work and I need reliable transportation. Otherwise people cannot stock up on groceries if I am not at work to do my job when I would rather be home and away from this virus. I will never buy another car from Nissan ever again especially at the local dealership where I bought this lemon. I am done discussing this with you.
