What is something surprising that you learned from this video? Let me know in the comments below! And stay tuned for next week, when we dive into the next video in this series, exploring how to heal attachment wounds!

You should make a series about attachment styles and friendship dynamics. Please! In relationships I'm just fine (feeling secure), but when it comes to friendships absolute chaos manifests (I'm a "spice of life"-er).

The growth or awareness happening after the traumatic event (not necessarily healing)

Do you have anything on how you meditate? I just started watching Dr. Joe Dispenza and this is all I've incorporated so far. Thx!

I have always felt a sense of the weight of all my parents and ancestors trauma. I was made to break the pattern and I will not ever give up.

Reading the book Caste while also working on my own attachment injuries and was struck by how profound the injuries must be for people of color in this nation. This video made me feel hopeful that by learning how to “go inward” when I struggle, to be curious and lean into the pain, I can start to reparent myself. And that I no longer need to move blindly through life, directed unconsciously by these nature/nurture wounds.

Briana, I am such a huge fan of yours. I think you are one of the most influential KZbin therapists. You are a genius! Some constructive criticism: I don’t like the format of your new videos ! I know you have to keep up with the times but this hypnotic filter behind you is distracting and you don’t need it. Your old videos that were pure and clear felt genuine and heartfelt. Please don’t change !!!!!!!!!!

Yes I made a similar comment on the previous video. Absolutely love Briana's approach and I feel like the information has given me so much awareness, but the backgrounds have made me stop watching 😢

Thank you for your genuine thoughts and feedback. The backgrounds are no longer moving, but we are going to continue to use virtual backgrounds. Having made the switch our monthly subscribers have increased by 60% so, I realize not everyone’s gonna like the change, but it is here to stay. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’m still going to do live stream events here in there and those will not be as produced. Thank you for your feedback.

@@brianamacwilliam.attachment personally I actually like the new background, I think it's cool you're putting more visual effects in the videos - also you're a creative arts therapist so it fits the theme 😊

@@brianamacwilliam.attachment makes sense to experiment! Maybe just trying a new virtual background that’s got more...organic lines/patterns, perhaps? Not as “graphic”? The color is a great compliment to your hair & skin, but maybe something like an ocean wave/mountain range in that color palette? Totally awesome the subs went up, though!! So excited for you 🤗

Wowa! Listening to the trauma stories triggered a fear response that went into panic and attempts to flee inside my being. I lost track of what my body was doing as I observed internally and dropped something.

Intergenerational traumas are actually 27 'root traumas' and 30 'basal wounds'. I am working with a regression therapist who wrote a book for the last 20 years that describe all of these specific traumas to better onderstand our pasts. I am translating it from dutch to english. If you're interested in this work i can send you one of the translations, we translated 'slavery trauma, arena trauma and dungeon trauma'.

For some reason learning about the DNA does make me feel more hopeless, even though it does help to understand why I'm so "messed up". But I feel like it doesn't help me not personalize my messed-upness... Because I feel like, damn, if even my genes are broken, I *must be* fundamentally flawed 🤔 hmmm

I might offer a reframe: "With this new information, now I have the knowledge of how to take the power back into my own hands, and enter into a relationship with my body where I understand it is gentle and sensitive nature, and its needs for more love and care than it has received thus far. And in choosing to orient myself towards my body with love and compassion for those nuances of its divine expression in this lifetime, I can become my best self advocate, and live an more easeful life."

@@brianamacwilliam.attachment oh that's good! Being more sensitive with my body because by nature/DNA, it is more sensitive than maybe the average person's! That's quite lovely, thanks Briana 😊
