This is my favourite guitar I've ever bought and played. Got it from a friend about 12 years ago for a little over 500 bucks (and he knew what he had) but damn, it's nice to see it went up and it's actually hard to find now. Not like I'm ever gonna probably sell it but still.

I always wanted a Cyclone 2 I have a cyclone one but at that time I was young and didn't have money to spend on the second edition. It's nice to see Squier coming out with it but I'd like to see a normal fender reissue instead of getting a Squier and changing all the parts.

Squiers are quite nice this days... They sort of moved what they used to release on the Mexican plant and moved it to Squier (to up its reputation. Not so long ago (2012) $350 was the entry price of something with the Fender headstock, the Chinese made Modern Player series... They sort of decided they prefer to release the "experimental" and budget friendly stuff as Squier, and keep Fender Mex for the Vintera and Player series. At the same time, Vintera seems like the upgradedd Classic Vibe Equivalent. And some Player series is the step up of the Contemporary (Floyd rose and 22 frets)

Can you flip the switches on the plate so that away from the stings is on rather than off? It would seem less likely they would get bumped on the up stroke.

Just flip the switches not the plate since if you flip the plate the pickups will swap where they are

I have had two of the Cyclone II's and the switch placement drove me mad!!! Awesome sounding and playing though. Currently modding one of my standard Cyclones to the Jaguar pickups (2, neck and bridge) with a stacked tone and volume concentric pot. Putting a rotary pickup selector switch in the current tone pot location. Thanks for bringing out the Cyclone for people to see and hear. They are cool guitars.

my squier mustang pickup switches,i whittled /sanded whatever i did to them so they were a lot shorter. i stopped bumping them once i did that. i think they actually did that on the kurt cobain mustang model they put out some years back (switches are way shorter)

You can stack washers between the switch and the plate to drop the switch down lower so you don't accidentally knock it. You'd need to buy longer screws too. Or like I did on my Jaguar, buy bushings online. I got mine at faction guitar and they came with longer screws.

It's good you just acknowledged the issue with knocking the push-pull switches --- I have one of the Squier reissues allegedly set to arrive today via UPS and can't wait to explore some of the tones. Guitars rule.

I want the Cyclone in shell pink. I have the shell pink Fender Mustang you demoed. The stock pups are thin sounding. I replaced them. I bet the Squier Cyclone will have better pups than that.

I would probably switch the direction of the switches. So you would be hitting them into an on position rather than an off.

Awesome guitar. I've always loved these. I almost bought the new Squier pink one but I ended up getting the super sonic . It just looked better than the cyclone and its cheaper. Plus The switches are cool looking on the cyclone but I have the issue of knocking them off as you mentioned on this. I usually duct tape them.

i know i’m late but if you still have it, they’re going for around $1,100-$1,300 easily in that condition. They’re even more rare now. I have one as well, bought it at my local mom+pop music store for $450 in 2018 in mint condition. I don’t think they knew what they had and i didn’t either at the time… i just liked the sound and look of the guitar so i bought it. Sooooooo glad I did!

That dang switch problem sucks. That's why I recommend the fender duosonic. Problem solved. Other than that switch. It's a nice guitar

Brighter. More Strat tones as well with the middle pickup.

The new Squier is Poplar. If it’s at all like the CV series, which Squier has been producing, it could sound better than this one. We will see.

I know I kinda begged you in that last video about selling me your Cyclone II, lol sorry about that. I ended up finding a Candy Apple Red model which I got for 575 shipped. It's such a wonderful sounding model, I think I like it a little bit more than my Cyclone HS.

@@RobertNolan No, I thought about it but I’m good with my Fender Cyclone. One of the things I love about the Fender Cyclone ii is the Jaguar pickups. The Squire has strat pickups. I dig the colors and I’m sure it’s a great guitar. I’m just good with my Fender. Hope you have a great 2021 Robert.

Strymoon The scale on the Fender Cyclone II is 24-3/4" scale. I’m sure it will be the same on the Squier Cyclone.

The body is Poplar so it has some weight. The weight of this Cyclone ii in the video is 8.70 Lbs. The radius of the neck is 9.5. The scale is 24.75 inches.

On guitars with both a whammy bar and putting the output jack on the front of the body, you should use a right-angle cable. That way, the bar won’t hit against the cable like it does on a straight one.
