Martin and gibson are making much better guitars today. There are so many other choices now days. Two years ago martin was making better gibsons than gibson. Shame on martin for holding out so long. The 16 all mahogany and ceo series are some of the best guitars they have made in years. The street master and street legends are superb instruments. Gibsons are over priced and have changed little if any forever,except for breakthroughs in torrifaction,and every one is doing that now days. For a big price.

@DaleRobertSzyms I would certainly recommend the Squier J Mascis Signature Jazzmaster. It reminded me of a 50’s Jazzmaster. Played great right out of the box. I did a review of it on my channel you can check out. Or the Squier 60’s Jazzmaster I think you would love.

Great to hear from you man. I hope all is well with you in the Uk. I took my family to the UK a couple years ago. We went to Brighton where my great grandmother came from. It was the first time being back to the UK since 1995. London is incredible now. It felt modern and young. I loved it and we will be back. Back in the 90’s I checked out the Bat Cave Club. I was a Robert Smith goth. London felt old back then. So much has changed. What a great city London is. Thanks so much. Cheers! @theguitarmanifesto

The neck on my is fantastic. Love the thing. Not perfect - volume cuts out too much when switching to single coils. Frets do stick out a bit, but overall this thing is great, especially for the price. I picked my red w/rosewood fingerboard up on eBay for $300 over 6 years ago. It is a workhorse, and mine stays in incredibly in tune despite my floating trem bar. I must have done a decent job setting it up (several times). The only mods I made are an American string tree and straploks.

I love the sound of the Hummingbird but prefer the tone of my Martin’s. I have a Style 28 and 000-18GE. I think any comparison is plenty fair you have to compare apples to oranges until you find your golden fruit. I am a 000 fan all the way and my 28 Style is a cannon! The Gibby is warm understated and the Martins I have are clear with that Martin Bass but both have a very sweet top end. Adirondack top on both hog body 000 and Indian rosewood on the D. All that said it would be great to have a Sitka and hog acoustic in the house. Will it be a hummingbird of Martin I don’t know. Have to do a lot of saving before I make that choice but most likely it will be the Martin, my Golden fruit. I sure wouldn’t kick the Hummingbird out on the house though!

Just thinking about buying this beauty...really love the look of the vibrola but I don't want to use it and I'm scared of what would happen if I broke a string..is everything out of tune like with a spring based fender tremolo? Can I do double bends? Is there a method to "fix it"?

I think im going to get one of these the 3rd. It’s crazy im going to get an epiphone instead of a gibson but I’ve seen a bunch of these reviews and it’s just a good guitar at a great price. The vibrolla is supposed to be better than the gibson which obviously has issues. This one can stay in tune.

No your not crazy about Epiphone vs. Gibson. It's changed now with Ceaser the current head honcho at Gibson. Honestly the Epiphone inspired by Gibson guitars are what $1500 Gibsons used to be. The quality is incredible.

Are you using 11s? If not I’d suggest doing that. The jaguar is a shorter scale than average, so needs tighter strings, especially with the trem. Good luck
@MikeFromNashville2 күн бұрын
You are right. For the shorter scale neck 11 gauge is the minimum you would want. I have heard that Leo Fender designed these to have a 11-52 set. I am not 100% certain that is true but I will say 11-52 work great on a Jazzmaster or a Jag if your asking me.

Hello, Thank you for your service. No neck dive on this model. I think the weight of the Maestro Trem adds more weight to balance. Also, if you do have an SG that the neck dives, you can find a larger padded guitar strap. Or, wider guitar strap that should help prevent the neck dives. Thanks for watching. I hope you find what your looking for.
