This game is one of the most appropriate uses of cell shading. It totally nails how they look in the anime. My only complaint is that by "English Version" all they really did was add subtitles. So I can't appreciate the random things the NPC's say and it's really difficult to try and read the mid-game objectives when I'm trying to concentrate on flying around and not getting captured from Titans. Also if you haven't watched the anime or read the manga you might get lost with the story. They really brush past a lot of important information about why certain charters act and feel the way they do. But it makes total sense and nails it if you've read/watch AoT.

The only way to watch Anime is in Japanese, its the original language that was meant and created for the show and cause of that, there's better voice acting in Japanese than the dub. If I was Japanese and I watch, say Batman cartoons, I would watch it in the original language (english) and read the subs, I wouldn't watch it in Japanese as it is weird and doesn't go together. Well it's the same for anime.

I wish the combat in this game was a lot harder. I don't think this should be a casual game what so ever. In the source material characters die left and right and I feel like the game should play out the same way, every encounter with a Titan should be frightening and push the player to his or her limit. Meaning that you shouldn't be in charge of keeping one person alive you should be able to die very easily having to to play as a the squad switching between characters to keep them alive. I also wish there were more combat mechanics.

That might be because you're a dub snob like a lot of anime watchers. If its not Japanese dub it sucks regardless of the talent of the English voice over artist, even if they're Japanese themselves. lol Its kind of ridiculous. But I think the biggest reason it may turn people off (in this instance) is because if you're trying to read what they're saying, and understand the little quips popping up on screen while fighting a hoard of titans, you may find yourself dead because of having to divert your attention so much. Eitherway, got the game for pretty cheap, and its a lot of fun. So... yeah.

The game is fun, and even more fun playing with friend as you can coop and cutting all the arms and legs at the same time, really satisfying.

I'm also a huge fan of the anime/manga and I'm loving the game so far. I completely agree with others waiting for a sale though. Like Jake said it can get repetitive at times, and on pc there are a few bugs that needs to be worked out. When a sale does hit though, the game is great fun and worth picking up at that time.

That is until Japan Animation booms, so much that it influences the western style with its own broad ranges of styles. Westerners used the term 'anime' as a distinction between the styles. Which isn't quite enough with the rise of cartoons very similar to visuals of an anime such as Avatar The Last Airbender and Torkaizer, and the other way around with anime visually similar to a cartoon such as Afro Samurai and Panty and Stocking. So Westerners went "fk dis shit m8" and redefined anime as any animation product from Japan regardless of style and even culture.

Eh, I just bought it off eBay and it arrived in the mail on 2-7-18 or yesterday I only played it for a few minutes but I am so excited, even though I sucked at the subjugating the titan training dummies, that's the thing though at halo I played it and got really good, it just takes time and you can't not play it for a day if you first starting playing it or you'll forget what to do, I read over the tips and tricks section twice, so that should help I remembered the main points on what to do.

I was really hesitant at first, but I asked a few streamers if the game ran as well as it looked, and I got a resounding "yes." So I bought it on release day for ps4 lol. Let me just say this... I can't put the game down. Love it. Being able to raise each characters level, and have your own overall skill level just makes it fun to keep getting better. Upgrading equipment is a huge drive, and the combat skill takes a little getting use to, but once you master it, you feel like you have truly accomplished something. Took just a few hours to get it down. Highly recommend!

There is actually a surprising amount of control. Movement may be tied to your grapnel points, which is determined by your surroundings, but you have full control over which direction that swing is in. Changing direction can be done at any time at the press of a button. I got a handle of the controls very quickly, they are quite intuitive, and nowhere near as hard to master as the tribute games.

Played the game for the PC, and in my opinion, for both gamers and anime fans, I have a mix feelings about it, but more to liking it. Here's why (some may contain spoilers): The frame rates will drop sometimes, making it frustrating to track the titans and dodge it. The control seems to be confusing at first, but after a while, you will get the hang of it. I manage to get multiple S rank result for most of the missions after I change the control settings. I didn't try the Xbox controler (since I lost the adapter), because playing with the controller might be easier for you. The character growth seems a little bit confusing, as the only way for your character to level up is to get a S rank for every mission. (Please correct me if I'm wrong, since it is happen in my case) You will need to craft and fortify your weapon because the titans will get harder eventually, especially the Female Titan. I will say that some of the episode were cut off, but I guess they might focusing on the core story, so for those who haven't watch the anime, you will get confused, since there's more than an action in the series. The gameplay does gets repetitive over the time (anchor, gas, slash, repeat), but I gotta say, I got addicted. There are bunch of different maps with main objectives and side-missions that you need to complete, making it fun and challenging especially if you want to get the Dire Subjugation Mission. If only they put the main theme song as an intro with the current styling, that would be awesome. Overall, it is enjoyable. It will get repetitive, but come on; who doesn't want to be a bad ass Titan killer? Your opinion my differ from mine, and that's cool coz some play it on the console, and some may play it on the PC. It is kinda expensive for casual gamers, but for those who's really into the franchise, definately check this game out.

Never understood why so many where hyped about this game because the look and "feel" (atmospheric feeling from looking at it?) reminds me of old PS2 games but I guess this game really ONLY appeals to hardcore fans of the anime (I personally found it to be mediocre after they skipped through academy time and never picked up the awesome atmosphere from the first few episodes) but even than I can't understand it 'cause (in my humble opinion) the footage I see from this game doesn't even remotely represent the danger of fighting against those giants (health bares? really?).

I wasn't hyped. I've played enough anime based games to know they have sparse budgets. So when a person says, "This looks like a PS2 game." I can recognize how much big budget AAA have influenced the industry. And I recognize that they really don't comprehend how budgeting for a game works. The camera, occasional buggy titans (model is locked in a wall so it jitters, making it harder to target parts), and occasionally buggy controls are indeed the biggest criticism for this game. As someone who almost never gets bored of Dynasty Warriors repetition and enjoyed the AoT anime, this is a gem to take on. It's not DW gameplay, but something about it triggers that same mental enjoyment. $60 is indeed a bit steep for anyone else, but once you see it on sale for $40 or less, I'd say it will fall under a far better price range for most people curious about it. The $60 price is pretty much only to those of us that are good with the repetition.

After completing the main campaign, I'd say the game warrants the price if you are very familiar with dynasty warriors and like the source material. The gameplay is much like a hit workout; fast and punchy, and there is enough B material to keep you occupied for at least 30 hours. If it's not for you, it's not for you, so I'll leave it at that. My only gripe is that the targetting mechanics can be a little bit frustrating when you have to prioritise specific titans, and there are a few occasions when you have to perform stage cullings before taking on side missions to make sure you can kill all the mission specific titans in time before your escort target gets killed. There is also a specific mission where it is impossible to get S rank because not enough titans spawn.

One thing i think its missing is the covert part of the fighting style of the manga characters and maybe the differences of the titans, in the manga when the titan see you they react fast and kill you. and in addition in the manga there are different types of titans and the differences on how they react to people and how they move is different, from slow to fast and to the infamous Abnormal type. If the game emphasizes more on the covertness and how titans react depending on their types, it will solve the repetitive nature of the game.

I've been playing the game for a few days now, and other than the monotony that some times creeps in (which isn't that often since it's fast paced and extremely fun to zip around with the omnidirectional gear,) it felt a little too easy. I never felt really in danger from titans. If you watched the anime or read the manga, you kind of expect titans to be dangerous but I haven't died in the 9 or 10 hours I've played the game. I may be biased, since one of my favorite series is Dark Souls, but I still feel it's a little too easy to get out of situations that would otherwise be dire. But it's still fun and is great if you're a fan.

Eh, great video man, and the Japanese language doesn't bother me, as I have a Japanese ps2, which I play sometimes, I have Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam aeug vs titans, and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed destiny zaft II plus. I can play those effortlessly, this video really breaks down the main points of the game, I commented on another video of actual game play with no one actually talking about it, and this one guy told me that the second game is coming out March 20th, so I could either get this game and brush up on it, or wait until the second one comes out and just learn as I go, I was told the controls for each game are the same, just different each game is based of each season of the anime. Update- I found this game on eBay for $27.97 brand new!! I’m so getting it. Second update- I bought it, I have a xbox one, just have to wait for it to arrive in the mail, so I have a feeling I will have a fun time playing this game. Third and final update- the game arrived yesterday 2-7-2018. I played a little bit of it last night, I put it on normal so it can be a bit challenging, but I could not even subjugate a titan wood dummy, and there is so much to remember I read the tips and tricks section twice. I guess practice makes perfect, right?

Dynasty Warriors is great for the story telling element. I'm a super anime fan and have watched Attack on Titan in addition to reading the manga to the latest chapter. I'm also an avid gamer and have quite frequently played fenglee's attack on Titan which is in fact the best AOT game when it comes to realistic controls and maneuverability. I feel like this new game doesn't use the grappling hooks to their maximum usage as in being able to use each hook individually and together if wanted just as Fenglee designed his version. This new version is far too easy in controls due to this ease of controls, which isn't how AOT should be. In the anime, they train for a long time before being able to even be good enough to go up against one Titan. It took me a few weeks to get good at fenglee's controls and it should be the same with this game.

This game is WAY OVERPRICED. The characters you can play (10) all attack almost the same, except for a couple of them. This is a cash grab targeting people who liked the anime. Omega Force and Koei Tecmo should be ashamed. The ONLY way I'll ever buy a copy of this game, is if they drop it down to $20 or less. And I would STILL be disappointed with it. You missed out that this game is out on Xbox One also, because I own it for Xbox One and runs perfect with no frame dropping, even with over 50 Titans and speeding through the towns and farmlands.. And only £40 in the UK, well worth the money because I haven't even got to 20% Story Completion and had it since Tuesday, but could complete Deus Ex in under 20 hours with 90% of side missions completed.. I loved the anime, and was hopeful for this game, and am not disappointed one bit, looks and feels beautiful

I played the game last night both single player and online.....IT WAS AWESOME!!! It felt like you're playing the first season of AOT. I've never player Dynasty Warriors so I can't compare but I'm a huge fan of the anime and this had me smiling from ear to ear. Especially playing online with friends makes it even better. The only downside is they didn't have the original soundtrack which would've been nice. 9/10

The lowdown: The combat is very simple and repetitive, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun - I still enjoy it. Not every game has to be innovative and require constant strategizing like the Souls games. Sometimes you just want to chill with some friends in co-op and murder giant naked freaks who feast on humans. I would recommend getting it on sale, it's currently $10 off on steam, but most people will probably prefer to wait for a bigger discount. NO RAGRETS! ( Not even one letter :P )

Got this game today for 20$ from my local shop. I'm having a blast with this game & it's def. one of those hidden gems you have to play on PS4. The music is hella epic which means there are so many epic themes in this game it's just awesome. The gameplay itself is awesome too - it's fast paced and simple at the same time, but simple doesn't mean it's boring, quite the opposite. Even if you have never seen the anime you should give this game a try and don't bother too much about reviews. :)

So to summarise for those who have not seen the anime (without spoiling much) humanity was under attack from Titans so the they built 3 walls ( wall maria, rose and sina) to defend themselves they invented ODM gear to attack the Titans as the only place you can hit them without them regenerating is the back of the neck (the nape). Humanity's wall plan was going well until a huge Titan named the colossal Titan kicked a hole in the wall and then an armoured Titan shows up and charges into another wall.

Accurate review! I definitely agree with you! I also agree with knocking off a point for not having the original anime' soundtrack. Honestly part of the whole reason I got into the show was the kick ass sound track; and while the game OST does a decent job of trying to keep the feel, it's still not the same as the original. It tried, but the ost of the anime just sweeps it away. Not to mention, Xenoblade Chronicles X's music sounded more like this game's should have than it did XD!! My Thoughts(After playing for 2 days): 1) If your are not absolutely obsessed with AOT, don't buy this game 2) It is EXTREMELY easy. You will fail SIDE missions more than you actually die, unless you are just shit at games. Well to be honest i was just really surprised on how well portrayed the action was. they really nailed the slaying of titans perfectly. Kinda like how playing Spiderman 2 in the ps2 felt back in the day. I haven't watched the anime, never had the push to get through it, although i do love the action, setting, and concept on how they slay the titans, with the hooks and "jet packs" and then going for the neck slicing them. At 60 euros it is a bit steep but I'll certainly pick it up on a half-price sale when i can.

What you said is on point, the game does not deserve 60$ because 1. It doesn't feel like a AAA title it feels more like a game thats worth 20$ 2. The game is simple it doesn't have tons of skills, tactics or whatever to make it more interesting and fun. The map design could be a lot better except it felt lazy and empty, the atmosphere is not what u feel when watching the anime YOU won't fear any titan, no, instead you'll just run into 5 at once without giving a sht, on top of all that the lip syncing is painfully awful, same goes for face expressions. If you're expecting a lot from this game then don't buy it you'll be disappointed but if you're looking for a simple combat system and you just wanna kill titans then yea this game has that, but I still would not recommend spending 60$ on it, find other trusted website to buy it cheaper from.
