@@Aeronixable "dont really need self-dialogue" is kind of a nonsensical thing. Youre applying rapidly growing modern short-circuited attention span western logic to this all. Its not TikTok or Instagram. If you dont like this kind of format, then watch cinematic movies or western anime. Its that simple. Quite obviously there is a huge audience for this still otherwise it wouldnt be popular and wouldnt work. And even many people who may be consciously complaining about it may not even understand themselves that subconsciously the buildup and payoff just works way better this way. The timing in AoT in this regard is really really well done. This is not dragon ball where the same scream takes 2-3 episodes. Thats a valid complain and the only reason we loved it back then was because 1. we were kids and 2. there was really not much else, it was new and unique and appealed to many fantasies.

At least you have to understand Eren in that situation. Levi told him he can choose whatever he wanted: transform into a titan and fight or trust his comrades and go with the plan. He made his decision and people died. He's friends and comrades died horribly. And now all that's left is pure rage, sadness and hate. He's new in this, he can't control it at all and as Rana said, the Female Titan probably trained so hard to control herself. That's the difference between this two. Btw the reaction was amazing, can't wait until next week! 💜

Anime time is in effect most of the time you guys were complaining! Its a common thing in anime for characters to think up sentences that are actually happening in 1-2 seconds in their minds but dragged out for dramatic and TV effects/experience! Originally these are panels on one page and you read them fast making it feel like the action is happening just as much but yea expect anime to have lots of this.

This arc in particular is so tense because each episode switches between the Scouts or The Female Titan having the upper hand. Between fighting her, her catching up to Eren, the trap, her escape, The Levi Squad seemingly having the advantage, their decimation, the fight. It's this constant back and forth of both sides gaining the upper hand that keeps you on the edge of your seat. This episode was really rough for Eren. He really..lost his head there.

Yeah, it's simply internal thoughts, and like Suraj says, the moments are happening in seconds, time is slowed for the viewer, so that we can hear all of the thoughts. You guys are forgetting that Eren the Prize, that's why they prefer that he escape rather than fight...especially against an opponent who is clearly superior. Also the Female Titans arms where still severed, so she wasn't really running, she was stalling and waiting to regenerate.

But it's necessary. 20 seconds of monologue is 20 seconds that only need a voice actor and minimal amounts of animation. A 20 second fight scene needs also the voice actor (screams etc), but also foley artists (sounds like cracking bones, punches and other sounds) and the biggest part: hours and hours of animation. For a 20 second clip. A whole talk episode is cheaper than a 20 second well-animated complex fight scene.

16:45 Y'all need to remember that Eren is still 14 years old, he's a teenager who is just feeling a lot of anger, at this moment he doesn't know how to channel those emotions and so he thinks that the best he can do is to follow the orders of his superiors, because they do have more experience in dealing with titans. The thing is that this is also the first time that the survey corps is dealing with these new type of titans, more intelligent, agile and stroger, so its obvious they don't know what will work for them. It not as easy as to say "Just hit her already and kill her" or "Levi fucked up by following that order", because its not that simple.

I hope monster is recommended in their patreon. It's an anime where either most people don't know but the people that know it love it. It's about a seriel killer who commits murder without any trace or clue. The protagonist tries to find this killer and how he commits these murders. The show will keep you guessing till the last episode. The anime is chatergorised as a thriller, suspense and horror anime. There are no ghosts. It's just the way the killer kills people is really frightening

That's just internal monologue and something that happens in every anime you'll watch. I know Niki and Pat want to see action, but it IS happening. It's all happening very quickly, time is just slowed down for the viewers so that we know what's going on. Eren wasn't telling the female titan what he was going to do. Eren was THINKING it.

I agree that there’s a lot of still frames of people talking in anime, and I don’t necessarily prefer that in animation. However, I understand that it’s adapted from a manga where there’s a lot of still frames with dialogue. It’s just something that they feel is integral but doesn’t translate to animation very well. If you look at anime without a manga there’s far less of that I think. Like cowboy bebop.

Honest to God I think the Female Titan is the scariest of all the Titans (even the ones that haven't been introduced yet), besides maybe Eren at his most ferocious. The Colossal is of course technically the most deadly, but he's slow and so isn't as scary. The Female Titan is just so devastating in the way she's able to casually swat away and crush these highly skilled fighters with so little effort or apparent care. Of all the Titan fights to come, hers are the most memorable for me.

I love how they just idolize Eren and just bc he is a Titan he can suddenly beat anyone and anything. Like literally every time they were in danger they kept saying "do it do it turn into a Titan" or "ya should have done it and they wouldn't have died". Well Rana didn't so that was nice. But the female Titan was exhausted and basically had her energy spent and was still able to kick Eren's ass lmao. So this scene proves that just bc he is a Titan doesn't mean he is the best thing in the world.
