Just to add a little context to the titan fight: When the fight started, the Female Titan had only one eye, and no arms. She wasn't exactly holding back, her whole fighting strategy was dodging him while staying close, to buy time for the body to regenerate. Whenever her first arm regenerated, she instantly sucker punched his jaw out with a hardened fist, and a few moments after, when her body fully regenerated, she insta-nuked the rest of his head off.

Another thing to add; when Eren transformed and Levi saw the flash of yellow lightning he knew that something had gone wrong and his squad was either dead or unable to protect Eren anymore. Before the trap was sprung Eren made it clear to Levi that he trusted the squad, and had been told only to transform if his life depended on it. As soon as Levi saw the second flash of yellow lightning he knew something had gone terribly terribly wrong for his team. :(

Also, the Female Titan must be pretty fatigued by this point. This is their second transformation, they've been hurt a lot already (First with Erwin's trap and then Levi squad), and they've been running to Eren and fighting the regiment along the way for a long time already.

@Killroy wow, pretty dense one to jump in on but welcome to the party. So there are tropes that you mightn't be aware of, like Sasha getting red eyes and beast mode grabbing the bread from Christa that just means that she's our comic relief hungry character, for example that you will see a lot of in anime (Choji in Naruto does this)... I guess you just learn these things over time. Hope that you are enjoying the ways the art style expresses emotion in the eyes and the original VAs get you on board with the thinking, even when the art style is exaggerated or typical physics go completely out of the window.

If you notice the first part of the fight between eren and the female titan, the female titan was still all slashed from her fight with levi squad and couldnt move her arms yet, hence why eren was "whooping her ass", you can see all the steam coming off her while she was trying to regenerate, as soon as she did she served eren instantly lmao, nice puns btw

Eren's titan was never really "whooping her arse", Ange. Remember that Levi squad had cut up the female titan's shoulder muscles, and she was focusing all her energy on healing just the one eye. So, she couldn't use her arms until they healed, and was fighting with just her legs. They arms were just flailing around when she killed the Levi squad and for the initial fight with Eren. You can see when she's healing the rest of her wounds (second eye, arms, etc.) by the steam emanating from her. That's why she was not moving when Eren was on top of her. She was just biding her time to heal.

THis is a feeling you will have VERY often in later seasons of attack on titan. Theres a way to critisize Anime. Artstyle; Animation; Soundtracks(and the time their used); Character Development, Character Authenticy; Curve of tension, Voice Acting, Storytelling, Face Expressions in animation and circling (foreshadowing and connecting dialogues: attack on titan is one of the very rare anime that has no useless scene or dialogue). Isayama influences the Animation Studios to fullfill all of these qualitypoints. By this Attack on titan lives off sensory overload. Its feels more like a real experience than just an entertaining show. I felt that much, the first time i saw this scene i couldnt belive it i was crying and shocked for like half an hour :'D

When season 4 Part 2 of AoT came to an end last week, I looked for new AoT reactions because I needed a fix for my AoT addiction, and oh boy am I glad I found your channel! You guys are amazing, another fantastic reaction! Between the puns (for me it's a draw between "with great puns come great resPUNsabilities" and "sorry to steal your PUNder"), your genuine reactions (Carlie, seeing you heartbroken upon the deaths of Eld, Petra and Oluo made me feel these emotions all over again), and your analyse of the details and your theory-crafting, all of it is gold. Thank you! Also, I don't think that Levi will be angry at Eren for transforming. First, Levi was genuine when he said to Eren 2 episodes ago "believe in yourself or in trusted comrades, I never knew the answer, it's your choice to make". And second, Petra told Eren that he was allowed to transform if his life was in danger, which was clearly the case here.

In hindsight, there are death flags all over this episode :(. Levi Squad fell apart because they made assumptions based on their experiences fighting regular titans - the amount of time it would've taken her to regenerate her eyes (vs just focusing healing on one eye), and the surprise hardening ability. If they had taken this into account, they probably would have been able to beat her.

Definitely a good time to watch Levi's two OVA episodes, after season one... his mentality of regret and telling Eren that he has a choice is thoroughly fleshed-out. I'm sure everyones pointed this out but the female was focusing on regenerating during the first 3/4 or her fight with Eren. Hence you get that minute of Eren and the female just starting at each other. They both had their arms incapacitated and were waiting for them to heal. The female healed first and the moment she was fully restored she whooped Eren easily.
