Fun Fact: The name "Attack on Titan" is a mistranslation that comes from the Japanese title's English subtitle. It's an easy mistake to make if the person who wrote that subtitle wasn't a native speaker, since the の("no") in 進撃の巨人 ("Shingeki no Kyojin") is actually a particle which (usually) notes ownership of or relation to one noun to another noun. So it very well could have been meant to mean "Attack on Titan" or "Attack of the Titans" or even "The Titan's Attack", but because Japanese is contextual in nature the reader could have assumed any combination of those meanings without a second thought. This is where things get mind blowing. Eren Yeager's titan form is called the attack titan. Would you like to guess how you would say "attack titan" in Japanese? ...that's right. Shingeki no Kyojin. This whole time the title hasn't been meant to represent an attack from the titans on humanity, but instead to represent the one human who discovered the power to fight back. That realization/twist is written so well into the story that it's near impossible to describe. It works because of the ambiguity of the Japanese language, and is therefore specific to it, but I just wanted to let you guys know that this whole time "Attack on Titan" has actually been called "The Attack Titan" which may just be the biggest bit of foreshadowing of them all.

@erenjinchuriki2 жыл бұрын
I think whoever translated it always meant it as Attack-on (adjective) Titan (noun), not “attack of the titans” (as this would be something more like “kyojin no shingeki” instead of the other way around; the particle in front of の owns the particle after it), but failed to find a better way of wording it due to being a japanese person lacking english skills instead of an english speaker lacking japanese skills. I definitely can see how english speakers would think it was a mistranslation of “attack of the titans” though.

I think Attack on Titan has many great messages, mostly delivered as cautionary tales. The consequences of racism, classism, nationalism, imperialism, historical revision, government propaganda, lack of education, political warfare, terrorism, cultism, guilt by association, sins of the father, etc. Even when the story and pacing feel a bit off at times, I think it deals with mature concepts and themes that feel timeless, impactful and relevant. It shows you the many types of forms that hatred and discrimination take, hoping that you won’t repeat the same mistakes that the characters of this world made. You can’t beat hatred and discrimination with more hatred and discrimination.
@coldbattery2 жыл бұрын
kind of disagree with your last statement. war is neccessary to make the opposite party re-consider their actions. And also, if eren didn't take actions, what about all those comrades that were killed by titans? All those years of oppression, discrimination. it's not like everyone is Mandela. attack on titan is not JUST a story about fighting titans, it's about humanity itself. Sure eldians can be the bigger man and sacrifice their lives for world peace just like what king fritz did. And it might seems noble and nice to the world, but who is to suffer for king fritz's decision ? His people. eren is the exact opposite of king fritz, he had enough of these "Noble actions ", and just being unapologetic evil. he doesn't care how the history will portray him in the future. Hell, let's be real here. Hitler didn't become a force of evil if it wasn't all these greedy countries trying to wipe out Germany from the map. And yet people are so afraid to admit they had created the monster themselves.

Honestly as a casual watcher who´s not picking apart every minor detail in the animation n´ shit, I never really noticed anything in the show that made me think "wow that doesn´t look very good". Pretty much the only time I thought to myself that the CG looked weird was Bertholt´s colossal animation during their reveal fight. Also as a music guy the S4 intro is fucking spectacular 10/10.
@killemwifkindness3 жыл бұрын
Agreeing with the s4 op. All the explosions and soldiers marching scene has already heavily implied (to me) that this season is going to be a whole different genre. It did take a bit time for me to start liking the music, but after watching the opening animation along with the lyrics, I know that the op is just as good as its previous ones. There's foreshadowing in the lyrics and scenes, and I just love how they decided to draw the last scene of the op: eren's titan form on the right side of the screen running towards the left side. It's a play on cinematography foreshadowing that whatever the character is doing, it will end up badly(metaphorically or physically). Overall, the op gave off an ominous and dreadful feeling, and that's exactly what we should expect from s4. I can't think of any other way they could make a better op if they want viewers to delve seriously on the issue s4 wants to bring, thus for me, s4 op is as you said, spectacular 10/10.

Then you've got a bad eye. It is not that the animation is bad. Te real truth is that you never apreciatted how good wit studio treated aot and thats why you dont see any difference but after watching some scenes again and comparing you will see that wit studio was a 10 while mappa on aot is 7,the downgrade in s4 is still watchable but the art and animation in fights against titans is not there when it was before. So all it takes is apreciatte the story until 131 animated at least. After that it will lose the storytelling and I hope the animation will carry. Anyways,if the animation is better than before,the next 4 chapters of aot will surpass reiner and bertholdt transformation (122 animated)

Say what you want about the rest of it. I won’t try to defend it. But Eren’s character wasn’t destroyed just because of that outburst. A thing people seem to have forgotten is that Eren was not completely emotionless. For example, he looked sad after he defeated Reiner. He started laughing in despair when Sasha died, just like he did with Hannes. When he looked at Mikasa in the Paths, his eyes softened. He looked torn when he was about to say Mikasa was a slave. Then there was that whole chapter with Ramzi. To understand his outburst you need to look at his perspective. He’s about to die. He’s going to be remembered as a devil for all eternity. He’s never going to see any of his friends again. His outburst was less about being in love with Mikasa and more about him never seeing her or any of his friends again. And even he asks Armin not to tell Mikasa. His goal also didn’t change. He says that he was actually planning on wiping out the whole world, so he could rebuild it the way he wished for it to be. When he says ‘I don’t know why I wanted to do that’, he wasn’t referring to the rumbling, he was referring to the fact that he didn’t know why he’s always been so obsessed with freedom. Eren’s development wasn’t an act. The final chapter is very divisive and rushed, but it did not destroy Eren’s character.

THIS IS LITERALLY GAME OF THRONES ENDING EVEN WORSE THE ENDING DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE!! @@centurymemes1208 Ah this is the best representation of that crying wojak meme (google it or smth)
@jdas43423 жыл бұрын
@@centurymemes1208 1. Yeagerists have the most powerful army at that point, not only has the Rumbling affected the population of the world but also their military power 2. Ymir loving her abuser can be quite believable, she was never sane to begin with as her own people turned against her and tried to kill. Personally, it's crazy to think that it is impossible for Ymir developing Stockholm Syndrome for Karl Fritz. Also, she clearly displayed her love by taking the spear for him. 3. Love story ≠ degraded story. I'll admit it was rushed, but looking back at some chapters it was subtly foreshadowed that Eren and Mikasa loved each other. Especially in the Paths chapters when Eren looked distraught after seeing the his younger self putting on Mikasa's scarf. Or even when Eren confronted Mikasa by asking her what she meant to him in Ch123. 4. For me, Reiner's character arc had already concluded after the Marley arc because he found his resolve. The only closure I thought was needed was seeing if he lived or died. The sniffing part was hilarious and in character so it never bothered me. Reiner even showed this by repeatedly saying he has to marry Historia and was elated when Historia ripped off a part of her skirt. Why now is this seen as out of character? 5. Isn't Historia in Wall Sina whilst everyone else is in Shiganshina? I don't think you remember how long it takes to get from Wall Maria to Sina. Also, Historia is so insignificant at this point as there are larger issues such as the Alliance trying to stop Eren. In fact, the Alliance and the Yeagerists went the opposite direction of Historia as they were going to the port near the ocean. 6. The Colossal/Wall Titans never were humans to begin with. The Founding Titan controls the Colossal/Wall Titans so there was never a need for a human to control them. They are essentially puppets. Why else did they stop working when Zeke got killed? As for Ymir, she relinquished the Power of the Titans because Mikasa killed the one she loves, showing Ymir that Karl Frtiz had exploited her. Therefore, she is no longer needed to build titans in the Coordinate/Paths so she disappeared. This goes for the worm as well which is apart of the Power of the Titans, so that also disappeared. 7. Again, the chapter explicitly states that the Yeagerists overwhlem other Nations' armies therefore it is not as much of a concern. How do we know how militarised other nations were? The Rumbling does not only affect the population of nations but also destroys other nations' military forces. For the 300-600 million people, Isayama never mentioned or implied the population of other countries which makes it feasible for me to believe that Eldia at this current point can win against all other countries. The Alliance are also a symbol of peace as Armin said himself that he killed Eren. I'm not saying everyone would, but some people would deter their hatred towards Eldia as one of their own killed the person responsible for freeing Eldians, Eren Yeager. IMO, that's a more powerful symbol of peace that Eldians want to convey rather than someone from Marley killing Eren, as it shows Eldians knows how abhorrent Eren's actions were. 8. What Eren achieved is freeing his friends and delaying conflict as Eren said other countries "won't be able to wage war". It is naive to think that other countries will not try and go against Eldia, but this time Eldia is not primitive so it has a fighting chance unlike Paradis after the Survey Corps first discovered the ocean and existence of humanity outside the walls. Personally, I liked the concept of the ending. It is by no means perfect, but it does have fantastic ideas such as Eren not being free from his own fate this entire time - this was more revolutionary to me than knowing Eren had future memories at the ceremony with Historia. This chapter could be heavily improved by being fleshed out more with additional pages going into more depth especially in Ymir's actions. If it was more fleshed out with additional pages, we would probably see less people having misconceptions of the ending which I don't blame them for having.
