How crazy is it that the guy Sasha saved when Bert kicked in the wall the second time is the guy that Connie had to Ultimately take out? Also, Daz surviving this long since S1 is a feat in it's own. I've always found Floch and Armin to represent different aspects of Erwin that they took from him. Armin is the sacrificial idea guy(and he's been shown willing to lay down his life for a plan numerous times). Whereas Floch is the, "By any means neccessary, no matter how many lives are lost for the sake of the mission" side of Erwin. The side that will do anything for the light at the end of the tunnel. They both took after different parts of him. And are both successors of him in a way.

To address the confusion in the early part of the discussion, Floch was immediately suspicious of everyone the moment Jean “missed” and the cart took away Jean, Onyakapon, and Yelena. He said to himself “where is Mikasa” because he knows that if the cart was actually attacking, Mikasa would definitely be chasing her instinctively. So when he realizes that Mikasa is not present, Jean “missed” four shots at point blank, and key players are being taken away by the cart, it would make sense that Floch would be the one to tell all of the Yeagerists that he’s suspicious of the missing people, aka Armin, Jean, Conny, Mikasa, and the Marleyans. The alliance spent a whole night working out their differences and Floch certainly used that to his advantage. I hate his morals but he’s smart AF and paranoid because deep down he’s a coward, which is super beneficial in this circumstance

I actually don't think that Annie was coming from a high place. She is just a very direct person and she understood that the scouts don't want to kill, so she needs a option and she knows that if there is a plan to not kill anyone, it will come from Armin, someone she sees in a good light since the beginning of the series. (But she also stll hurt by Armin trapping her, because she fall into that trap in the Female Titan Arc because she wanted to be seen as good person for him, she wanted to be treated as human). and that's why for her is so easy to say that they wouldn't break the walls like her and Reiner... because Annie doesn't see herself in the same way she sees the scouts. She is a very empatheic person but the trauma of being a Warrior + more childhood made her develop a cold mechanism of defense. A lot of people ask why Annie forgave her father so easily... I feel it's because he was the first person who could break into her desumanization complex. Berthold tried and failed.. Armin didn't tried but he did without intention...

I think a lot of people also miss that the alliance members to take Eren down all lived amongst people outside the wall where the Yeagerist did not. The”traitors” saw that while it wasn’t perfect genociding the world was not the answer. Before people say Floch was right look at what happened to the island. I harken back to what Kiyomi said this episode and what Erwin said to Pyxis about humanity always having conflict until their numbers are 1 or fewer. We don’t even know the reason the island found itself in war times 1000+ years later and even if it didn’t civil war would break out and we see that through Floch immediately putting the gun to people who don’t agree

those guys are faceless unknown characters save for floch, daz, samuel, and some others. annie and reiner are established characters that we've known for the past four seasons. everyone was also cheering on levi when he killed all those humans back in S3. it isn't really surprising for people to cheer for the main characters.
@loso6002 жыл бұрын
@@huhjanus no one said it was surprising. i said it was interesting. by this logic though, people would cheer on the death of all the faceless characters to come... also, while established characters, annie and reiner were established villains for seasons based on the POV the story was told for seasons. so, cheering when they kill others, particularly others they all likely trained alongside is an interesting choice. At the same time, it's also the point of the story. To highlight all the grey and moral ambiguity of humans, their choices and their nature. Again, not surprising. Just interesting.

This episode's discussion was definitely one of my favourites. Sitting down together and listing wishes for the ending n stuff. Also unfornately I feel Sam on the whole "Can't remember a show which's ending I liked" thing. There are definitely a couple, but the vast majority of shows I watched ended with terrible disappointment.

Sasha saved Samuel (EP4) and Ymir and Krista saved Daz in previous episodes (EP30) Connie now murders both of them. One of the most striking aspects of Connie's character is his tiredness and dissatisfaction with his friends' betrayal. However, take a look at how things have changed. Another reason it flashed back to Bert was because They deceived and murdered their buddies because they thought it was perfectly justified and that they were "saving the world." Sasha had taken meat from the cupboard in a flashback from season one, which was shown in the manga. Eren and Connie were in the background, while Samuel was in the foreground. Unfortunately, it was not shown in this episode. It would have added to the brutality of the scenario.
@crystalhollins90802 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad you mentioned that! And I also agree that it would’ve been better if Mappa included the flashback that was in that scene from the manga because it would’ve made things clearer. In EP 4 when Sasha brings up retaking more land & sharing her food it can be seen that samuel was good friends w Connie and her. It’s was very subtle but I think adding that flashback would help understand why Connie had a hard time initially killing him.

Daz literally had a gun to Armins head, and with his skittish personality would have for sure pulled the trigger and killed him. Connie choose to save Armin. Sure I guess ethically Samuel didn't "need" to die, but he is still siding with a group that is all about destroying the whole world. They are in the middle of a intense fight with high emotions, even if he tried to knock him out or tie him up at that point it would still be a gamble that Samuel wouldn't wake up or escape and try and detonate the plane. Connie did what he thought was right in that moment, and I think the anime portrayed it so much better than the manga.

It's hard to say whether all yeagerist feel like genocide is the right thing to do. Had the military government under Zachary not failed to come up with a reasonable plan, I'm sure a lot of people would have followed a more righteous decision. However, the military had no plan and the few moves they made they kept to themselves which led to the people once again distrusting the government. We only have seen like, what, 20 soldiers on the roof with Floch who were hardcore two episodes ago. I'm sure many of the yeagerists are still in it to protect their people, their families and loved ones. The yeagerists are by no means right but the military, including Hange really failed the people, the very same people she guided through the Uprising arc and that's sad. In the end, the group of people whose hands are clean becomes smaller and smaller.

I think that situation with the old military government also shows well how hard it is to deal with complex matters publicly. It's undeniable that the situation as a whole is very nuanced and there's no way to 100% solve the issue, but it's really hard to communicate that to the average man who just wants to feed their family and not get killed by external forces. That's why I believe the issue with Zachary's government wasn't the lack of acting, but the lack of communicating (something the show even highlights with how Hange was distrusted by the press). They wanted to solve the situation but making a choice when no choice comes without pros and cons and while feeling the pressure of the people just makes everything worse. And just like a lot of things in AoT, it's easy to see this kind of thing happening in our world too.

FR! Her in S1 already had developments, just like when she covered up Levi and regret her actions. Especially in S3, she have so many developments that WIT studio cut. I bet people would be shock if they figured out that Mikasa is actually one of the reasons why Connie, Jean and Sasha were still in Levi's squad. The fact that they've changed a lot of Armin x Eren, Armin x Mikasa, Levi x Mikasa's moments still haunts me. We could've more Ackermans moments where it shows the Ackermans duo and how they work so well in fight scenes. + They've also made Mikasa less skilled, lol. S3, the arrow where Sasha targeted the man's hand, S1 where Annie never put Mikasa to sleep on the ground, and such.
