They were trying to dispel any remaining animosity and prevent everyone from going to war so soon after the Rumbling. I mean, you want to talk even more realistic? Realistically, no one should have any capabilities to go to large-scale war for at least 100 years after a cataclysmic event like the Rumbling. The only ones capable would be the Eldians on Paradis because they were the only ones who didn't lose like 85% of their population. Statistically speaking, there were definitely some nations that 100% got wiped off the face of the earth.
