It sounds as if this is the ending of a great fairy tale, like in a thousand years, people have forgotten the history and it all becomes a bedtime story about monsters that parents tell their kids at night. Which figures since the origins of most of our irl fairy tales were pretty gruesome and ugly, but it's all okay since, in your parent's version, there's a happy ending, and the kids go to sleep safe at night...never having to feel the fear of being trampled by Titans.

Eren is full of determination to commit genocide. He is fully aware that what he is doing is cruel and heartless but that is what he believe that is the right thing to do to save his people. That is what he believe. But he also knows that not many people will agree with him. And he also believe that Armin will always do the right thing to save the world and that is to kill him. He accept it, and declare himself as the enemy of the world. He also knows that the only one who can kill him is Mikasa, Armin and the gang. And maybe he is also secretly begging them to kill him. Because he knows that he can't live and accept the kind of world the others wants to live in. Because he can't let go of his past. And to me, that is Eren's biggest tragedy. Because of this, he can't live in the future.

Linked Horizon's first song for AoT was Guren no Yumiya. The official album they made for the series 1st season starts with Armin's VA telling on the first chapter phrase, when you see the colossal appear (humanity being scared, how they were trapped inside a cage, etc). Now, they got to make the last opening for the series, and as you finish it, you can hear Armin ending the story telling. Not only is Linked Horizon so special bc they were on aot since the start, but because they make these things. I wouldn't have thought that they were gonna close the last song with the end of the story in Armin's pov, wich started long ago on their first album (2016 if I'm not wrong) Absolute masterminds. They knew what they were gonna do. Linked Horizon repertory of songs for this series is literally how Armin tells the tale to the people on the future :)

@@OnMyLunchBreak07 bullshit, eren's flaming titan was a convenient plot hole, hell, eren literally running across town to punch annie who just stood there is a plot hole too. in the manga, eren transformed right under annie to punch her. same goes for how they changed the ending of season 1 regarding the wall titans, then pretended it never happened in season 2. then there's how season 3's plot points were rearranged which also caused plot holes too. authors will never mention correct these plot holes that I bring up because 1) it makes them look like an asshole 2) its technically not a big deal, doesn't affect the plot HUGELY. But regardless, the fact that these obvious plot holes exists is proof that "author's involvement" doesn't instantly make the story the definitive version the author wanted.

Eren was burried and the tree started growing in size way after anyone we knew died. Why, when, and how did the hallucigenia end up under the tree is anyone's guess. Only Isayama knows.
