Attack On Titan : Shingeki no Kyojin's Horrifying Symbolism.

Finally i was able to finished remaking this video, entering the new year was a hassle, i had to finish work and make time for this one because Shingeki no Kyojin has a very special place in my mind and heart. thank you to all the new subscribers! if anyone is wondering what in the world is "Akatsuki no Requiem" its a music video by Linked Horizon that foreshadowed the true dark ending of AOT/SNK, I hope one day we will be able to see the original envisioned ending of AOT. Isayama sensei admitted that he changed the ending of his manga, the various artist that contributed to the songs of attack on titan are still on a N-D-A about the true meaning of their songs, I hope if the rumors are true, a final true ending will be revealed.

What's scary and interesting at the same time is everything we saw in this anime is a perfect reflection of our world. And you don't need to look into the past to notice this as it's happening even today in our society. Great Video ! Its only half about that entire symbolism. You could have talked about the parallels to ww2 and the circle of hatred and that it is all about perspectives more intensive.

It was the historical context and footages that makes it hard to portray the WW2 parallels. I needed to maintain that historical documentary narration while telling it in a dark fairytale atmosphere. I had to watch the movie " Pan's labyrinth" by guillermo del toro for inspiration. I know there is still a lot more to tell specially on the german side. I highly recommend you to check out the game of thrones books and ASOIAF universe books...they're GOLD when it comes to symbolism, history and mythology it's a vine that never stops giving. It's like the author telling you the most ancient leyends of this world but in his own fantasy universe and in his unique style, very layered. Im very sorry about the voice, i know that having your true voice audio for the video creates that emotional resonance, its just that i am currently building a quiet room for the voice overs, it sounds terrible when you can hear cats , dogs and vehicle noises in the background and Im also working on my diction because i have a very heavy accent. I will one day use my voice but for now i have to work with what i have thank you for giving this video a chance.

I don't think Isayama ever said that the ending we have isn't what he intended, those were all bad translations, he did have some options he was thinking along the way when there was still a lot to draw, but closer to the end he decided on the ending we have. We won't have another ending.

I know it's a very weak argument and a low chance of ever happening but you know what they say "Don't deal in absolutes", i have seen SNK 3 times now, the whole series. There is something really foreshadowed about the ending, i have seen all the music videos for attack on titan, it is even creepier when you watch it. Because it points something about mikasa dying. Akuma no ko's Ai higuchi is still on an NDA, she can't talk about the meaning of her song. For me there is nothing wrong in entertaining an idea. Tasogare no rakuen's lyrics truly made me speculate of another ending, maybe there is still something more or i am dead wrong.

I just have a problem with spreading the info about what Isayama said or whatnot, that is sometimes problematic because people take at face value. Watching this i realized something. I don't know if this is what isayama was intending but Korea and other asian countries have problems with Japan because they don't seem to take the war crimes of ww2 very seriously. Germany bans all n@zi shit and really teaches their kids about ww2 and is just really strict in general. Japan isn't evil at all, but they kinda gloss over it in their curriculum. They've forgotten completely about the things that their country did. Meanwhile, they've banned the film Oppenheimer, even though that film shows Oppenheimer's guilt and scenes representing the horror of what the bombs can do. In the same way, the eldians completely forget about what they did to start the conflict, but they are really focused on the new titans that have appeared (one, the colossal, appears in an almost nuclear blast). If the eldians hadn't erased their memories, maybe they would have had a better chance at diplomacy and future peace.

From what i know, one of the reasons why WW2 history in japan was toned down was because of the unspeakable atrocities commited by the imperial military. How are you going to tell future generations of that dark period..? I have seen german teenagers shut-down everytime the name of the fuhrer gets mentioned. It's like a blank-panic. have you ever seen that look, were you mention something and look at other people with the facial expression "where-are-you-going-with-this..?"

There's def tension in the room when you mention racism and slavery and the genocide of the native Americans. It's not a perfect comparison, but even if it makes ppl uncomfortable, it still needs to be talked about. Though don't blame people for something their country did in the past. I did hear about this thing with Japan from a Korean, and it could be possible that Korea has its own biases, and maybe Japan is doing good teaching history. I guess idk the situation very well, but I thought I'd throw the parallels out there because finding schizo parallels between anime and irl is fun

I wish i did'nt had to but I was't gifted with a golden voice, I sound like a background character for a low budget anime. The idea was to create that history channel type documentary for the video, while keeping the atmosphere of telling a dark fairytale. I did a lot of tweeking the voice and choosing the right background music to avoid making it sound bland. Sometimes being resourceful to achieve a goal goes a long way. Real world symbolism was the idea, I did find several references to the occult traditions specially the judeo-christian, it was just way too deep for me to tackle.
