I think AOT is the perfect analogy for a religion. Some vague idea of some evil in the past where no one can actually even remember how it started which spread and survived through the massacre of opposing sides and ideologies. The people who inherited this power believe they are the chosen people while those who seek freedom from their oppression believe them to be Demons. It shows that in the end, the GODlike power they possess is neither evil or rhitehouse, its simply man doing as man does, continuing to struggle against time and attempting to grab hold of whatever permanence they can through the use of force. Later its shown that even the power of the titans will soon be surpassed, you can interpret that as man's desire for evil overcomes even the power of the Gods or you can see it as representing that nature and technology is no different than any kind of ancient evil entity. Its all part of the cycle. As Zeke puts it, we only fear death as a mechanism to keep life existing. To continue to reproduce. But is it really so bad to die? Everyone will die anyway so why is it "evil" to cut to the chase? As everything gets washed away into the sands of time all we do is fight for our own entertainment. We struggle against the inevitable. We bring peace only to feed it to the inevitable horrors of war and violence. Even when the founder decided to commit to stopping war, the human desire is to break down those walls protecting us as we see them as cages. In reality we WANT to fight. We WANT the freedom to go to war, the freedom to oppress others and by extension, be oppressed. This is the philosophy of the Attack Titan, you could also say that is the philosophy of the Devil. Better to have moments of peace within the breaks of battle than to be eternally lorded over by some other entity which possesses true freedom, in reality the only one that is free is the one with the most power, and that power belongs to no one. Whoever weilds it at the time decides the peace and the war. After all, we can dream of playing catch in the clouds for all eternity, but that's not what life wants. What makes those moments special is that they are few and far between. If we were to live under the oppression of Heaven for all eternity, eventually we would desire something more, something real. Something visceral. We wish to experience everything possible. Love, hate, friendship, lust, envy, hate, pride. All things which can only be brought by true freedom and not the artificial peace created by the King's walls

However, in the Sibylline Oracles, Araqiel is referred to not as a fallen angel, or Watcher, but as one of the 5 angels who lead the souls of men to judgement, the other 4 being Ramiel, Uriel, Samiel, and Azazel. Armaros (also Amaros) in Enoch I taught men the resolving of enchantments. Azazel[6] taught men to make knives, swords, shields, and how to devise gemology, ornaments and cosmetics. Gadriel taught the art of warfare. Baraqel (Baraqiel) taught men astrology[7] Bezaliel mentioned in Enoch I, left out of most translations because of damaged manuscripts and problematic transmission of the text. Chazaqiel (sometimes Ezeqeel) taught men the signs of the clouds (meteorology).[5] Kokabiel (also Kakabel, Kochbiel, Kokbiel, Kabaiel, and Kochab),[8] is a high-ranking, holy angel but, in general apocryphal lore and also in Enoch I, he is a fallen Watcher, resident of nether realms, and commands 365,000 surrogate spirits to do his bidding. Among other duties, he instructs his fellows in astrology. Penemue[9] "taught mankind the art of writing with ink and paper," and taught "the children of men the bitter and the sweet and the secrets of wisdom." Sariel (also Suriel) taught mankind about the courses of the moon (at one time regarded as forbidden knowledge).[ 10] Samyaza (also Shemyazaz, Shamazya, Semiaza, Shemhazi, Semyaza and Amezyarak) is one of the leaders who made the oath to bind each other together he taught the enchantment of roots and herbs.[11] Shamsiel, once a guardian of Eden,[12] served as one of the 2 chief aides to the archangel Uriel (the other aide being Hasdiel) when Uriel bore his standard into battle, and is the head of 365 legions of angels and also crowns prayers, accompanying them to the 5th heaven. @@nocolour As much as your video was insightful, I would like to provide Correction for the newcomer: Whilst cultural influences on Contemporary Christianity as we see it can be observed from documents like the non canonical Book of Enoch; in ancient days, Jews and Christians would see any Pagan Influence as Heresy, thus giving them no motivation to invent what they professed to believe. Say what you will about traditional depictions of Satan as the years passed by, but these caricatures would not have been as frequent in ancient days. It is a common objection to suggest that Christianity arose from pagan gods but the Jewish Writers would never have gone through with that if that was the case. It was blasphemy at that time for a Man to claim to be God. If the Jewish Writers had pagan influences for Christianity, people like Saul of Tarsus, Josephus and Tacitus would have pointed this out. In fact, if Christianity as a whole was fake from the start, Tacitus would have pointed that out because he hated Christianity. There is another objection suggesting that the source of Judaism can be traced back to Canaanite Polytheism. This is highly unlikely since such a sexually barbaric nation would require a radical transformation for that to occur and if it did, it would only affect a select small number. Not to mention, circumcision would be a big NONO for much of the sexually hyperactive nation of Canaanites at that time. Judaism would have had to establish an entire race of people with their own language in a few centuries. By all means point out comparisons, but please study carefully before you make your points. Thank you for your video. I look forward to seeing more from you. Welcome to KZbin.

@@nocolour Your correct in saying Satan's Pitchfork was influenced by Paganism but the Biblical Satan never actually had a pitchfork. The Devil isn't a name and it's Greek for slanderer. In fact, the Devil is given many descriptions but not even satan is a name. The depiction of a horned, red, cartoonishly evil, trident holding man as Satan is not Biblically accurate. In fact, the Bible says Satan disguises himself an an Angel of Light.

I've always thought that Eren and Jesus had some parallels. Both have supernatural powers Both are destined to die for the sake of peace and freedom, not knowing when until they were shown or told through supernatural means Next one might be a stretch but both also had followers that were devoted to them. Jesus' closest followers stood with him until the end except one (Judas) Eren's closest followers eventually "betrayed" him except one (Floch) Jesus sacrificed himself for the rest of mankind, dooming his apostles to violent deaths and suffering, of which they gladly embraced instead of running away from mind you Eren presumably destroyed most of the world, but he sacrificed the freedom that he wanted so dearly and gave it to his friends, who most likely lived long and peaceful lives

@@nocolour it took inspiration from the Bible yes but, is it straight no. Greek,Norse, and Roman are all philosophy saying that the Bible take inspiration from them says a lot. Attack on titans just takes events from the Bible in copies them but the meaning becomes a empty shell even eren tries to go out like Christ which further proves my point. You’re not wrong they tried to copy the events but the meaning is very lackluster compared to the Bible also many other animes pull this exact same stunt. Also lost paradise has nothing to do with the Bible. The book of Enoch rarely has anything to do with the Bible there’s some truth but 99% of it has nothing to do with Christianity. The main point is that the anime take inspiration from many things but saying it’s straight from the Bible is a big lie. Just dislike when people use the Bible to make something look deeper than what is AOT is just like Neon evengilion they both took inspiration from events but not the meaning nor the actual real heart of it, they took visual and Adam and Eve than people like be like straight from the Bible.
