Having read the manga, and listened to these scores its come to my attention just how similar reiner and eren are. Even from the beginning, despite Reiner putting on this act as a noble and strong headed soldier for paradise, his facade eventually cracked and his true colours showed. He was simply a young boy cursed with a unrelenting will to advance. Similar to our own Eren jeager. The fact that youseebiggirl and vogel im kafig are so similar and yet are used for both Eren and Reiner with the exact same lyrics and all, shows just how much these two are tied together. These two were destined to be tied down to one another. They both committed horrendous crimes at a young age, displaying their dangerous will to us first hand. They both committed a terrorist attack against the others nation, killing thousands. They both have a deep love for their people and fight for their sake. And most importantly, they both witnessed a death of a dear one infront of them that pushed them towards their goals. Reiner witnessed Marcel die infront of him and continued to pursue the mission even after bert and annie wanted to go back home. While Eren’s mothers death pushed him to eliminate the titans. *Unlike others, they pushed themselves into hell! they’re shonen protagonists stuck in a messed up world* Its as Eren put it. *Dont you get it? Reiner, you and i are the same.* *I think, we were born this way... I just keep moving forward* - a lesson that he learned from Reiner himself before it takes a dark turn *until my enemies are destroyed.* Just as Reiner is cursed to keep moving forward, both cant rest until their enemies are eliminated. Two sides of the same coin.

Actually, according to the manga, well season four, Eren meant that towards everybody outside the walls. But the true enemy was the Marlyians. Holding a grudge that happened 2000 years ago by playing the victim and bringing the same incident to the Eldians but three times worse. They're claiming the Eldians summoned the Titans yet the Marlyians were doing the exact same thing. Also saying that their lives are nothing but a living hell when they're living in luxurious homes, nice clothes, plenty of food to eat when the Eldians were practically living in poverty with low on livestock. All the while the Eldians weren't fighting against them until it was too much when the Marlyians wouldn't stop causing the war

I'm so excited to see reiner again. Despite what you think of him, murderer,victim, or traitor. You gotta give his character credit. Everyone's big brother as eren said, loved and respected among his fellow soldiers, was the infamous armored titan that breached the wall. What I love about reiner is how he interacted with everyone but that was also his mistake. Like now I understand why bertholdt and annie distanced themselves from everyone else to avoid growing bonds with them because at some point they'll strike and it'll be easier without being weighed down by their feelings But reiner? That's all about offense and is better suited for hand to hand combat and is more agile and has gotten training from annie who is a master martial artist and has got hardening now and Is the main protagonist of the show and has got the warhammer titan now. Reiner got the armored titan, a titan that's all about defense that is bulkier and slower because of the armor restricting his movements BUT is jacked as hell and has got punches powerful enough to split the ground open. Their first fight the armored titan looked like the freaking hulk. Eren punches him and destroys his hands but when reiner punches him it destroys half his head and sends him flying sky high, it's like saying" you can't hurt him but he can sure as hell can hurt you" So of course isayama would have to make reiner a bad fighter, slower and have freaking mental issues while giving eren power ups while reiner is being weakened from mental issues and is suicidal. Let's say if there was no logic at all. What would have happened if isayama had not restricted reiner with mental issues and made him faster and a master fighter like annie when he's got all that power behind his punches and insane amount of strength? How'd you think it'd turn out?

I rewatched this series again recently and its amazing how many parallels I've noticed between Eren and Armin to Reiner and Bertolt. Eren and Reiner both had dreams of freedom and obtaining better lives for their loved ones whilst blaming the wrong enemy for their situations because it was forced upon them and befriended the people of the places they'd infiltrated and came to love them. Bertolt was the same but he and Eren, unlike Reiner, accepted the cruelty of their situations and committed themselves to their missions regardless of how many loved ones they needed to kill or close comrades they lost whereas Reiner couldn't handle the emotional trauma without being pushed along by Bertolt. In many ways Eren was Reiner but became Bertolt which is ironic since he was closer with Reiner and killing Bertolt was the driving force of Eren's life yet now Eren's more understanding and sympathizes with Reiner but has become as ruthless as Bertolt was and just like Bertolt became the "enemy of humanity" within the Walls, Eren's become the enemy of humanity to the world itself. Also adds depth to Reiner's depression since his desire to be a hero turned two of his closest friends into the biggest enemies of the conflict between their people. Armin is kind yet timid like Bertolt was and followed his best friend into hell itself but had little to offer the military and often fell behind like Reiner and it was only through trauma that both discovered their inner strengths for the sake of their loved ones survival. In that regard Armin went from being Bertolt to Reiner as he's gradually become more ruthless and cunning but his actions have traumatized him heavily over the course of the story just like Reiner's trauma gave him split-personality yet, unlike Bertolt, simply hasn't been able to fully accept the cruelty of their situation. Also Armin and Reiner's transformation into Titans wasn't based on skill but the emotional influences of those around them. Armin became the Colossal Titan because Levi wanted Erwin to finally rest and Marcel ensured Reiner became the Armored Titan so Proco wouldn't and both choices had unforeseen consequences. There is also some noteworthy comparisons between these 4 to Mikasa and Annie who, unlike them, are basically polar opposites. Annie being angry and always wondering off to pursue her own goal is much like to Eren's current outlook yet he's acting out of love for his friends whereas Annie hatred Reiner and didn't seem to return Bertolt's affection, and Bertolt shares Mikasa's cruel perception of the world and both are also quiet and withdrawn yet loyal to their friends.

Even without the Titan part of this story its still one of the best stories ever. It is crazy how they covered every part of the society from the lowest person upto the kings. And also how it portrayed human behavior according to what they think is truth, how they get controlled, manipulated. its insane. This is why AOT will be the best Anime ever. its not some basic story with just 1 goal of killing the main villain with some superpower and kill some mini bosses along the way. There is far more to this.
