"Allow It." This is such an underrated movie. Found this in High School and recommended it to everyone. I think they're currently working on the sequel.

The writer of this movie was actually mugged by some teens ... his response was to try to understand what circumstances led them to that action .. and so he wrote this!

Still one of my favourite films. I heard Nick Frost wrote this film because he had been robbed but instead of villainizing the youth he wanted to show a deeper side to the hood.

Not Nick Frost, but Joe Cornish... he of The Adam and Joe Show, if you're old enough to rmember that. This was his first film and the stoner guy who goes to meet Nick Frost is sort of his self-insert character.

Jor cornish the director based the ages of the characters on the ages of kids that were dying in london due to knife crime. The messaging in this movie is deep.

I remember my secondary school days when one of John’s good friends and business(?) partner visited my school’s drama class to promote their acting group. I remember getting a flier that featured JB and some other young actors. His face always stood out to me and I forced my scaredy cat self to go and watch this film to support him when it came out. Good times

Good storytelling will bring up social commentary in a way that isn't preachy or condescending. So, even though this is what ya'll call a "B" movie it wouldn't be the underrated movie that it is. I think it's a fun movie with endearing characters. Unfortunately, we still get the black kids getting killed off but it's horror so there's that trope alive and well. I don't consider this a "B" movie because it's one of the few movies at that time that was focused on life in the projects with a genre spin. It was super ahead of its time.

I told my daughter if John Boyega gets noticed, he could be a star. I was intrigued by Jodie. I went home and searched for her on the internet and only found one show she was in, something boring about police surveillance. I was thrilled when she showed up in Broadchurch two years later.

Even in the UK this film went under the radar. But then again, thats the case with most british films. We have no money to make big blockbusters. Yet this film, makes a good horror, with a really decent monster. Which is way above UK's abilities when it comes to films. This film gave a positive representation of the London hoodrat.. The kids of the block can be your heroes too and save the day. Any film that represents working class Brits, esp in London, then Im cheerleading it. If you want to see the real magic of Simon Pegg, then you need to watch the TV show that start it all. "Spaced" (you better be well versed in films and computer games ;) )

John Boyega was actually 18 when he made Attack the Block, it was released to festivals just a week before his 19th birthday and released to cinemas in the UK two months later. - Alex Esmail who played Pest was 17. Franz Drameh who played Dennis had turned 18 in January so may have still been 17 whilst shooting. Jodie Whittaker was 28. Luke Treadaway who played the posh stoner was 26. All five of them were playing characters 2-3 years younger than they actually were - Jodie says she's just graduated making her mid 20s not late 20s. Luke is still getting an allowance from his dad making him early 20s at most. Pest is likely supposed to be still 14 if Moses is only 15. Dennis may be 16 given the moped and job but could be riding illegally and have lied about his age to get the job.

When you see how good John Boyega was in this film , makes me angry how dirty Lucas film did him in the new Star Wars trilogy. When read that in the original script for The Force Awakens, Finn was the lead character, who became a force using Jedi and clear love interest for Rey. They cast Boyega and completely rewrote the character on set to be not a force user, weaker and less brave and Star Wars writer admitted he was told by Lucas Film executive to get rid the if romance storyline between Rey and Finn as they didn’t was interracial relationships between a black character and white female character. The same studio executives had no problem with Woody Harleson and Thandi Newton being in an interracial romance in the Solo movie. Hollywood plantation mentality in full effect.
