The Brussels Gambit is a variation in the Sicilian Defense and begins with the moves: 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 f5. Black gives up the f-pawn with little in exchange. This video will focus on how white should attack the Brussels Gambit.

The only rational reason that I can think of for this gambit is that the player with the black pieces suddenly remembered on move two that he was supposed to play a gambit and this was all they could think of in the moment.

I agree with your reasoning. I really tried to find some creative ways where black could do well with the opening but I couldn't.

Have you already made a video on the Orang-Utan opening (b2-b4)?

I have not. I've done one on Larsen's Opening b2-b3 but have not done b2-b4 yet. Happy to add it to my list of videos to make if you'd like.

One look at this Gambit & I can tell I will never play it. F5 on move 2? Lol suicidal 🤦‍♂️

Yeah I personally wouldn’t play f5 but I’ve had it played against me and always good to know how to respond if you see it.

I didn't know this was an opening. I played c5 and then realized I didnt actually want to play another sicilian. So gambit! "Uhhh... F5!?" My opponent was spending a lot of extra time on his moves. I made him as confused as I was and won

One opening that is similar in nature to a gambit is the Grand Prix Attack. I have a video on my website covering this opening.
