The reason protesters are waving the American flag is because they want the Korean-American alliance to stay strong. The opposite party (democratic) has a pro-China, pro-Northkorean, anit-American, anit-Japanese stance, while conservatives and president Yoon has the opposite. Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the democratic party even defined the U.S troops in S.Korea as occupiers. The democratic party is now getting out of our hands. They already impeached 29 people from the government in the past 2 years (including the president and prime minister) and are willing to continue this to the current acting president and anyone who opposes their thoughts. They are trying to protect Lee Jae-myung who is a very strong candidate for the next president. He still has 5 trials left and if he is found guilty, he can't become the candidate of the president election. The democratic party just wants president Yoon to get out and make Lee jae-myung president as quickly as they can, and make all of trials invalid. The democratic party charged president Yoon with rebellion on the ground of impeachment, but yesterday they suddenly said they are going to withdraw the rebellion in the grounds of impeachment. The problem is that they incited the people to impeach the president because he caused a rebellion for nearly a month. The majority of Korean media is biased and doesn't make any reports against the democratic party. Even though there were millions of people at the anti-impeachment rally, almost nobody knows about it since there were only a few articles about it.

Prior to Yoon's Martial law declaration, the major party in the parliament, who's against Yoon, impeached like 5 of Yoon's cabinet without any cause and delayed in appointing constitutional judges that impeachment of those would go forever halted or delayed, making his cabinet inoperable ;on the top of that the parliament made massive cut in 2025 budget which would've further paralyzed Yoon's regime. I still don't think Martial law was necessary personally that he could go for referendum if he was that desperate but he did succeed in making Koreans be aware of bullying of the majority party in the parliament and how their legislation has benefited China, making it more suspicious if really China was behind voting fraud. (The parliament refused to sign anti-espionage law which allowed the national security to investigate foreign spies whose nationality is not North Korean)

The pro-China and pro-North Korean opposition party dominating the Nation Assembly already impeached 31 high-ranking officials including the president, the prime minister, the Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister of Justice, the Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection, the Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, and the prosecutors investigating the opposition party leader Lee jae-myung.
