Palm Valley is home to a diverse range of plant species, many that are rare and unique to the area, including the red cabbage palm (Livistona mariae), which gives the area its name. There are around 3,000 adult palms and thousands of juveniles. We visited there in 1991.

*** TOWING NOTICE INFO *** Some FREE Expert* information on 4x4ing with a trailer/Van people... a) AIR DOWN the towee's tyres!!alot..to around 12psi ish...you don't need worry about tires coming off like turning vehicles.. b) WHEN you do become bogged with a trailer/van...ALWAYS MAX TRACK/TRAXX etc whatever it is that you are towing - FIRST!!! WHY?? Well the reason for this is, by making sure the trailer/van is NOW able to move with little resistance, you are therefore NOW removing the main reason (sand anchor) from the getting bogged situation. You do this because NORMALLY... when NOT TOWING, you would drive the 4x4 vehicle through the same such obstacle without any problems whatsoever yes?? BUT now, with a trailer you ALWAYS become bogged?? Therefore to rectify this ALWAYS GETTING BOGGED TOWING issue, since you can't delete or dump the trailer/van (sand anchor) instead, ENSURE trailor/van is ON AND ROLLING ON RECOVERY TRACKS which in doing so, you WILL NOW therefore be removing the main reason for the getting bogged from the equation... If you have any left over traction devices, apply under the 4x4s rear wheels and drive off not so fast your rear wheels throw the device out the back! TRY it!! you'll be blown away that you didnt know about this earlier..!?!? Yourself and everyone towing can all thank me later 👍👍👍 Cheers 🍺🍻 *30+yrs experience in 4x4ing, Racing Dakar,Baja, Finke, 10+ as Rapid Recovery Specialist of military personnel during Afg/Iraq - so am expert at rapid recoveries, especially whilst being shot at.. 😁 35yrs experience in caravans, towing and reverse parking customers vans since age of 7yrs old! 😁

52:50 Uluru is the tallest monolith in Australia but Mt Augustus (WA) is the biggest. Rising 717m above the flat plains which surround it, Mount Augustus covers an area of 4,795 hectares, making it one-and-a-half times larger than Uluru (3,330 hectares). It has a central ridge, almost eight kilometres long, and it is estimated to be more than 1,600 million years old. The easiest ways are from Carnarvon or Norseman.

The only way to tow in places like that is big wide tyres on the trailer and drop them to 12psi. That place has not changed in 15 years 😂 We all got caught out there too! Great video mate as always 🤠👍🍻

Your probably sick of people telling you, but I found in the dry fine sand 6-8psi depending on tyre side wall thickness, bead lockers etc. Once the sidewalls are bagged right out it will float across the top of the sand. I did a lot vehicle recovery all over Australia when I was in the Army.

Beautiful land. If you put a rock in front of the tyre might have worked to drive up on top of the tyre to break the bead, surprised by how easily the other one slipped on. reminds me of doing the great central highway in W.A. there and back to Uluru this year, so much more to see be good to go again next winter. :)

Try using bushman's next time beautiful insect repellent and the one with the green lid it actually has sunscreen in it and you can spray both of them like the on your face as well just make sure you shut eyes and mouth. Gidgee trees are another good source of insect repellent especially when in flower grab a handful of leaves and a bit of water mash into a lathering paste and spread over body

Amazing how much the small trailer load gets you bogged compared to the other vehicles, would you take a trailer for the extra comfort or go light next time?
@einfelder8262 Жыл бұрын
Not a small trailer - probably 1800-1900kg. A baby in a swag is not gonna happen, take the trailer.
@joblogs1072 Жыл бұрын
Agree babies are difficult to travel with and trailer is the better option. Just a bit surprised how hard it is to tow thought it would float a bit better.@@einfelder8262
@einfelder8262 Жыл бұрын
@@joblogs1072 The trailer is half the weight of the tow vehicle, so it won't "float" any better than the car. I have towed my camper through the Simpson, but it is much lighter at less than 1000kg loaded, and it runs 285 75 16 rubber, nice and wide and long footprint at 14psi, so nothing like the drag of the Opus megaweight.
