With certain patterns, I think of them the same way I think about cooking recipes. They're merely guidelines with plenty of opportunities to adjust things to taste or modify based on what you have on hand. You modified and adjusted this pattern to fit the yarn you had to work with and the doll you had on hand. I see no issue at all. We learn by watching trial and error and how others find solutions. I'm glad you chose this on a whim. Crafting should spark inspiration. Well done!

I have to say I love watching this channel, it calms me...and makes me feel, as a total newbie crocheter, feel like I can do ALL the things... Maybe a little over confident 😅. Thank you for helping me learn SO MUCH in the past 2 months I've been crocheting. I made the 1967 snood with you and love to wear it! I've been emboldened and I bought steel hooks and quite a few size 10 crochet thread colors to try my hand at a doily! I mentioned it to my stepmom, she is who I watched crocheting when I was growing up (I'm 46 now) I'm going back to visit at the end of the month ND she said she is going to look for the patterns her mom (my step grandmother) and grandmother did. I feel so honored out of the 15 grandkids and the only one who was from a previous marriage. I'm so excited!!

23:03 I love love love love watching you figure stuff out you are so thorough in your mistake-making it is beautiful! And I am not being sarcastic. We get to see every permutation of crochet! I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to watch you fail. But you succeeded so much more often right? There are two channels I always refer people to when I hear they are interested in crochet. One is TL yarn crafts and one is just vintage crochet. Also, did the conversation go something like since you enjoy stacked singles for regular crochet instead of chaining perhaps you would enjoy working into the chain in Tunisian crochet?

I think the reason that you are having so much trouble with shaping the bodice you were working with a modern silhouette and a pattern that doesn't exactly believe in boobs. The plastic doll has a much different body shape than the doll in the image. Even if the directions for specific enough, they would still be wrong.
