My wife bought me a mirror cube about 15 years ago. She thought it was going to be a harder challenge than the traditional cube. She was surprised and disappointed when within 10 minutes I was solving it with my eyes closed. But, as I insisted, I actually really like that. It was a different experience and fun.

My mom did a simillar thing to me, she bought me a mirror because it looked harder, and I didn't have the heart to tell her that 15 minutes is all it took me to solve it about 10 times. When she called me, all excited, I said that I was somewhere in the middle, and that it was pretty hard. She seemed happy, and till this day, she believes that I struggled with mirror for a while

I'm really good at teaching beginners and I've always wanted to try teaching someone who is blind to solve this. But it is hard to find any beginner who wants to learn, much less a blind beginner. Plus, this isn't exactly what I'm devoting my time to.

We did “mirror full blind” as an unofficial event at a cubing comp prior to lockdown and it was mad fun. Over the time we spent at home there was a big discussion about adding mirror blind as an event and while everyone agreed that it would be very good idea (it adds a new style of solving that is currently not offered with the current events yet is accessible to anyone that can solve a 3x3) BUT the problem came in when it came to defining the regs on what a mirror cube is. The concern being that manufacturers might try to push the hardware to make the event too easy one way or the other. Not to mention that there were mirror cubes that had rotationally symmetrical pieces which would need to be negated in some way. I still think it’s worth brainstorming a way to find a solution cause it’s a lot of fun

I brought in my mirror cube on one of my finals days when school was ending, I had it with me in English (I didn't have a final test, we had a project as our final instead of a standard test) and pretty much the only thing I did was solve it under my desk without looking at it. Honestly it's a neat challenge, it makes you think about the cube in ways you really don't normally.

This was the first type of cube that I learned to solve, for me it was like "with colors I just get confused but with this one I really see and feel if the piece is in the wrong place and how it is supposed to be turned to be in place" so I play with it so much that I ended up liking to solve it blind folded...miss those days, it was fun

deliberately practice turning accurately even if it means slower solves since it’ll be better in the long run. Try to make a game out of it, how many solves you can go without a lockup or smth like that. Also, the info about the cubes are slightly outdated since there have been new releases since the X, which came out like 2-3 year ago iirc

Interesting! The issue with these is that they use lots of double moves, and that makes them slower despite only being 11 moves. The fingertricks can be optimized when the main hand that the Algorithms operate on is perpendicular to Home Grip. Combining that with opposite-handed fingertricks means that there should be a maximum of 1 or 2 regrips, one of them only being an initial regrip (which can be mitigated with AUF). The ones containing M-moves have the outer/slice regrip issue though. Also, X-axis outer layer turns (R-moves, L-moves, and double-layered variants) tend to be the fastest of when 180°, and most of them are those X-axis outer layer turns.

Watching you do these puzzles has made me want to get a cube. Debating between 2x2 and 3x3. Should I just do 2x2 for now and eventually get a 3x3?
@mjgamingtv3766
@mjgamingtv3766 2 жыл бұрын
3x3 is a much better cube to start on. 2x2 should be pretty easy once you know how to solve the 3x3. Doing 2x2 first isn't that bad but it's much better to learn how to do the 3x3, since the 2x2 doesn't have edge pieces, learning 3x3 would be quite harder since you'll have to learn f2l or u can just stick to the begginer method first. But IMO u should get both and train 3x3 and then the other variations, that's how I did it but it's still your choice after all.
@maitryebhandare599
@maitryebhandare599 2 жыл бұрын
I think you should start from 3x3 because it's just the classic plus there's a lot to learn about it. And since it's more observed and learnt about, there's a lot to learn about it, so when you move to other cubes, you can use that knowledge.
