Did you soak the shirts in water before starting? That’s what makes the color not bead off and helps the color spread and soak in they still look good though!!

The problem was she didnt wash them prior, because they are brand new shirts the dye doesn't absorb into them correctly. That is why most of them appeared to have little dye on them. It literally is the first step in the directions of the kit she used. Surprisingly the sponge Bob one came out alright, she must of soaked that one in dye.

I work at a tie dye shop, I think what when wrong with the shirts that had too much white was that your rubber bands were really tight so it made it hard for the dye to soak in deep enough, as well as adding more dye wouldn’t hurt, good luck if you decide to try more tie dye!
