Sweet grits is a breakfast staple here. Butter and brown sugar is my personal favorite. Greens are also great with home fries and fried polish sausage. xD

you should try different meals from different parts of the south, i live in texas and the only thing i was familiar with was biscuits and gravy lol. here its more of a mexican influence in our food, like brisket/fajitas, chicken & waffles and whataburger

I thought the food was weird and disgusting but than realized I was being closed minded and we have similar foods such as ferment milk the part of Mexico my family is from has Tejuino which is a ferment corn beverage served with lime juice and sea salt and some lime icecream on top. Its funny but my boyfriend thought the Tejuino was disgusting and told me that where he is from they have a ferment pineapple drink.

@@elsiesteph02 If it makes u feel better, most people traditionally don't drink straight buttermilk. That must be only certain sections of the south since I'm southern and no one near me does. It's usually used as an ingredient for cooking and baking.

My mom used grits like cream of wheat or malt o meal, like a hot cereal. So when I was growing up we always put butter, sugar, and milk. 🤷🏻♀️ It was pretty yummy.
