@@kurosenpai582 yes I acknowledge that she has malay blood, but for some people, having malay blood does not necessarily mean you'll be fluent in speaking malay, especially if you are born and raised overseas. and some tend to diminish speaking bahasa in their household. but thankfully sumrah is trying to learn about her roots and I respect her for that. also, she "has" melayu blood bcus she still is :)

I studied language، culture and society. We were raised differently and that things affect our communication skill. I love her efforts of speaking Malay fluently even though she was raised in UK and probably their family doesn't speak Malay at all. Although she is still learning to speak fluently, I'm kinda proud of her even though I don't know her. She have the effort to mantain her own mother tongue. Sorry for being narrow minded because when I saw the title of the video I immediately assumed "hmmmm another Vivy Yusof" . You're doing great actually sweetheart keep on going💚💚

Honestly, I was like this before. I studied abroad for a really long time and I'm used to speaking in English and only using basic malay words when i'm talking to my parents. So it was really hard for me when i moved back to Malaysia. I could understand the language but it was hard for me to speak in Malay. I used to have ppl talking behind my back about my "shitty malay" and bng "snobbish, rude" etc, I improved a lot by now so yea when you are used to speaking using one language for a long time, it can be quite hard to speak in another language.

Dude, same, I can't speak BM to my distant relatives without them laughing at me because I speak bahasa baku with a weird accent even though I grew up in the UK and never went to sekolah kebangsaan. I can only type in BM. Theres literally no reason to hate on the ones that are AT LEAST TRYING TO LEARN AND SPEAK IT. People don't know that making fun of someones' bm discourages them to learn even further.

No worries dear Sumrah. Your BM will be better in no time! I was raised abroad in various countries since 5 until 20 year old. My BM was wayyy worst than yours. Alhamdulillah managed to speak bahasa well after befriending many malays after returning to malaysia for good. BM is not that hard to learn btw 😊
