First of all, thank you for your useful instructions, I have a question regarding this QR code attendance tracker: 1) Do we have to create a new link for every new lessons (because if we use the same QR code for future lessons, there might be too much overlapping data of the responses) 2) In case we use the same form and QR code throughout all classes, is there anyway to seperate the responses based on dates (because the class will take place on multiple dates)? Thank you so much in advance!
@MrsPTarleton23 күн бұрын
@nguyenphongvo Thank you for watching. All entry are time and date stamped in the spread sheet so you can easily see when the person logged in. You could change QR code for each class if that helps you feel more comfortable.

Great tips! Anything to make attendance go more quickly! BUT - if I post it on Google Classroom, is there a way to keep them from completing the form if they're not actually in class? The QR code involves their phones, which we're trying to do away with.
@MrsPTarleton Жыл бұрын
@jenniferlewis3895 I've tried posting QR code in class, so they have to scan in person, but I still get the occasional slick one who has a picture of it that they scan from home. That's why I count to be sure the same number checking in are also in class. Cell phones are a constant battle. We have a no cell policy also, and I have them put away after they check in. Most comply. I already had to use the behavior tracker because after multiple warnings about cell to class there was one who insisted on sneaking it out. Luckily I just made a copy of last year's and made a couple edits.

@@MrsPTarleton Sharing QR images with absent students concerns me too. Hopefully, not too many present students are helping their pals cheat like this.

What about tracking students that aren’t in class? How do you go about that. I have 43 kids per class.
@MrsPTarleton Жыл бұрын
@PescesKitchen You can do a Vlookup which would probably be the best way to mark absent students.

I have a few questions was trying to do something like this for our bus monitors , to scan the kids school ID (which already has a barcode) when they get on the bus and scan it when they get off, and then look at the google sheet to show , well little johnny never sign out he must fell asleep on the bus... so more like a sign in/sign out google sheet?? any suggestions >
@MrsPTarleton2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how you could scan the barcode. I'm wondering if the students can enter their student ID number as the entered and exited. Would that work?

Does this work even if for example we do not have internet connection for that specific day?
@MrsPTarleton Жыл бұрын
@ariahkali7392 Unfortunately, Google Forms is cloud based and needs internet to work. My students all seem to have cells so I'd have them do that if ok with parents, and I'd log in the 1 or 2 who do not have cells.

great turtorial😊 Thanks! is their a easy way to see who is missing in class in Google sheets??. I have over 100 student in a week in different class’. I need a quick view who i have to follow up on- thx🙏
@MrsPTarleton Жыл бұрын
@kristoffer You could do conditional formatting to color code Google Sheets to help you see who is absent. Or another option is to sort the sheet based on who is absent.
@PescesKitchen Жыл бұрын
I’m looking for the same. No response yet. I have 260 per day day. I think this is great; but not being able to track who isn’t in class will make this form incomplete
@PescesKitchen Жыл бұрын
@@MrsPTarletonhow do you do this?
@MrsPTarleton Жыл бұрын
@PescesKitchen you need to set up conditional formatting which is ki d of clunky or a V look up and it will show you who is absent.

So you just log the entire year of attendance in the same sheet.?

@thefandom I generally do it by month. Less data to sift through. I just make sure to name them so I can easily find them.

Also, if I'm already using GSheets for our existing rosters can I use those instead of creating a new form?
@MrsPTarleton2 жыл бұрын
Yes, when you create your sheet you can choose to gather data in new sheet or existing sheet.

Do you create a new form every day? Then is there a new QR for each one?
@MrsPTarleton Жыл бұрын
@KatGillang you could use a new QR code each day but you do not have to. The form allows for multiple responses and tracks them showing exact date and time student checked in.

I don't understand how this helps with attendance. It seems that with this system I will have a spreadsheet telling me who came to class at what time. But I need to know who did not come to class. So next I would have to check this spreadsheet against a full list of students to determine who did not come. Hence, I believe it would be simpler and faster simply to call roll and mark the absent students as I go. Is there something I have missed about this? If not, does anyone know of an app where I can enter the full class list, and then use a QR code in a similar way as described here, but whereby I can see who did not attend? Thanks in advance.
@MrsPTarleton Жыл бұрын
@daniel for me I sort students by name and period, so it's a quick glance down my roster to see who is missing. You've got me thinking of ways to get the absent students highlighted. I've got some ideas I'll need to try. Thank you for the feedback.
@MrsPTarleton Жыл бұрын
@daniel I've looked into this and the easiest way to do what you are asking is with a VLOOKUP it will be time consuming to set up for 180+ days of school but you'd be able to use it year after year.

I tried it but It didn´t save a google sheets spread sheet, does anyone know why?

Under responses click the green icon (sheets) top right to create spreadsheet for data gathered. Hope that answered your question. If I misunderstood let me know and I'll definitely try to help figure it out.

Can i use this for everyday attendance or i should create everyday?
@MrsPTarleton10 ай бұрын
You can use it daily as there is a time stamp for each entry. You may want to make a separate one for each week or month depending on the size of your classes and label them with the date range to easily organize.

@@MrsPTarleton I'd like to create a new QR code for each class meeting. Will they be able to use a previous QR code to sign in for the current day's attendance?
@cristinaiftode9421 Жыл бұрын
I verified and any of the previous QR codes can be used to sign in the same form used to generate the codes, if multiple answers are allowed. So there is really no justification to create one new QR code for each class meeting, unless the codes are linked to new forms (one per class meeting) with the requirement of 1 response only per form.

@@cristinaiftode9421 Thank you for checking into that.

How to include time in and time out?
@MrsPTarleton10 ай бұрын
Time in is listed on the spreadsheet on the far left. To get time out you'd have to enter a separate question for them to also sign out.
