I am having an issue. This works for an item only one time for me. After it goes through a check out, check in cycle. It will always just say ("is in") not matter if its checked out or in.

@@ambiorix2552 Instead of using the current formula, you could calculate the total number of items checked out for each item and the total number of items checked in. Then, use a formula to subtract the count of checked-in items from the count of checked-out items. Finally, add another formula to determine the status: if the result equals 0, the item is in; if it is greater than 0, the item is out.

Has anyone figured out the issue with checking the same item out and in back to back. It seems to only work once. The second time it acts like it is checking the item out, but on the status, it keeps saying "item IS IN" I basically just want the see the items that are OUT show up on the status. If they are checked back IN, I would like it to remove itself from the status. Is this possible?

got it to work for the first checkout. however to recheck out the same item, it still shows as in because of the way the formula is written. any suggestions? Awesome program, using it to check in/out tablets throughout the day at my work. One issue that I'm running into is when i check a tablet back in, then I have to check it back out later on in the day, it shows as returned even though I just checked it out. Is there a way I could put a counter on how many times each one was checked out and check it to see how many times its been checked back in, then display who the most recent one to check it out was? Or maybe a script that deletes the data if its been turned in so that it cant pull that data to check against again?

You need to delete the checked-in item specifically in two places: the first is to delete the name of the checked-in item in "Form Responses 1", and then delete the same in "Form Responses 2" (don't touch STATUS). After doing these two procedures, you will be able to check-out the same item again.

Pretty Cool. I've have it working. I'm actually only using one form with a option to Check-in or Check-out and then performing queries. The one thing I have noticed is if I'm creating a QR code for an inventory item using the "Text" option it doesn't want to scan. It does scan if I use the "URL" option. Purchased - will be pretty handy for me.

@@cindysmidt3160 Hi Cindy, I had to move to a free/paid service called Librarika. The performance of the sheet really started bogging down when I started adding items. Librarika is more for books, but it does a good enough job with equipment for my purposes.

Yeah, the spreadsheet is not going to handle all possible scenarios. Perhaps you could, at the end of the day, erase all the records from the IN and OUT sheets to start over for the next day. After you have made a record of anything still out for follow up.

How do you prevent from Checking in if the item is not checked out? I would like to see some type of message like "item is not checked out, unable to check-in". Or perhaps to avoid checking out an item that is already checked out to someone else?

Hey, I have also just tried this and took me a minute, but I figured it out. For some reason, the code auto sets the FILL option for the cell to be BLACK. If you switch the FILL option back to TRANSPARENT - you can see the words. Hope this helps.

Hi, yes you can do a count formula over the check in column. Look for > 1 (greater than 1) Google Forms are one way only. You cannot send feedback to the form if a previous value is entered. The app Scan to Web has a duplicate scan setting. So you can present an error if the barcode is scanned twice on the same tablet or phone.

I would not recommend deleting…history is data…data is valuable. You can use the data to create various reports and summaries such as one persons attendance over a specific time period.
