That is awesome. I moved from Mobile to New Mexico right as the monsoon season got going. It was crazy this year. You two had so much fun despite the weather. Great to see such positivity.

It’s an amazing event that everyone should attend at some point. There is nothing like it! I also suggest watching it from the field AND off the field in the distance on another day! The balloon glows are incredible too

I was there as well and had an opportunity to Crew and chase down a balloon with the Griggs family, and a balloon named Windrose. They were such kind people to let a complete stranger enjoy this with them. What an amazing experience, and this video captures the essence of it so well. How wonderful to relive the Balloon Fiesta! In spite of the crazy weather, it was worth attending. I didn't crew or ride, so those parts of the video are a nice bonus. I definitely came away from the Fiesta with a deep appreciation of the crews and organizers, and the art and science of ballooning. The things the video didn't capture is the controlled chaos of being on the field, the smell of the propane and sound of the balloons, and the excitement and cheering of the crowd. But Liz's excitement shone through! Thanks for a great video.

Great experience being on a chase crew and then getting the ride. We were there that Tuesday - Thursday so got the rain day but then got to see the special shapes ascent. It was very colorful. Sorry we missed you there.

I was there. I went to the fiesta in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2022.i took my sister and brother in law in 2022. It is amazing. Plan for hotel room at least 6 months before event.

You have to book it much earlier in the year. Their website says when it opens. And the spots go fast. We only got in on the wait list because all the spots filled up back in March. There's loads of info about the camping on their site.

several years we we took a balloon ride over Lake Tahoe. It took off and landed from a barge in the lake. The barge followed the balloon around it was the best take off and landing ever. Very cool ride.

Wish we could have gone. We were on the wait list too, but we did not get notified of a cancelation. We were nearby hoping to hear something. Yeah it's cool to attend as a spectator, but those balloons are also quite dangerous. Just last year several people died, and this year several more we're injured. People die or get injured almost every single year during the balloon festival. Two of my own family were even injured in at the same festival one year in two separate balloon crashes back in the 90's when the festival was held in Las Cruces, NM.

Sorry to hear that! Yes ballooning is a serious sport. If a flight goes wrong it can lead to injury. Thankfully it's not that common. Doesn't mean it can't happen though.

My mom was in one of the balloons that came down in a pecan orchard pretty hard, not sure what the cause of that one was, and then I was in another balloon that had a really hard landing due to the vent rope getting tangled around the fire extinguisher in the basket during decent for landing causing the balloon vent to become stuck in the open position while we were still several hundred feet in the air. The pilot tried to untangle it quickly and when that failed he tried running the burner hard to keep the balloon from falling too quickly but it will still a real hard landing that even caused the balloon to bounce back up about 50+ feet after the first impact. Nobody was seriously injured though, just a little banged up.
