I was diagnosed with adhd since i was really young like really really young can't even remember. When i got my previous job i was being showed how to do my job by the manger he was explaining to me the job and i believed i understood what he was talking about and i thought i understood what he meant but seconds later i completely had forgotten every single thing my manager had explained to me. And my first thought was let's wing it. But my manger looked me dead in the eye and asked me to do the task. I did it all wrong. And i can never forget how he looked at me and asked me if i forgot. after all this, all i thought was, what ifs. And a bunch of different alternate realties of how this could have gone better. On the bright side i like to consider my self a bit lucky. For the fact how fast my brain seems to work towards things that i am passionate for. Even though it seems i'm just going through life with "goal without a plan".

I wish I could turn back time and realized then explained these symptoms to my doctor instead of asking my parents to take me to the doctor to see if I had adhd. @Azim Premji The average age for starting to talk for severe or high level autism is 3 to 5 years. There is no known cure. In fact there is no treatment that has been proven to be effective. AUTISM IS A BRAIN ISSUE DETECTABLE ON MRI SCAN, IT IS NOT A MOOD DISORDER. Herbs and supplements should NEVER be given to children unless advised by a medical Dr, not a herb specialist. Being autistic myself, it doesn't sound like the Dr is helping at all and it appears your child developing at a natural pace for autistic communication. Your Dr is a quack and you should get medical support from professionals and they will confirm this is normal development times for Autism. I wish you the best of luck with your child, take care.

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 8. I’m now 23. Growing up I was labeled as “weird” or “crazy” because of my impulsivity and untreated social skills. I was placed on Focalin and placed in a prep school that treats children with leaning disabilities in middle school. That school was a sister school on the same campus as a school for “normal” kids. We were encouraged to blend with them. I never could, at least comfortably. I had quite a few friends but learned that behind my back they talked shit and were judging me. Feeling outcast, alone, and judged, I tried to commit suicide when I was 16. My parents saved my life and pulled me out of that school and placed me in a residential treatment home for mental illness. I was treated and exited the program in 3 months. I went on to a therapeutic school where I felt understood and flourished. I’m now 23, two degrees, and working as a cosmetologist. ADHD makes you different but it also makes you unique in the best way. You aren’t alone. You can still succeed and live a normal life. It gets better. ❤️

@@JBoxy7my guess is, you either really don’t have anything tied to it, your version clearly isn’t sever enough, or you have support.(more than you realize) For many adults, they’re unpacking years of trauma, mental strain, and other forms of exhaustion. Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you have all the answers to such a way that you can go about deal with this stuff. Many don’t even have the opportunities necessary to deal with this(and before you say you should look for it, might I refer you to my first point) Everyone is going through their own struggles and if their struggle is TRULY tied to something like this, the last thing anybody needs to hear is, it’s their fault when in reality, they’re working with the tools they’ve been given🙄

@@kingrobotnik6950 well I was a bit too aggressive with my comment. I shouldntve said it like that. I just dont like when people whine about their disabilities and make it other peoples problems. Obviously there is a difference between that and genuinely seeking help but it's an easy difference to spot. It frustrates me to see people with minor issues whine when people with the same thing but much more severe are pushing all on their own. 😭😭 I am 25 with 3 failed attempts to finish a university.. I change jobs a lot, because I hate being tied to the same place.. I am not hyperactive physically though, in fact, I like to lay and sleep a lot. At the same time I am pretty smart and people are usually shocked when they learn I only have a school diploma. I’ve just learned about ADD yesterday and I have a strong sensation that’s what happened to me. Is there really some sort of plan that can make me focused enough for this world’s duties?🥲

i had a classmate who has ADHD and most of our classmates found her annoying though i didn’t know her that well, i still understood her since i thought that “what if she was going through something that causes such behavior?”. i soon found out that she has ADHD. this is why being nice to someone or trying to understand them especially if you don’t know them thoroughly is important.

I have ADD (not ADHD), it's not that severe in the sense of getting distracted. However, I have pretty bad rapid mood swings that get set off really easily... I might be getting medication soon to treat them. I just feel like people think that I'm over dramatic or just don't get that ADD/ADHD doesn't just make you distracted/hyperactive/impulsive... Anyways, hopefully we can help educate people on more uncommon symptoms in mental illnesses! :-)

Good explanation for the general public and I'm NOT criticizing this video. But as someone diagnosed with ADHD as an adult (with all the symptoms as a child too), ADHD is much more complicated than described. One example is no mention of hyper-focus that one can have. I'd also love to know more about other ADHD medications such as modafinil (sometimes used off-label for ADHD). Any chance of a more detailed explanation in the future? If not, this is still very good to help most people (especially those who don't have it) understand it better!

I can't stay still for super long, sometimes in the middle of dinner or just randomly throughout the day I get up and walk around for no reason because theres nothing to do, I stretch for no reason at the weirdest times, and I am always moving somehow, like swinging my feet, rocking back and forth, I'm super fidgety all the time and I forget the simplest things, sometimes I'll just lay down in the weirdest spots and then move to another spot, I love reading but I can never stay focused on a book for too long, I zone out or just look around and stuff, I don't always understand things the same way as others do. I think I have ADHD but I don't want to self diagnose, anyone with ADHD or people who know enough about it, if you see this comment could you help me? Edit: a long time later and my therapist says I have adhd and now I think I'm also on the spectrum for autism, these aren't the only things I express but I do have symptoms and I might try and find out more

Being raised in a small country town where my teachers were 100 years old, I went to school when ADHD was not known a lot about. Starting 1st grade in ’57 and finishing in ’69, teachers beat me up for 12 years straight. I was constantly called a loser, a trouble maker, telling me and the entire class that I didn’t care and would never amount to anything. I could not sit still nor concentrate on any subject. Even when my parents got me a tutor, I couldn’t understand what they were trying to teach me, and couldn’t concentrate, so my mind would wander. My sister and brother went to college, succeeding at the top of their class, (my sister getting 2 degrees), my parent could understand why I didn’t have the same capabilities. Jumping from low-paying jobs, I was always under the impression that I’m just a dumb ass. That is until about 10 years ago when I took an IQ test at UTA and made a score of 122-126 in every category except math, which was always my worst subject. By that time I retired and now don’t have a pot to piss in. It was always drilled into my head that I was a nobody. Most people would think, "oh yeah, not me, I’ll show you all". Regretfully, I didn’t, I just went along with what I was taught, a loser, a nobody, which has kept me in a state of low self-esteem ever since.

I think my ADD also has something to do with my lack of time for things. I always had classes as a kid so I always tried to know what time it was. I was that one kid who ALWAYS followed the rules and went into depression if I said anything slightly racist/sexist or I broke a rule (getting up to drink water without asking the teacher first). I always check the clock. Every 5 seconds I check the fucking clock. I can't stop. I WANT TO STOP. I CANT STOP. DESTROY THE CLOCK. I NEED MORE TIME

Diagnosed in early teens now on mid 20s.....this is what helped me. (Still a struggle) I was put on all sorts of meds none worked well as a kid. Luckily they let the teachers know and some we're pretty understand. One said if I didn't keep my feet under my desk I would in trouble (BTW she was specifically TRAINED for students with disabilities but I digress) Get up and move as much as possible. At recess doing active things.....in gym when you are told to jog/run do it don't walk you want to burn yourself out. When home work comes find a place that's isolated (I would zone out the window or at the TV) also talk to your parents about caffeinated soda which acts as a mild stimulant to help. Before doing homework run around outside or hit a punching bag it dance or anything active before doing it. Also don't do it later in the day......the longer after school you do it the more you will be mentally fried. Get that junk done and over with fast. As a young adult get a job where you move around and something not repetitive. You need something interesting and that isn't the same always. (My first was farm work got lots of exercise, animals don't talk crap, you are always doing things a bit different each day. A good first job or more for someone with ADHD) As an adult try to go for long walks or bike rides or swim anything active each day to burn off the edge. If you like pets a dog is a great excuse to be active....and won't care if you zone while petting it.😉 If your like me and like to talk find a job with a co-worker. Working alone for a talkative individual is horrible. They have to be understanding too though. Other wise they will not get you. (Luckily my coworker grew up with a family full of people with add/ADHD so they understand. They are not so hyper but do zone out which I also understand. My job also doesn't require my attention 100% of the time and I am always moving, lifting, and not on a time crunch if I get the job done. Don't plan on being a desk warrior with internet access if you are suppose to only be typing a paper. As for appointments and events use your smart phone!!!!! I often use my alarms to remind me. If you don't have or want a smart phone Dollar Tree sells a weekly daily planner where you can write things down and look at it each day. My place doesn't stay perfectly clutter free the dishes aren't done each day but I do that stuff on the weekends. I try to set a schedule and will make a check list if I am planning something big and important. (again smart phone has that or paper) School was horrible but as an adult I now know myself and ADHD way better. Not on any medication but do use CBD oil from time to time which helps SOME with racing mind. Also put on plane music in the background when doing projects it helps me a lot. Blue tooth is great for working on my vehicle or getting ready in the morning. My mind can listen to the noise while my eyes and hands make breakfast or work on the vehicle. Bottom line there are drugs that work for SOME but are the side effects worth it....you need to be the judge try being active and *caffeine beverages (*not daily) first. One relative was NOT HYPERACTIVE and after a few years on a few different anti depressants NOW IS and use to give us crap about twitching but does it herself now. Drugs can be great but decide on risk vs benefit. Kiddy Cocaine is some times what ADHD meds are called because it's extremely similar to a slow acting cocaine that much more pure. Don't get discouraged.... learn what helps you...stick around those that understand and don't worry about those that don't.

I am beginning to become concerned on whether or not i have ADD/ADHD. I often lose focus when being told something or in a conversation, etc, and find it troubling and almost impossible to sit still for long periods of time. I cannot remember if this has been going on for many years, or if i just have a hyperactive imagination and i‘m actually fine. I do, however, recognize many symptoms of adhd that match my own. My mother did not abuse substances, but my uncle does have ADHD. I was an early birth and also dropped on my head as a child. When homeschooled, i was constantly reprimanded for not sitting still, but as i entered high school i noticed i still move around a lot- just in less noticeable ways. In my science class and when sitting on a chair with no back, i often climb onto it with weird positions. I bounce my leg, and when possible play around with objects in my vicinity. When there are none, I will play around with my hands. When holding my guitar in any situation i will start to drum on it for no reason until i am forced to stop, but this isn‘t that bad. I am an adrenaline junkie, and i find that when i am put in stressful/adrenaline filled situations i work much better and am more focused. I get distracted incredibly easily, and tend to catch myself zoning out many time within minutes to hours. I am not diagnosed, but am considering getting a diagnosis.

I’m not diagnosed, nor do I want to diagnose myself but I know I may have adhd because of how much I relate to it. - I’m in bottom classes for not doing assignments, or them arriving late. For zoning out all the time unless it’s a subject I like. - I zone out when my friends are speaking, literally I was just staring off at my friend while she was speaking and she asked if I was listening then asked to repeat what she just said and I just stood there and shrugged - I hyperfocus on the things i’m passionate about, such as music, dance, singing and video games - As much as I love movies and videos I zone out a lot during it - I don’t ever stop moving. At. all. - I can’t ENGLISH - I get very angry easily to the point where I just want to punch someone which is not good (I broke my ipad once uhm-) and ye ye okay i’m tired that’s all i’m gonna say goodnight

I made it like barely a minute in didn’t hear anything more than like five words during that minute and then I started pacing around my room talking to my self for at least ten minutes and then sit back down and I had completely forgotten about the video and now I’m here.

After being diagnosed, I am doing a lot of research on what ADHD actually means. It's really interesting to learn how mg brain works.
@pyrofful5 жыл бұрын
Right it's good to get an idea but as grow old you will learn exactly how it works and come up with tricks. Looking it up does help but time helps even more for specifics

@@pyrofful for sure! I'm just glad there are resources out there to give me an idea!

Right! My father was held back in elementary school way back when they thought it was just "misbehaving" he also got smacked with the ruler also for the same things related to ADHD his parents blamed him and he blamed himself since it wasn't a thing back then......now he is head at his job in his department and others are asking him for help. Luckily we weren't raised in that generation!

@@lillianreichel8215 That's awesome! With the right people it is only a small set back in the grand scheme of things. It only disables as much as we let it. Good luck with things! God Bless

When a child with ADHD going very hyperactive, is their movement influenced by the conscious nerves? Or by the unconscious nerves?
@idomge24635 жыл бұрын
Dhea Ayu Paramitha im 12, and although we say we ‘cant control’ it, it’s normally us carrying on because it makes us feel better? Like a person with Tourette’s hitting them self because it soothes them. It’s very complicated but staying still is like someone kicking your chair on a plane. We do it not because to annoy others- but to get rid of a strange feeling
@pyrofful5 жыл бұрын
Id0mg said it well. It is controllable but not forever. It feels great to do it and not doing it is uncomfortable. You feel the urge and want to do it and if you resist some times you will do it subconsciously after awhile of waiting. Like shaking my leg in church. I would be try to stop for my mom but would start it again without thinking about it.

I'm sixteen and I'm absolute shit at school, even tho all my teachers believe I have potential, simply because it's near impossible for me to keep on studying without getting distracted. If my parents ask me to go get something from another room, I often fail to do so because I all of a sudden forget what they wanted in the first place. I'm also so hyperactive that all my friends believe I have non verbal tourettes. I'm starting to believe I might have ADHD

Get a fidget toy. (Don't need to buy one made for this) something like a pen or that blue poster putty works good as a (I'm not crazy with a "special toy") figet toy. The pen can drive a teacher nuts from clicking it and poster putty turns hands blue a little but they work if you can't get normal putty or a fidget toy. Good luck. Sorry about the length I know it's hard to read 😆

I like to see the comments because I genuinely enjoy reading them, not because I can't focus. I do watch the video first, but then I pause or let it play while reading comments because it's fun (and I like to interact with people) from there, too. It depends on the video, though. Anyone else have this same thing?
@sophielier23899 ай бұрын
It’s not just about not focusing it’s also about people not understanding you because you function differently, it’s feels so alone
