Thank you for making this video on attention getters. I’ve been searching for catchy fun ones, and now I have a few to try with my kiddos. My favorite was the hocus pocus, everybody focus, and Macaroni cheese, everybody freeze. I love how your kiddos are so excited and engaged with these attention getters! Great video, and you seem such a wonderful kind hearted, and fun teacher! 💕

mombjl S. Hi, I know this is an older comment, but I just wanted to say that they actually work quite well for preschoolers! I used them when I first started teaching (3 yr olds). I would say "flat tire" and they would respond with "shhhhh". It was super cute and and effective in getting their attention. Most importantly, they LOVED it!

Ms. May, do u do centers for reading and math? How did u implement them? I was doing centers but just as a fun Friday reward but now my principal wants us to do them daily and I'm a little overwhelmed with doing daily 5 type activities...mostly the transitions from one activity to the next. Any ideas? I could do an attention getter but how much time to transition from one to the next? Help!

Thank you so much for the advice! I just love your videos! I’m taking notes so I can be better prepared for this upcoming school year. One callback that really helped me this past school year was saying, “Shhh, shhh, shhh” and the students say, “shhh, shhh, shhh” back. I use different patterns, volumes, and speeds of the “shh” noise and kids repeat back however I do it. It gets the class quiet very quickly. Wasn’t sure if you’d done that callback before, so I thought I would just mention it 🙂 Take care ♥️

Do you use random attention getters throughout the day? Or do you stay consistent and use one throughout the year or one per month? Or do you mix it up to keep it interesting? Do you come up with a few as a class on the first day of school or during the first week??? I want to use a few as well but I'm not sure if it'll sort of affect the routine since different ones may be hard for students to keep up with? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm binge watching your videos because I truly love your teaching style xx hope you don't mind!
@OneFABTeacher7 жыл бұрын
+Pocketful of Positivity I use random ones throughout the year. I have to mix them up to keep them excited about it. I would just use ones that your kiddos can handle. Teach them consistently the first week. I usually teach them four different ones the first couple of weeks and change them up and introduce more every few months. (( HUGS )) have a fab year!
