Thanks for the update Chelsea. C6 hydro lite looking great so far. In my experience, the horizontal panels are affected by mineral build up moreso than the lower vertical panels which get affected more by road grime. So more waterspot remover 😮on the horizontals and more high ph treatment (such as carpro like lift) on the verticals.

Gyeon Mhos Evo is a true destroyer - god like coating 🙇♂️ and sooooo easy to apply (10x easier than any coating I applied, also - no high spots as it's super easy to level) 🦾 oh and take into consideration that the coatings on the lower back of the car and rear end will take a beating 🫃Great test Chels! Keep it up, I'm super interested in this test (Mohs for the win!)

I have the 8/3 stack on my pickup for 9 months now. Applied it exactly one week before the C6 Hydro came out. We applied that on a buddy’s CRV and he says it repels dirt dust and is hydrophobic like none other. If the stack fails than it will be Hydro. Great video.

Never heard of many of those coatings! Interesting to see the different characteristics though. I applied Pan's 8-year to my new Camry. One month in. It beads really well and I like that, though beads makes a mess on the back end where they dry and leave blobs of dirt, especially on the ledges after rain. The NW PA weather has finally gotten wet in the last week or so, after a prolonged dry spell, where all I saw was dust! I've noticed the traffic film really clogs the coating from 12 o'clock at the front wheel down to about 6 inches above the sill at the shutline between the two doors, mirrored up to and all around the rear fender and all around the backend. It's very noticeable after just one week. I expected the ceramic coating to perform better than a ceramic spray, which exhibits the same film buildup. It does easily unclog though with a simple contact wash, either with Rinseless or soap. That stuff on the roads is nasty! I didn't see much on your Outback.

I have completed three vehicles in the last month with Armour PRO Quartz and Amplify after 4 hrs. After full prep steps using ADS Decon soap and Iron, I found that application was a bit tricky at first due to our humidity in Florida. Once I dialed in the flash time, leveling was spot on. The gloss and slickness improved drastically as the product cured, just in the first 24 hours. Two of the three are daily’s, will be keeping an eye on them moving forward.

Updates on the water spot resistance from the various coatings will be great! I’m finding a lot of ceramic coated cars are coming in with hard water spots that are prevalent in our area. Many customers don’t want to perform extra treatments for water spots. They just want their car to look cleaner for longer.

I used diy water spot remover on my ceramic coating and I was shocked. I thoroughly believed that my 9 yr coating had failed prematurely. Nope. It was mineral clogged. This is something everyone who has a coated vehicle should know. Because I was almost ready to redo my entire car 😂. But diy detail water spot remover is sold out atm. I would try a spray wax on top of a coating to help prevent water spots or try using Koch Chemie NMS shampoo since it gives sheeting properties. Water spotting is more of a concern with coated cares than a waxed car so use the benefits of both to protect vehicle
@attention2detailswchelseaАй бұрын
The coating may reject it and cause streaking issues
@davidnuxoll7074Ай бұрын
@ trial and error approach however cross linking polymer waxes have been out for a while. KCX nano magic NMS shampoo is wax based sheeting shampoo. I have Lithium Elixir Mudslide base with ethos ceramic spray wax on top. Both supposed to last a year. My truck is outside 24/7 no water spots. I use a ph neutral soap for cleaning or rinseless wash for weekly detail

I emailed Nick at McKee's 37 on maintaining the coating and he recommended to apply the McKee's 37 Hydro Graphene Ceramic coating spray on 6-8 weeks after washing and rinsing apply the McKee's 37 Hydro Graphene Ceramic coating one panel at a time and rinse. As in your video the water beads are big and just rolls right off. I'm very pleased with the performance of all the McKee's 37 product line...

To be factual, they are not 'water spots'. Rainwater does not leave 'spots' on the paintwork, it's the contaminants contained IN the rainwater which has been deposited on the paint after the water has evaporated.
@1kontrabidaАй бұрын
aka Mineral deposits such as Calcium, Magnesium, iron and etc that does not evaporate with water leaving marks that starts eating ur clear coat if left on the paint for far too long. I'd say Calcium and magnesium are the most one that does the damage.
@DjNikGnashersАй бұрын
@@1kontrabida Yes I agree (worked as a valeter at main dealerships, getting cars ready for the showroom, and been a hobby detailer for decades myself). I think bird droppings are the worst personally, the acidic properties really etch themselves into the clearcoat quite quickly. I live in a hard water area, and the tap water is awful, full of limescale, so I have to be really careful after rinsing. Rainwater here is really clean, I never have any issues, unless (for example) something like Sahara dust gets brought over and the rain dumps it onto everything, which is what the 'spots' on the paint in this video looked like. So yes, as I said, it is the contaminants IN the rainwater which are the issue, not the rainwater itself, because the actual water does not leave any spots itself, thank you for agreeing. I'm being slightly pedantic I know, but the only way viewers learn the truth, is by listening to people such as yourself who can go into a little detail, and explain things properly. I just thought that constantly saying 'water spots' didn't really address the actual real reason for marks on the paint, because unless it was tap water left to dry on the car, there shouldn't be any issue with rainwater, unless it contains contaminants. and the vast majority of the time it is very clean indeed and does not leave any marks.
@DjNikGnashersАй бұрын
Just to add, the worst deposits on clearcoat I have experienced, were from brand new cars being sat for months at Newbury docks, having been shipped over from Korea (this was when I worked for a UK Hyundai dealership). Not only were they sat near the sea, it was under a flight path from Heathrow airport, and they were covered in seagull droppings, and discarded jet fuel from aircraft. That was much more destructive than any natural mineral deposits carried in rainwater, and quite difficult to resolve.
@DjNikGnashersАй бұрын
@@eppyz Yes of course. It isn't the rain which is acidic though, as I already said twice now, it's a contaminant carried by the rain, and it's not in every rainfall, in fact I hardly ever see anything acidic in the rain where I am.
@DjNikGnashersАй бұрын

I had MohsEvo on one of my cars. Its a beader for sure, but seemed not to release the water too well. Side panels were fine, but hood and roof became problematic. Lots of mineral build up, and you could pick up those phantom water spots, when drying the car. I installed Kronos V2 on my wife's car, and within a week, i was completely jealous. After rain, her car, Kronos, was almost dry on the side panels, while my car, Mohs, was still full of water beads. Once the car moves, Kronos just dumps all the water off. With Mohs, the water klings. Gloss and slickness better with Kronos. My 8 months of Mohs ended, when Energo 5:1 ended its life, lol. I was not sad at all.

As for dirt etching in your paint after rain. I don't think so. etching is a different chemical process. The reason you see more rain drops with dirt on the ceramic areas is because without the ceramic coating the dirt will go down into and fill the pores of your paint. This is why it will look more dull, and when you wash you see paint swirl. With the ceramic, it fills the pores of your paint, thus pushing all dirt to the surface making it easier to clean while protecting your paint from dulling and paint swirl.
