I don't think that the winning pony "missed" the start. I think the rider was cagey enough to hold the pony back until those in the lead got tired...it's a well known strategy called "winning from the back." Although I guessed that this what was unfolding I must also admit I amazed that someone so young was astute enough to pull this off! Well done, well done!

Shetland's are good weight carriers. As long as you are light you can ride them. It's just uncomfortable for you if you are tall. I think most places have the weight limit as 6-7stone.

I know the brown and red toned one would be the top two, they had the biggest gaits and instantly put on steam after the start. Where as the other two lost steam after the start.
