We built our own house and put an 8 mil vapor barrier on the ceiling sealed around the edges with acoustic seal other wise know as Black Death because it gets on everything if you are now careful. We heat a 3000 sqft garage and duplex with about 600 gallons of heating oil here in Alaska.
