If you want to find the best local food ask locals...like that person did. The liquid ie the broth is made by boiling seafood and letting it simmer longer for maximun flavour. You should try the Char Kueh Tiaw there. When eating cendol, you have to mix everything so that the palm sugar below sweetens the shaved ice and the coconut milk. There a food museum also where you can learn more about Malaysian food and take instagramable pictures.

Discovered your channel a bit late, but just giving some suggestions in case you guys are planning to come back to Penang in the future. When it comes to street food in Georgetown it's a bit tricky because all the recommended street food stalls are not all in the same area unless you go to a hawker centre/food court where you can find most of the street food in one place. Another alternative for street food experience in Penang, you guys should visit the jelutong area especially in Perak road (nearby fire station) and jelutong road (jelutong town). You could find roadside hawker stalls and eateries along the stretch of both roads, offering local Penang street fares. All within walking distance so it would be convenient for those who prefer to find local Penang fare within an area.

For a different experience of George Town, you could spend an hour or two at the old Protestant Cemetery. Established in 1786 it's probably the oldest Protestant burial ground in the Far East. It's a short walk from Eastern & Oriental Hotel itself a historic hotel in colonial style building started by the famous Armenian Sarkies Brothers in 1885.

Very nice take on Penang guys! Hope you guys had a blast.... Just a note, right outside your hotel on Queen Street is the BEST nasi dalcha you can eat in Penang! Rahim Nasi Dalcha is excellent, it is rice cooked with spices and ghee, and served with different fragrant curries, vegetables and fried chicken. I hope you had a chance to try it, no need to walk very far for good food in Little India. And the corner of the next street, King Street, you will find the best samosas on Earth... try the freshly fried egg samosas as a really great snack! (The Google map address isn't accurate and puts it on Queen Street but it is actually on the next street, Kind Street).

Nice Hokkien mee (prawn noodles) in Penang. Watching you guys on youtube now. Just a word of caution. When you get to Kuala Lumpur & you see Hokkien Mee, it is not the same Hokkien Mee as what you have eaten in Georgetown. The KL Hokkien Mee is wok fried thick noodles drenched in thick soy sauce so it looks dark fried noodles. Some fry it over charcoal stove which is the best way of cooking. Enjoy your trip in Penang. Try to find Moh Teng Peow shop for good Nyonya food.

Hi A&Z, Hope you’re enjoying your time in Malaysia so far! As you may well notice by now, Malaysians are a food-obsessed lot 😂 Our national pride is defined by our food pride so much so that it becomes hotly debated topics in some spaces. I personally come from the Sarawak side of the country (in Borneo) and have travelled to Penang just for the food. You’ll find some suggestions along the way whenever you film yourselves having a meal. Malaysians will concern themselves with ‘telling’ you where to get the best. As it may all be new to you, please accept my modest interpretation of this ‘phenomenon’ as a way to prevent any misunderstanding and perception of displeasure or attempts to ‘dictate’ where you should or shouldnt eat. Malaysians are usually a friendly bunch - think of it as a parent who not only shows their love for you through feeding you but desperately hopes that you have the best version of it because then you’ll truly feel their love for you. This might sound like an odd take on it at firat. However, with time, I’m hoping that you’ll find it to be the most authentic and literal translation of family dynamics and love that all Malaysians carry. I look forward to following your journey. Safe travels!

Thank you so much for that incredible comment Helen. We’re so happy to have people like you in our audience 😊. We have DEFINITELY noticed the food obsession here in Malaysia and we’ve gotten tons of very passionate comments on what to eat and where to eat it, similarly to what you described in your comment. We’ve been appreciating all of the suggestions, but it’s unfortunately not possible for us to try everything, because we’re only here for a short time and typically our schedule is extremely busy. Being food/travel bloggers you aim to popularize yourselves and the places in the country that you have visited. You can quite easily find certain places/tourist attractions you may find interesting via apps. However, it s quite difficult to get the best local food within walking distances. Usually the best locally rated food may not be reached on foot and it is here that you need someone's guidance. Unless you are an expert on various cuisines, you don't mind what you can get, do you?
@AttilaAndZae2 жыл бұрын
We are definitely not experts on foods at all, and usually we only try to put our one video in each country about food, because our aim is to show places, landmarks and activities. A guide would certainly help when it comes to the food videos 😊
