Liam, out of the many youtubers doing Malaysia, you are one of my favourites. You read up on my country before commenting. Many Malaysians do not know the history of our country as much as you. 😂 Thank you for bringing us Malaysians to explore our country with your scooter trips. Armchair travelling for us who haven't been to those places. You are brave and adventurous but do take precautions. Those bushes in the video above might have snakes. In the video of the haunted shophouses, you captured yourself peeing. Asian belief - always ask permission from the " spirits " before doing so. Lest you offend them. Up to you whether you want to believe or not. 😂 And if you are still in Malaysia, you can ask your viewers or subscribers about the famous food of your next destination and the location of the restaurant. Don't miss out on good food - one of the joys of life. Thank you for being a travel ambassador of my country and may you travel safely and smoothly here in Malaysia and in your future foreign destinations. ❤

@@liam.richards Just subscribed your channel. I have been watching your youtube videos. Maybe missed one or two. I do not know how to ride a bicycle, scooter or motorcycle. Only know how to drive a car. From your videos, I think it is a great feeling to be riding any of the above three, feeling the wind. You ride at a great speed. I fear for your safety as you are talking at the same time. Do be careful. ❤

Liam since you're planning to go to Taiping and you've been asking for recommendations for haunted places you might want to try the bungalows in Bukit Larut formerly called Maxwell Hill. The bungalows are situated above the winding roads 10km marker. I'm not sure if the Town Council's Land Rover service has restarted as private vehicles are not allowed to go up. The bungalows up there are closed so you'll have to camp outside but there's risk of black panthers etc

My parents decided to settle down in Ipoh after my father was stationed here during the second malayan emergency (1969-1989), which was an armed conflict with the communists in 1970. Note: the first malayan emergency ( 1948-1960). I became a citizen in 1977. I, too, joined the army in 1984 and fought the last battle against the Filipino rebels in 2013..

We have a university established in an old quarry area, about 1 hour from Ipoh, called Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. The barren land has been replanted with trees and made into public park at the front and the university covers up the rest, just to the edge of a reserve forest area. PETRONAS owns the university, the same company that owns the Twin Towers
@liam.richards5 күн бұрын
That’s a great way to make use of an old quarry! Well done Malaysia. I wish more countries did that, because quarry’s can seriously be used for some amazing things. Rather then just be left and look like a massive bomb crater hahaha
@KhalixMR4 күн бұрын
@liam.richards ya before they replanted trees, the area was unbearably hot with exposed sand dunes and many 'natural' lakes. But now though it's still hot, it's Malaysia level hot, with greenery. And the surrounding areas have been developed as a university town.

Being students without money we slept on the tennis court between two of the bungalows, it was very cold with the wind that high up. Around 3am I heard tap tap tap footsteps around us. I thought oh my gosh should I open my eyes? Finally I forced myself and I saw my schoolmate running around us - I scolded him you scared me to death. Kellie's Castle was said to be haunted by the souls tortured and died under the hands of Japanese soldiers during WW2, when the Japanese made the castle their base. My uncle recalled an incident he encountered as a child who used to play around the castle in the early 60s when he helped watch their family paddy fields nearby. There was a bird nest with fledglings on top of a relatively big tree (the jungle was cleared now). One afternoon, he climbed the tree to get to it. Suddenly he heard heavy footsteps by someone wearing boots approaching. Before he knew it the tree was shaking rigorously and the birds flew away. He was so shaken that he dared not come down until he was certain that the spirit was gone. He recounted that it would take a very strong person to shake a tree that big, but it appears to be a kind spirit trying to save the birds.

Add nasi himpit or ketupat (rice cubes) when you order satay, Dip it with peanut curry and it is heaven. Very addictive as well.
