I love that Judge Manning did not allow that ignorant, smug, irresponsible and contemptuous attorney to get away with claiming a "conflict" when he didn't bother to file a Notice of Engaged Counsel with the court. I file them all of the time. At least once a week. They're not always looked at, and occasionally the court refuses to honor them and grant a continuance. When that happens, we either send someone else or we continue our other appearance and show up in the court that won't excuse us. Additionally, changing your contact details on the e-filing systems isn't that difficult. On most of them, you can simply log in and do it yourself. On others, you have to contact the site administrator by email or phone and request that they update it for you. Again, I do this everytime we change any of our contact information .We file documents on 5 different electronic systems on the state and federal level, and it's a quick and nearly painless process, in every instance. The guy is a jerk, who obviously doesn't care about his client or the court. He needs to be disbarred if he doesn't have an immediate and drastic change of attitude.

Judge Manning is obligated to contact the state bar association and report such blatant misconduct. You can absolutely lose your license at least temporarily for being that disrespectful to the court. Attorneys are absolutely bound to respect the courts and the laws of the areas in which they practice. They may not be permanently suspended but they're likely to at least recieve a piblic censure and fines.
@Katrina-qs2rl
@Katrina-qs2rl 3 ай бұрын
The bar, from what I've seen, gives members a lot of chances to comply with law practice regulations. The bar also keeps some of these actions confidential, not open to the public. At most, he might get a suspension. If the bar were stricter, these guys would be more careful.

I caught a DUI years ago and hired an attorney like the one in contempt for "conflicts." I showed up over and over for court but he didn't. I was out on bond thank God and the lawyer was cheap so I thought the longer it went since the actual crime with me obeying the laws, the less likely I was to get in big trouble. 4 years later I finally flagged down the DA and sat down and worked out my own deal. My lawyer wandered in right before I signed and was blown away with what I was able to negotiate for myself 😆 I think he almost hired me!

When a lawyer continues to ignore directives or being ordered to update important "business" contact information, one has to really take a good look as the WHY. I suspect this lawyer is dodging being served by the state's bar to answer for the many complaints filed against him, if he is served on a certain date, then the clock starts running and when you runs the clock out on that, then the clock starts running on the next OTSC from the state bar. There is a reason he is purposely not updating the email address or contact number and they are not good reasons either. He is intentionally hiding from his overlords that control his license, no license, no job!

As someone who used to live that lifestyle due to drugs, I remember the first time an officer asked me what my roommate/best friends last name was and I couldn’t tell him. It was the first time it had occurred to me that there were people that were prominent in my life that I didn’t even know their last names. Since I had only been apart of that lifestyle for like a 7 months at the time, the realization about how absurd that was hit me pretty hard until I got high again. The others that had always lived that way just never seemed to realize it wasn’t normal. Sometimes with addiction the crazier the story, the more true it is. And of course, sometimes is not.

Can't wait to see his attitude on the 11th. Is he really a criminal lawyer? He doesn't know proper procedure for filings if he can't make his court appearance? Thats strange. Makes me question his knowledge and skill as a lawyer. Right?

On a similar note to the points about the officer's day being wasted... How agencies cover for officers, first responders, etc. who have to attend court, but are scheduled to work, is to bring someone else in on overtime. However, the testifying person is still paid. In the event that person is not scheduled to work on court day they are paid overtime (usually, but sometimes not depending on their department contract). While overtime pay and extra pay may sound like a good thing, the call into court to testify prevents that person from being able to rest and recharge completely in time for their next scheduled shift. This leads to burnout, cumulative fatigue, PTSD and higher rates of mistakes. And, of course, when attorneys blow off court for whatever reason, that person will be called back in again. And, as we see, it can occur within a short period of time.. That can cause real problems for whomever has the challenge of filling the holes in the schedule that may occur. This includes if the person is supposed to work nightshift.. They cannot if they were in court that day as they wouldn't have enough time to sleep in advance of their shift. Not to mention the costs involved... All of this is expensive. The various agencies bear the costs every time their people show up in court but have to come back because of some continuance that wasn't filed ahead of time. In a major city, like St.Louis, I would estimate that court appearances by police officers alone probably cost the city several millions of dollars. And given the no-shows, that number could probably be cut in half with some simple courtesy on behalf of the attorneys involved... (Not to mention Fire, paramedics, sherrifs, and other public employees. ) My thoughts on the matter are that "court officers" who are found to be responsible for these should reimburse the departments for the costs of their shenanigans.

I just LOVE judge Manning! Judge Manning is hard when she needs to be, gentle and compassionate when required and also very very good at making sure that people with mental health issues have help etc.. and advocates for people to get help, I think basically a really good person who has come from being a cop and working all the way up to an amazing judge. Lastly, I always love how she is trying to have women lift each other up or helping each other rather than being at odds, I think judge Manning is a good soul and also so enjoyable to watch. 😊 As always, thanks Mike for this clip. I also so enjoyed the clip where the prosecutor didn’t turn up. Your anger was justified and palpable, he seemed like a very very SELF SERVING person. That poor child who got shot and that prosecutor couldn’t give two hoots!

And what’s infuriating about the “dumpster-diver” isn’t her situation itself… It’s the fact that she is so obviously lying about everything while her sobbing attempts to paint her as a victim. (I think the sobbing is real, but it’s springing from the consequences she’s facing-it *not* a result of contrition in even the slightest respect) Edited to add: I am totally pissed that her kids are allowed /any/ contact whatsoever with them.

Tyrone Walls is barely an attorney. Graduated from “Charlotte School of Law” in 2014. The school no longer exists. Accredited in 2008 and lost it’s accreditation in 2016. That said, it’s not easy to pass the SC Bar Exam (GA was easy, SC was not, imo). Then again, I passed in 1994 (GA) and 2015 (SC).
