@Syklonus5 жыл бұрын
I've been saying the same thing for years. They should take the footage that was shot, clean it up, add new VFX, get a blue colour grade on it, and release it as a short film. They could film additional Cyberdyne scenes to attach to the start in order to recreate the live show and just use de-aging technology or Deepfake on the actors for the close ups. It would also be a good chance to explain why the Time Machine can transport things like clothes and weapons now by saying that it's a more advanced version. Let's face it, everyone was expecting the third film to be set in the post-apocalyptic future and this half delivered on that promise. I'd 100% pay full price for it, even if it was just 20-30 minutes long, becasue this is the last time James Cameron ever directed a Terminator film with actual cast members.

Someone just reminded me that this closed, I had completely forgotten. I was never a fan of the Terminator series, mainly because this show scared me as a child. However, I grew up to not only appreciate the show but to also love it. It was an amazing practical effects show with hands down the best 3D visual effects I have, to this day, ever seen. They were cheesy at times and had dated 3D animation, but the effect was so incredible it really did not matter (and it's something you will never get to experience again, as video can never do it justice). To get a glimpse of it though, just look at the final 3D scene. The creature, even without the glasses, looks like he's popping out of that screen. That's incredible. This was such a fun send off to the show and I'm glad they even let people stand in the back. Too awesome. I'm also glad that my mother suggested I go watch the show during our last trip while she sat down to take a break, as it was the final show of that day. Right after we left Florida, they announced it was closing and I wouldn't get that chance again. Thanks for the video. Wanted to relive the memory.

From the bottom of my heart I will miss this show. I saw it for the first time with my father over ten years ago, and I would have never explored the world of Terminator without seeing it. Universal Studios is getting lazy in their presentation: As beautiful and streamlined as they are, they're beginning to suffer from "Movie in a Box" syndrome. Of which I mean coping out using live actors to bring screen and practical special effects and instead just putting guests in a moving seat that moves past scenery and 3D screens. I started to notice it in 2015: Spider-Man, TRANSFORMERS, The Forbidden Journey, Minions, and then the closing of Twister in place of a 3D Jimmy Fallon Ride and of course the new (and underwhelming) FAST and FURIOUS. All of these rides rely on more screen than tangeable effects. Terminator was that hidden gem in the park where you got everything: Live actors, animatronics, immersion, 3D...all branched from one into another without needing to change rooms. Even DISASTER held a place in my heart because you interacted with people and it touched on movie magic that makes Universal have such nostaligic value. I'm not knocking the 3D box rides, as they're undoubtedly top of their class. I just hope Universal doesn't lose sight of the value that was Terminator. T2 is a classic, and I hope what comes in the future harkens back to previous movies to create that nostalgia with modern technology, instead of throwing together whatever is trending onto a 3D screan and automated vehicle.

I have seen it in 2003, back when i was a 12 year old boy with my father we went to Florida for a holiday. I rember asking him if it was the real Arnold on the bike, he just smiled and said yes. :)

Well, here 4DX theaters are becoming increasingly common, so I don't see the point of traveling that far, plus pay for an expensive theme park ticket, and long lines just to have a similar experience. And now even my home LG TV gives you better and brighter 3d images that those murky and dark images that rides like transformers and Krusty's have.
@FestivalofFreaks6 жыл бұрын
I was really sad to see disaster, twister, and now terminator go cause those were freaking awesome to see and the fast and furious ride is terrible even though the line is cool the rest of it just felt like a disappointment like the actual ride itself felt really short

Back in the day, this attraction was amazing! The technology at the time was cutting edge. The seamless transition between the live actors and video-animatronics was fantastic. Of course, that 3D back then was cool as well. Unfortunately, time changed everything. 3D technology has advanced so much since then, and you could tell in the ride today. But that didn’t stop my excitement to experience it one last time when we visited several years ago. BTW, a bit of trivia: I lived in Orlando more than two decades ago. One of the actors who portrayed the Terminator was once a member of the group *NSYNC. He chose not to continue with the group, feeling that the group would go nowhere. That was the opening that allowed Lance Bass to join the group. Lance was my boss’ nephew, and he himself told me what had happened. Back then, the group was just starting. He actually accompanied me on my first visit to Universal Studios, which was cool, because we could enter the attractions as VIP guests. Going to miss it, but at least I got to go one last time.

I think they should’ve updated this instead of closing it completely. I think they should’ve made it a simulation ride, and make it where you’re transported into the Judgement Day future and you get to shoot the Terminator cyborgs. And along the way Arnold, Sarah and John help you out throughout the ride. Almost like the Back to the Future ride combined with the Buzz Lightyear and Harry Potter ride.

As a FL resident and (former) Annual Pass holder, I went on this a TON of times - usually to get out of the 100° heat for awhile, heh. Most of the times I went on it there was no line (I almost always went during the “off-season). But the actors, regardless of whether the show was at full capacity or a considerably smaller amount of people, always took the performance seriously and never phoned it in (at least as far as I could tell, heh). This show was a fantastic experience and I always enjoyed it.

I know all things must come to an end but I’m truely sad to see that this attraction has closed. I first saw T23D when I was 7 years old on my first trip to Disney Orlando (I know this is universal). I was absolutely terrified (I think this was the first 3D film I ever saw. Loved every second of it. I’m now 29 and the terminator is in my DNA. This ride sparked the interest in the films so a great shame it is now gone.
@aaronmcmahon76886 жыл бұрын
I feel like they are doing their best to cut cost, not update rides. They had to pay actors. Cost of gas for fire and flames. The blanks for the guns. All extra costs. 3D never calls out sick, never has to be maintained or risk of explosion. 3D guns never fail or cause hearing loss from gun fire blanks. 3D is awesome but it's cheap. For the price of a ticket and hotel you can get an oculus. Oculus does all the basic, same things and no waiting in line. Defunctland is working on doing this. There is a reason people drive for days, across the U.S. to see landmarks rather than just looking at pictures. Best example is people pay for tickets to halloween horror night and wait 2 hours to go through a haunted mansion that last about 2 minutes when they could just watch a scary 3D horror movie. It's the tangible, reality we want. The slight risk of real danger.
