I'm doing the same thing on a 2006 Rubicon...I have a small 2 jaw puller on it now soaking in penetrating oil..thanks for posting this.

Yes we got it removed and greased up and it's been working great since.

I am at the same issue now 5 hours still no difference going to use heat and puller tomorrow or thinking of drilling a little hole to allow wd40 in .

Since you've done this, do you think it would be ok to install a grease zert while it's out?

I used a 3 point puller for this, it was a cheap one and broke but did get it off. For what its worth i also got the puller warrantied.

holy hell this job is so much harder than I looks. my rear brakes would not go up or down let alone slide out
