Just wow! An amazing update of that original opening film with some fabulous updated shots of contemporary Brum!

Hi Ian. I wanted to show the beauty of the Midlands here, and it would appear that I succeeded. ATV had two versions of the movie. I didn't go for the fluffy sheep dog or the power station approach. But I do believe that the beauty of The Malverns were included in the originals. References to the culture of the Midlands was also important. Thanks for the thumbs-up, it means a lot. Best wishes, Nigel.

Very very good ATV mock start up. Shame ITV plc has dumped all that, the regional startups along with local clocks, idents, friendly in-vision continuity and fabulous announcers, are what gave ITV it's unique identity to local viewers.

Wow Nigel! This is simply stunning, another true masterpiece and great drone footage.😊

Hi. Thank you so much. Thanks also to those who filmed the footage. I tried to keep as close to the style in which ATV filmed. Also I put as much of the Midlands into the movie as I could in the time given. I'll be back soon, but may take time off for the jubilee. All the best, Nigel.

Hi. Thank you for your wonderful comment. I very much enjoyed putting this together. I'm learning more all of the time. I included a lot of scenes (modern day) such as the Malverns, Spaghetti Junction, even a TV transmitter (The Wrekin) that ATV filmed, although I suspect that their mast was Sutton Coldfield. I did omit the power station polluting the atmosphere, however. LOL! After all 'Life is a Beautiful Book' as they sing. All the best, Nigel.

I don't think the ITV network was ever as good again as when ATV was part of it. Central was ok, but not as good as ATV. The magic of Lew Grade was gone by 1982.

Such gorgeous footage, with a piece so lovably cheesy and '70s. Shame the IBA took offence to the latter. Only a matter of time until a clean Sir Lew Grade March is found I guess...

Hi PriddhasPengu. I had great fun making this video and it was a great challenge to represent the ATV region properly, due to it's size, but, from Tring to Shrewsbury, Nottingham to Hereford & Worcester, i just about managed it. Cheesy the song is, now. But, it is very 70s in nature and I also tried to match the video clips with the words of the song. I also incorporated some of their video concepts into mine; although the two children and sheepdog got the 'boot' I'm afraid. I don't know why the IBA had such a 'downer' on this, but for them the rules were not there for breaking. The helicopter footage on the original videos must have cost ATV a fortune. I'm very happy that you liked the video. Best wishes, Nigel.

Man, ATV has had a lot of Startups over the years. I find it interesting that this has actual words in it, and it’s nice, although I do have a better taste in imstrumentals.
@nigelcash52842 жыл бұрын
Hi M L. ATV recorded two films to go with the song. I have incorporated some aspects of their films regarding the Midlands in my movie. I was not a great fan of the song when I started this project, but I love it now. It's all very 70s and I like that. Glad you enjoyed it. All the best, Nigel.

@@nigelcash5284 After they went to the effort of the two films and the theme, the pathetic IBA banned them from using it because (get this) it was just an instrumental start up. And then they had to go to that other dross for the period til it ended in 1981.

Hi Robett. The ITA/IBA were very powerful organisations, they held total control of all the licences and what they said went. However, I can't see what possible harm this was doing. None, I suspect, but the rules had to be obeyed. It's a lovely song and I'm glad to include this in my list of startups. Best wishes, Nigel

Was the widescreen ATV ident by Dave Jeffrey?
@nigelcash52849 ай бұрын
Hi. I have used quite a bit of material from Dave Jeffery and greatly admire his work. I always give him the credit for material used. Howevet, on this occasion the ATV ident is not from him. All the best, Nigel.

If ITV really made something like this nowadays they would overlook all the natural beauty of the Midlands and concentrate on Mosques instead
@nigelcash52842 жыл бұрын
Hi newuk26. One of the ideas of putting together the videos is to show the beauty of the regions and encourage people to visit. Also, reminiscing on how regional, ITV used to be. Sob! If you enjoyed this video concerning the ATV Midlands, then I am very glad. Best wishes, Nigel.

But what's wrong with that, exactly, except for that you personally don't like them or attend them? Mosques are part of Birmingham's modern landscape and heritage, whether you like that or not. It's also not the only city that has them, in any case.
